  • Where i live it's always hot so I only use a heat lamp in the winter when the temp gets pretty cold

  • what is up with everyone saying you are an idiot

the video is really good and it works i used your method and my condor doing great

  • Hey, i would like to recommend using a cut-to-fit peice of glass or acrylic for the top instead of packing tape. i dont know about your snakes but mine pretty often go to the top of the cage and lick the top screen. Which im pretty sure adhesive isnt very safe... but thats my opinion. nice cage.

  • What did u use to paint the pvc

  • Awesome setup

  • Rough Green Snakes Do Not ' Need ' UVB , But It Does Help Them Shed

  • How much does that cost?

  • would a 40 gallon fishtank be good for a gtp for its whole life?

  • saran wrap works well too so then you have no sticky! i do it for my tree frogs :) it works well!

  • @cmanclan101 wouldnt tin foil just reflect the light without letting it pass thru? Unless u put it on a side where there weren't any lights. But that would still prob cause very bad ventilation and circulation of air

  • can it catch on fire? thats the only thing i would worry about.. but gave me good ideas!! thanks

  • Wow defeats the purpose of the whole ventilation aspect of the exo terra tanks! I'll keep on misting twice to three times a day instead of risking mildew and mold inside my tank .

  • I do the same thing, with tin foil. Its amazing how much of a change it makes. I had to open the lid partially to let some vapor out for my red tail

  • YOU DONT PUT PACKING TAPE YOU RETARD!!!!!!!!!!! They need uvb and you stoped that, wow get a life :P

  • @FishAreMyLife1 Ur a fuckin idiot!! Snakes dont require UVB, look it up u retard...

  • @black0ricky your wrong although themahority of snakes some species do require UVB such as the smooth and rough green snake

  • @FishAreMyLife1 YOU DONT NEED A UVB YOU RETARD!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously you dont do research or homework and its funny cause you tried to make this dude look bad and now you look like a dumbass, wow get a fuckin' life :P

  • @FishAreMyLife1 FAILL!!!

  • @FishAreMyLife1 snakes dont need uvb or uva. your the one who needs to get a life because you dont know what your talking about.

  • I had similar issues with my ZooMed cages on humidity. I do the same thing as you with the screen top but I just partially cover it by putting old non-returnable college textbooks on top...

  • Thank you for sharing. I am so interested in vivariums even though I don't nor never have had one. Some day i hope to though. But I was wondering why the heat lamp is needed. Is it for your snakes? If I were going to keep dart frogs would I have to have that heat lamp? 85 degrees seems pretty hot for DFs. And I've never liked the look of those heat lamps. I would only want lights. Are you trying to achieve more humidity for the snakes or the plants?-- Thanks

  • Do you find that the bob marley poster really helps as well?

  • what snake do u have in there ive see alot of them but dont no what thy are called thanks

  • @MultiReptilelover These are green tree pythons

  • great video, trying to keep decent humidity for my jungle carpet python

  • @treykeyes I use exos with my chondros.Hes fine,sit down and stfu

  • I don't think that the UVB rays will go though the tape. UVB does not go through glass, so I don't think it will go through the tape either. Canopy should be good enough to hold in the humidy on the front half. I just put the dual canopy on mine, and it made a significant diference.

  • @SASMetalhead you're right. I dont believe the UVB will go through the tape in any significant way. UVB isnt really required for snakes though so its ok in this case. If i was housing any sort of lizard, id certainly change the materials. This is an old setup not in use any longer anyhow, new vids to come

  • @black0ricky Good to know. I was just looking out! I have a Chinese Water Dragon, so the UVB is important. Have a look. Let me know what you think.

  • Hopefully you can read the rest of that cuz it looks like it got cut off

  • No thanks.. Don't think I would ever want a farm.. Glad to know that you think that would be a good thing to put up in a bet though. Lol. Or maybe that's just a common expression around the hole in the wall you come from? Who knows.

Regardless I can tell that you are extremely successful and have enormous amount of knowledge. I mean just look at that snake room you have there! How marvelous! Look at all of those beautifully made cages and vast amounts of specimens lmao. Your husbandry techniqu

  • I rate this zero stars. Are you retarded??

    Seriously packing tape??

Why not remove the spline, window screen, and middle brace and replace it with an appropriately sized pane of glass. Takes about ten minutes (plus dry time), doesn't look like shit, and isn't potentially dangerous to your gtp. On top of that it holds humidity and stable temps much more efficiently.

    P.s.

I made this account for the sole purpose on commenting on your lack of ingenuity and general common sense.

  • @treykeyes like i give half a shit about what you think dude. Ill bet the farm ive been doing this for much longer, with more specimens, and with greater success that you could dream of. Good try tho. Thanks for comin out.

  • You are killing ventilation which is crucial for reptiles like chameleons, exo terra terrariums designed to have fresh air pulled in from front vent holes, when hot air goes up through the top, those little gaps at doors don’t do much since all the worm air stays at the sealing

And 2nd thing, heat lamp should be placed at front side of the terrarium not at the back, so the worm air makes like a circle from front vent holes to the top, again it’s for proper ventilation, good luck!

  • u paid around 114 for it? also where did u get bit

  • i got my emerald boa high once i blew a bong rip in its tank and put the lid on it went on a feeding frenzy and didnt stop slithering around for like an hour haaaaaaaaaaaa prolly not healthy for it.. it was a one time thing hahahaaaa

  • Thanks for the tips!

What size is your tank btw? :)

  • @CaniTrollYou 18x18x24

  • didn't knew... regards

  • @blamp666 No worries.

    All the best my friend

  • I believe that the tape prevents the uvb/uva to penetrate the terrarium....

  • @blamp666 Yes, to a certain extent. However, UVA/UVB is not required for snake husbandry.

  • Alright, I finally posted a video of my Basin. Check it out.

  • i love your vid. and i love the bob marley poster even better lol

  • helpful video bro, thankyou. i am buying a crestie later in the week, an plan on purchasing an exo terra rainforest kit.

  • And I will definitely post a video of my Basin. You probably won't like the enclosure because it doesn't incorporate any of the essential husbandry items such as packing tape or tin foil. Anyways, I'll have a video up soon. I have to now.

  • It honestly sounds like your more concerned with being right then giving your gtp the best husbandry possible. You put packing tape and tin foil on top of your cage and you think it's an ingenious solution for creating the proper humidity. No shit, if you cover up 95% of the ventilation space you will be able to increase the humidity. But you fail to realize that a few little tiny holes below the doors is not adequate. You need vents on the top and bottom to create any air movement.

  • @ryank289 it sounds like you just wanna talk shit about any video you watch. I had a look at your channel, every single comment is someone telling you to Fuck off for being some kind of dickhead. My GTP's have been with me for quite some time are in perfect health. Oh yeah, lets see that basin of yours..

  • Just because there are gaps for ventilation that doesn't mean you have adequate airflow. Stagnate air is a huge issue with these species. One method you could try that wouldn't require you to change anything would be to put a small water basin in the cage. Put an airstone that is connected to a small aquarium pump. This would at least maintain the humidity that you have already created while providing adequate airflow.

  • @ryank289 Right, everyone thinks they know it all. Do a bit more research or perhaps even watch the video a bit closer and you'll notice not only referring to he "gaps" between the doors and whatnot, but the fact that the Exo terra setup actually has a ventilation system built in to it just below the doors as well. Not to mention the fact that these guys are handled almost daily. Ventation is in check over here. Thanks tho

  • @black0ricky I paid attention to your video. I'm always looking for ways to improve my husbandry and posting these sorts of videos is great for the hobby and the animals. What I was pointing out was that while there are holes built in below the doors for ventilation that doesn't mean there will be adequate airflow. And taking your animal out for handling won't make it any better in the long-run. Stagnant moist air is a great environment for bacteria which isn't healthy.

  • @ryank289 with resoect to ventilation only, how could daily handling NOT provide adequate fresh air to an animal??? Use ur brain dude. Second of all, mass produced enlosure systems have these things tested for efficiency before they are thrown on to the market, just so you know. LOOOOONG before you have ANY issues with airflow, you will be dealing with humidity issues, far more important for this species. Im also curious about this "amazon basin", nobody has a basin and not ONE vid...

  • @black0ricky Read any hundbandy article on this species and I'm pretty sure you won't read to handle your GTP to provide adequate ventilation. Anyways, I don't really care. Like I said youtube is a great way to share information. There are a few Basin vids. The problem is that 95% of all Basin and Norhern ETB's are posted by this one guy(CuteGayJason). Anyways, he's the most irratating person in the world and he makes out with his snakes, its freaky.

  • @ryank289 I never said anywhere that "you should handle them to give proper ventilation"? I simply stated that to give you an idea that ventilation Is NOT an issue in my case, because they are ou in fresh air. Not that my enclosure has a vent issue to begin with. And I wasn't talking about anybody elses amazon basin, I'm talking about YOURS, or th one you CLAIM to have. Where's your vids?

  • @ryank289 Basically, I think ur full of shit.

  • @ryank289 wtf, Cutegayjason has some very beautiful snakes, ( and before you say it no im not a homosexual) but i think his voice or sexuality is a stupid way to judge him , he has awesome snakes, takes care of them very well, he has my vote , grow up abit

  • @shawmaaan I agree that he has some awesome snakes. I just don't agree with most of his husbandry. But really gets to me is that he passes himself off as an expert. He assumes that he is doing everything perfectly and is unwilling to take constructive criticism. The husbandry of these animals is still evolving and we should all strive to provide our animals with the best care possible.

  • @black0ricky That's just my advice. I'm working on an enclosure for my Amazon Basin and I'll post it soon.

  • Comment removed

  • oh snakes dont need UVB?

  • @Lilsaintaz Yes, that's correct

  • @Lilsaintaz I dont use reg flourescent because those ones came with the kit that i bought. If I was starting fresh I would bother spending the extra for the UVA/UVB bulbs as i dont technically need them. But they dont hurt either

  • @black0ricky oh i see. thanks for the notes. i really like ur PVC pipe branch look really cool

  • Heyy. Thanks a lot :D rlly helped me. I was planning to get a exo terra and i was afraid i would loose too much humidity. so u helped a lot :D thanks again.

Just 2 Questions. What size is ur exo terra? is it 18x18x24? And i dont get the "misting" spray thingy. What is it and how does it help? Does it work if i just take normal water and spray it in the tank?

Please Reply as soon as possible :D

    Thanks

  • @ShadowMasterMagicMan thanks for the comments on the video.

The misting bottle helps to add the extra bit of humidity every few days

that will escape through natural evaporation and veltination. The other

main reason is so they can get extra water to drink. GTPs love to drink from

branches and themselves. Normal water from a normal spray bottle works fine

    cheers

  • @black0ricky

    Ooh. Ok. Thanks :)

haha. sadly its illegal to keep reptiles whre i am (singapore) so i go out in the forest and catch them myself. Thanks again :)

  • @furyshania thanks for the comment, but snakes actually don't require these

elements for proper growth. Many studies have shown this. Look it up.

    Cheers

  • 1) Give it a PROPER mist down(Mixing the bedding so it actuallly absorbes some water and putt a couple Damn towels over the top of the tank

    2) get yourself a bunch of good moss, and dip it completely in water/ring it out daily, snakes Love it.

  • wat wattage is ur red light bulb

  • @HPCrEsTeDs 75w

  • Awesome tank, and awesome GTP bro, is that an 18 by 18 by 24, or 12 by 12 by 18?

  • @lizardguy119796 its an 18x18x24

  • Ok mate, but i think the ocean is humid enough as it is, so why are you posting tips?

  • dude are you a complete idiot?? nobody was ever talking about a damn ocean? the quoted text was "specifically" not "Pacifically". Tell me again, what is it that you dont understand son?

  • 0:09 - Pacific is a ocean, retard. It's specific!

  • @kiemul136 Listen to the video again you fuckin idiot, listen real good. I clearly said "specifically"........burnout...

  • you do know the uv wont get through the packing tape

  • @DayLight95 you DO know that snakes dont require UV right?

  • i know mate. but people with lizards might try this and then there lizards wont get sufficient uv. you might want to put a disclaimer at the beginning ;)

  • I used plexi and cut out a hole for the heat lamp. I also put bioballs on the bottom covered with cocofiber and a top layer of moss. Ihave a bunch of live plants in there and my humididty stays up very well. I mist the enclosure every morning very lightly. Mostly on the chondro becauese he likes to drink the water off of his body. I also have a exoterra fogger in there that I use on occasion. Nice setup.

  • That sounds like some good ideas. I may have to try some of that. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the tips and advise. I got the same exact setup. Until I get some plexi this is working quite well.

  • Plexi on the front and tinfoil on the back.

I have used tape though when I dont have plexi available. I just like to use plexi because it's easier to take on and off.

  • Plexiglass works too.

  • Would the scorched PVC perches work with a jet lighter?

  • I had the same problem, but I covered the top with plexi-glass.

  • I love your cage! Its really awesome 5*****

  • what dimention is that cage??

  • thanks for the shout out blackOricky and cool video. I noticed you got a pvc jungle gym in there very cool.
