I love Richard Marx. I came to know and love Josh Groban w/my son . I love the intricitly divergent ways this song speaks to my soul. I sang it in reverence to my deceased Grandfather Al after hearing Josh interpret it, then also in heart break after losing my Grandmother Dorothy. When things could seem no sadder after losing my firstborn Grandson Hunter at his birth upon hearing Richard's version it gave me even more peace again to sing it for the little one. God Bless the lyrics..always!
Both beautiful ... I'm just so happy that we are blessed with so much grace and beauty. I appreciate both gentlemen. Thank you for enriching our lives!!!
Cannot compare the 2 versions ,same song totally different voices and delivery !! Listened to both for the first time and was blown away by the talent that is Richard Marx.
@yoreynolds14 I respectfully disagree. And I'm a Josh Groban fan, saw him live 3 times this year. This song has come alive and has fulfilled its destiny in Richard's interpretation... for me, it's much more intimate, tender... not that monumental. So as much as I adore Josh (I really, really do), I think Richard beat him in this song. Then again, why do we compare? Two styles, two voices... too versions. Both lovely, no? :)
I cheated with imagination and put myself in the picture of pretend but then in my minds eye I always do. If I were to pass on I'd be Sir Marx guiding angel. It's a perfect song for an angel although I believe Sir Richard had his Dad in mind when writing this, or so I think he wrote this but great vocals in this!
Awesome. I haven't listened to Josh singing it yet, but Richard sings it great too. I know he wrote it for Josh Groban and it was No 1 for several weeks on the contemporary charts (I think). Not sure of my facts. They are shown on Richard's Promo video. Which is AWESOME.
such a beautiful soft and lovely voice!! very romantic abd very sexy at the same time.. i love his voice!

Richard Marx has written a lot of songs for other artists but none can do them justice like he can.

@noondarkly The answer to your question...a definite YES.
with regards to two styles, two voices, too versions, and well
yes both lovely. However to say "beat him (josh) in this song" not
quite. The music in Josh's version a lot more clear, not drowning
his voice, and Josh's voice is Much more clear and has a grieving
passion which is appropriate for this song. Listen to both again and again
you may perhaps agree.

I love this song, this man's voice. Seems he writes songs from his heart to my soul, expressing my thoughts that I cant.
