did almost the same thing to my finger on an outdoor grill. didn't know it had happened till about 5 or 10 minutes had passed. the fixed mine too and you can't even notice now if I don't tell you. I didn't think I would ever have full use back, took about a year, but it's just fine now, some numbness on each side, not enough that I notice it. Hurt like hell for about a month though! I got a rubber ball and squeezed it all day long for days on end to work the strength back up. Good luck :)
@cal352 simple enough, when you pull the lever, it pushes a bung into a hose which is full of fluid, and that pushes the fluid further down the hose to the end. at the end there is a caliper, and when the extra fluid floods into the caliper, it squeezes on the brake pads, which in turn pushes the pads against the brake disc. simple :)
@sufferer002 LOL its kinda amusing once the initial pain wears down a bit haha, and adrenaline makes everything lovely and wobbly haha, mine was saved to a point, although I never did find the tip!
@nc30chris It's actually a fairly common injury, most bike shops have at least one employee who has fallen victim to disc brakes!! Idc if i get hurt, just as long as it doesn't affect my ability to ride permanantly. It also tends to throb a lot on the second and third day...
i done this yesterday, my finger shhould have been right off but luckily i have overly huge bones and drink alot of milk, the bones completely broken, in the exact spot yours is off it was hanging on by a thread, they have managed to save it and its been stitched and pinned right through tip. i didnt cry.... actuall i laughed for a few seconds after it haha... cause im hardcore ;) .. u brakes are getting bought likes cant set my eyes on another disk brake
@sheeplikesganja lol disc brakes are FTW :) i didnt cry, just writhed around on the floor for a bit (after riding frantically home for about a mile lmao) well this was 11 months ago now, and for me it feels like it never happened, and has felt that way for a long long time not too :) get well soon bud x
oh and the weird thing is i didnt feel a thing! all i saw was a lot of blood coming out and i rinsed it and u could see my bone!! had to wait in E.R for like 3hours..the cloth tht was oon my finger to keep blood away from dripping every stuck to my finger when i had to get it off..the docter yanked it off..like the bandages,its soo painfulll
@hottmexican911 yeahhh pulling the bandages off hurts alot, but in the UK we use a dressing that doesnt stick to the bad dead skin, so pealing it off is far less painful :)
dude! im 14 and this happen to my on my pointer finger...it got stuck inbetween the spoke and chain and the tip got cut off..changing the bandages hurt so freaken bad! i had to let my skin grow back normal,now my finger is litterly the point finger =) haha its pointy..hahaa

i got my bike and i was oiling my chain, and i though sticking my hand in the disc brake was a smart idea, bang, a bit of my finger ended up on the ground next to me, ON A TUESDAY, I'm going through the same procedure with the grafting (i think) i know how you feel
