Ever since I was a child this has always been my favorite part of Incantations. It lifts my soul.

Mike Oldfield is so underrated as a guitarist. All the great guitarists are immediately recognizable, and Mike Oldfield fits into that category. And I've always loved him playing over the Incantations motif. His rich tone just sours, makes you fly. Its the kind of music that in the words of Eric Clapton, "just takes you away".

I was at that concert too. At the interval they handed out sheets of paper with lines printed on them. Folded, they became the paper planes. I remember pelting Mike and the band when they came back on stage.

Incantations, and especially part 3 and 4, is one of the absolute highlights in Mike Oldfield's career. A master's masterpiece. Unfortunately this album did not get the same recognition as Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge or Ommadawn, as it should have deserved.
