@TRITCHEE I had to go research this on Biblegateway (because I do admit I rely on the NIV and do not own a KJV). *But* I will say, I have *never* been told in a doctrinally sound church that baptism saves you. I'm not sure why the NIV editors chose to remove v. 37 but as long as one is attending a church with sound doctrine, or those that are working to lead you to Christ have also been led with sound Biblical doctrine, then no one should believe that baptism saves you just from this ommission.

The KJV has many mistransliterations in it's text, far too many for it to be considered "correct". If you don't read Hebrew, Koine Greek, or Aramaic (the languages that the original texts were penned in; there are many willing rabbis and ministers that do that would be willing to help you find truth instead of doctrine.

@revgriz1979 I disagree. You can't have truth without doctrine. For example, every Christian knows that Jesus is God. How would we know this if the bible hadn't said it? How would we know about the "doctrine" of the trinity if the bible hadn't said it? If you aren't familiar with the "doctrine" of the bible, you might end up "changing the glory of the uncorruptable God into an image made like to corruptable man, or to birds, or four footed beasts." Or worse, you could end up LDS or JW.

@htowngl @TRITCHEE There are an enormous number of copies of the Acts manuscript in existence, and somewhere is the process of making all those copies vs. 37 got added (probably unintentionally). Back when the KJV was translated people had not yet figured out that that particular vs. wasn't in the original document, but thanks to good textual criticism that vs. has now been found and taken out. The same is true of the story in which Jesus says "let him who is without sin throw the first stone."
