    nowadays is just shit...

  • I guess this happens in the Vaults?

  • The guy @3:01 moves his feet like Dean Collins. Is that him?

  • @randito No, but a lot of the dancers in this movie learned from Dean, which is why they look similar.

  • I remember when Bill Haley called his band the Saddleman. He did good with this style of music.

  • im a teenager of today but i must say, cool moves people of the past! :]]

  • @curvy71 Better than bloody Chav talk of today, yuck. BLEH.

  • @showaddywaddyfan i agree lol.

  • @curvy71 No, we "old people" were teenagers (barely) when "Rock Around the Clock" came out and we definitely did not talk like that. That is pure, homogenized, 100% Hollywood.

  • @Halo101st So is a " RAPPERS DELIGHT " Even Jelly Belly nd 6 Pachas admitted to be'N fake, on Music Televisions MTV's RAP WARS, Yo? The Jewelry, that's REAL, pretty. But I'd rather have NAZI gold, Real.

  • Comment removed

  • You are Right ROCK ` N` Roll is the Best Bill Haley & The Comets are one of the Best. Just LOVE this Music.

  • Two visitors from another planet investigate earthly pastimes...

  • "American Grafitti" basis was born when Bill Haley recorded "See You Later Alligator". "FANTABULOUS"!

  • Bill Haley is as close as you get to a real god. I play this sometimes on my flights

to Hong Kong and the flight attendants say ppl get up and start dancing.

  • Those guys are such squares! Haley & the Coments are soooo boss! Ya dig?

  • The guy @1:24 "Later man, later.. I'm gone now.. I don't dig nothin".. lol

  • Aren't coloreds allowed in this dancehall?

  • @ecnalubma696969 Look up "Hellzapoppin" and you'll see where they were at instead of being here.

  • It's a nice tune but

doesn't really make me feel all that dancy dancy D:

  • I wonder if the guys had to be strong to throw the girls around

  • @Dablkwid0w2008 Air steps are about technique, not muscle.

  • Rock and Roll forever.

  • I was 11 when this hit and i was my favorite!!!

  • I don't know, It isn't boogie, it isn't jive, and it isn't swing. It's kind of all of them. "It's rock 'n roll, brother, and we're rocking tonight!"

I think I'm in love. I must see this movie!! 8D

  • @202cardline "Rockabilly!!!"

  • @AMAC48 It's Rock n' Roll, when it was still good. ;-)

  • Raise a glass on the day Bill passed away

  • see ya later alligator!!

    I wanna sing'n'dance :D

    nana nana nana nanaaa

    Peace!

  • @ANKAS86 Just google "Lindy Hop" and you're city/state. You might be surprised what you find. :-)

  • LoL epic

  • That shot of the gal coming under the guy's legs @ 2:12 had to be absolutely scandalous for 1956.

  • @jwz965 Look up the dancing from the movie "Hellzapoppin'" from 1941. Now that was scandalous.

  • "later man later. I'm gone now, I don't dig nothin!"

  • Go Cat, Go!!

  • And yes the Lindy hop is kind of a jitter bug type swing dance

  • This dancing is just a modern type Jitter Bug..if you listen closely you will also here big band boogie style jazz in Rock and Roll here. So much of Modern Rock has lost this. Since they started hard rock to me is not dance music..just a bunch of guys on the stage screaming words cause their music is so loud you could not hear them sing other wise.!!!!!!!!

  • Yes but whites learned well by practice and more practice now they can bust some moves they may not be as natral as the A Americans but by praticing they are pritty good i like bill and always like to see how he use that guitar as a prop that is something we don't see today much good voice from him thanks.

  • 3:00 OMG!

  • from this, to the slam yeah¡¡

  • I've always liked Bill Haley and his Comets, his music makes me wanna dance no doubt bout it. But lets remember one thing here for a moment, the originators were Blacks they were the real deal since the turn of the 1900's. Blacks have this magic touch for music.

  • @mrwarmth21 Actually, the dancers are doing Lindy Hop in the video.

  • Do you know where I can get this movie???

  • @MrYankeeManiac The movie is "Rock Around the Clock." I bought it on Amazon.com as part of a two DVD set with "Don't Knock the Rock." It wouldn't let me post a link...

  • So, is this considered swing dance?

  • @ZamsadaZombie Actually most of the dancing in the video is Lindy Hop, one of many different kinds of swing dancing.

  • @ZamsadaZombie All the dancing in this video is "Lindy Hop" (or you can sort of consider it early West Coast Swing).

  • @lindyhop411 Well i'm getting on in my yrs now,but when we,meaning myself 7 friends were into Rock n Roll,we tended to mix a bit of both Jive with "Lindy Hop2 it did work well.lol.saying that we were all young at the time, lol.but had a ball doing it, ;=],maybe not as good as these Guys, but was fun .

  • @richardcwood1 Sir...you are correct .....Im in my 50's and kids of my day were not fat....or very few of them......we didnt sit in front of a computer and play games ..we would go outside and play football, baseball or basketball.....we lived to play outside....our parents had to fight to keep us inside......kids today just sit and watch tv and video games........so sad

  • Who are the two guys who get out of the car?

  • ROCK N' ROLL!!!!!!!!

    18 PERSONAS ESTAN BIEN PENDEJAS!!!

  • mmmmm.... no ta tan malo igual :/

  • comets do fusion - don't know about Bill

  • yeahhh rock and roll 4ver

i have 19 years i love dance and rock and roll

  • This is rock &roll baby!

  • For a long while I thought my daughter was fatally infected with 'Top 40' bubblegum, but she admitted to me one day she really likes Bill Haley's music, so I can almost forgive what she listens to 90% of the time.

  • those were the days!

  • Crazy, man, crazy. Like I'm really gone! Not only was the dancing cool but so was the attitude. I have got to learn to dance like this.

  • It was a different time then. The people were different too. Not much money, but we had a good time. A simple time in history.

  • My back goes into spasms just watching. Are you sure that I did this in the 50's?

  • super interesante

  • This must be a better way to get in shape than all the fitness centers and gyms together.

  • Great music, but I reckon all the black people must have been on the toilet/getting a drink/smoking a cigarrette when this was shot!

  • They're slaughterin' cattle! Yes indeedy! This was my first Rock song ever, I danced to it when I was one years old! I still love rock 'n roll, to this very day! I have gone from the Founder, Bill Haley, to Elvis, To Chuck, to Buddy, to The Beatles, to The Who, to Hendrix, to Bowie, to the Ramones, to Nirvana, to Bad Religion, and so on, and so forth. I have been alive about as long as Rock 'n Roll, and I will always love it with all my heart! I promise! Crazy, man, crazy!

  • There are some of us who still do this... not many, but there are some. I know more than most old folks I've met about vintage swing dance.... And I'm only 24.

  • They might not have realized it but they were experiencing America at its best--they had tail-finned chrome covered cars, a booming economy and could tell the rest of the world to screw itself! They're all nicely dressed and probably have good jobs and are living comfortably in retirement in their 70's today! Today's young people will never have it so good!

  • The guy on the left at the beginning when they both went in was on the Andy Griffith Show ..... Freddie Fleet !!!

  • no foreigners

  • no one is fat and everyones is dressed with class.

  • Sweet as can be

  • i want this played at my funeral..the trouble is where is everybody gonna dance...

  • I'm diggin' it daddy-o.

  • Why do we live in this hip-hop and rap times ?! I'm 14 years old, and i'd die to get to a time where they dance'd like this and everywhere u go, u hear rockabilly/rock'n'roll! Long live Rock'n'roll!

  • ROCK`N`ROLL Is The Only Music That Is Ever Played In My House,Anything Else Is Just Rubbish In My Opinion. Elvis,Gene,Eddie,Buddy,Bill,Fats, You Don`t Need Last Names If You Like The Music They Created.

  • gone man gone.

  • i'm gone, man....

  • Oh just love it.

  • this is what you call dancing bring it back any day my boy is 25 years old and runs a club for jiveing look on utube under george and holly webb jiveing my mother taught him all of it

  • @mary34544 The dancing in this video is Lindy Hop.

  • Crazy, Daddy-O, Crazy!

  • I Was 13 Years Old When This MUSIC Hit The Airwaves, I`m Now 66 And I Haven`t Heard Anything To BEAT It Yet. ROCK `N` ROLL, Who Said It Wouldn`t Last?

  • @fillyloo44 You got it. Haley was ace and the music the best.

  • @fillyloo44 Well said, wish I could dancs like that

  • @aufermo You can! Just look up "Lindy Hop" and your city/state.

  • This is music!!!

  • Billy Haley&The Comets are often credited with the beginnings of Rock&Roll. That is debateable but their record "Rock Around The Clock" certainly put a label on it and shortly thereafter Allen Freed coined the phrase Rock&Roll. One thing is not argued and that is the record Rock Around the Clock is the biggest all time single pop hit seller with 23 million copies sold since the song was released in 1955. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine

  • 1:50-1:56 - How does she dance that well in a pencil skirt? Insane.

  • @heyitsmoi Right? Amazing! This is jitterbug though, not swing dancing...but it borrowed moves from swing dancing. My parents did this big time back in the day

  • Comment removed

  • @heyitsmoi Most of those tight pencil skirts had "kick pleats" in the front and back below the knee to allow them to flare out for climbing stairs or up that high first step into a trolley car.

  • even though there is a Youtube reminiscent of old time

  • these decades there was obese youngsters.

now only to see new people who do not enjoy life just being on the computer and games

long live the decade of rock and rolll

  • @cirius1990 you have got to see youtube----Dancing the boogie Just unblieveable,. look at it

  • congratutacion for bill haley this man play this adventure call rock rock rock congratulations from mexico live rock this is music i love rock i love rock this is music in my funeral

  • amazing dancers

  • @Larsibob If you want to see some real rock n roll go to Boogie Dancing (utube)

  • No better way to stay fit ..fat ..gone man ..reeealy gone..can u dig it !!!

  • i can remember when i was about 10yrs,my cousin taught me how to do this dance lol...in the late 70's...and have loved this music ever since...lol...

  • Holy Moly! 3:02!! What move! Not for the faint of heart or out of shape!

  • I could do that move 15 years ago (and so could Marcus Koch from Germany) and u need VERY flexible legs...believe me. Then you get older and less flexible and "memories are made of this". The dancers did not drink at all..just like today. That is the reason why we are not populair around places as we only drink water...and you cannot make both ends meet that way. I still love dancing.

  • Yeah the dancers were all sober doing this kind of dancing--but if they were really wild they might go out for a few beers later and then maybe some making out (kissing) and maybe squeezing a boob if they were lucky. Only the loosest trashiest girls would actually fuq. They wanted marriage if you can believe it! It was a more innocent time--I really miss it.

  • I wish I could have been a teenager in the 50's! Great music, clothes and such an innocent time. Glad I was at least born in the 50's!

  • LOOK HOW SLIM GIRL'S USED TO BE...

  • @harmageden All that dancing, babe. Awesome exercise! When my husband and I took swing dance lessons for an entire summer we both lost over 20 lbs each.

  • "Crazy, man.. crazy" =D

  • gotta be sober to do those moves lol

  • @ Eyedea818: This Rock 'n Roll we're speaking of is THE ROCK 'N ROLL!!!!

  • These people could really dance - check out 3.03 - 3.05, that move is really amazing!

  • Oh yes! I remember the fifties. Twirling girls, Swirling skirts, Stocking tops...There was something else of course...the music!

  • Want To Hear Some Never Before Heard Oldies Music Come To My Page

  • what is this rock and or roll you speak of? lol

  • Tomorrow is the anniversary of Bills death raise a glass to the original King of Rock and Roll

  • Franny Beecher the guitar player is 88 and still going strong. He is the living Les Paul of guitar playing . This is one happy group of people. Hopefully it will be revived. People do not know what they are missing.

  • Do not ask me the name of the band. I'm listening to the music and I'm gone. I don't know nothing. LOVE Bill Haley he was the gonest of all time man.

  • Makes ya wanna be a teen again. Such a happy scene and sound. Bring it back..:-)

  • I want to dance well!!!

  • These people had the moves, especially that dude at 3.04 - 06.This is awesome!

  • I think the guy on the right in the opening scenes was on a couple of old Andy Griffith shows. He played the band leader of the band called "Freddie Fleet and his band with a Beat". Also on the show was a very young guitar player who later played the sheriff on "Duke's of Hazzard".

  • You are correct 6bop

  • How does it end? Does he EVER find out the name of the band?

  • yes of course he ends up being their promoter

  • sadly Robert Guidry aka Bobby Charles who wrote this has died aged 71

  • to think my mom was a teenager in the 1950's

  • yea my parents were both teenagers in the 50's too

  • why wasn't I born in the 40's or 30's?!?

  • What that dancing guy does at 3:00 is simply AMAZING.

  • bei 3:00 viie su gei!

  • see you later ordinator

  • And we are all still kids having a good time! Thanks for the posting!!

  • nice to see a les paul being played there.

  • Almost 44 years ago, time flies when you're having fun

  • Look at video Swing dancing from the movie twiced blessed 1945. Watch the foot movment. they put a lot more into it back then.

  • Different eras and different dances. They were doing jitterbug in the 40's and jive or the "rock n' roll" in the mid 50's.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 62 years old and i did this and I can do about 1 hr. of it now. Good for you- you don't see any fat on that dance floor. FUN FUN FUN and those were real girls back in those days. the kids of today cant do it. This is the best way to get in shape FUN FUN FUN . good luck. AND yes I'm aold man.

  • @kennethrobinson123 heyyy im 26 and i love this!! and YES I can do it :)

  • @kennethrobinson123

@kennethrobinson123 agree with you I'm 25 years old and can not be this season. More love every song: D

Congratulations on the age and the example I have of today's youth

  • @kennethrobinson123 you guys are lucky i hate living in these times im 13 now and i wish i could live through the 50 to the 90s

  • @kennethrobinson123 My late Aunties and Uncles were champion dancers during the 50's. One of my Uncles could do that move in 3.03. Its a really difficult move.Looking at this clip and other archival footage and photos, I see that they certainly had something over and above whats on offer today. Even with exposed flesh - my aunties looked wholesome but sexy, a far cry from the sleaze we see today!

  • @Rosina57NZ It's not a difficult move. It's just difficult to make it look good, but anyone can do it, and it normally doesn't look good.
