Because he had seen how losers like Yakon and Spopobich (the bald dudes Babidi had working for him) became stronger thanks to the Majin poweup, he AGREED to let Babidi use it (he could have resisted the possesion, but chose to let him do it because he knew he needed the extra-power in order to compete with Goku).

Basically, Majin Vegeta is SSJ2 Vegeta + Majin Powerup. Which in terms of power level, is equal to Goku's SSJ2 form. Without the Majin powerup, SSJ2 Vegeta is weaker than SSJ2 Goku.

Im not entirely sure what you guys arguing about here, but let me clarify everything for this battle. First of all, Vegeta didn't "cheat" to get the SSJ2. The official Daizenshuu states that he got that form during those 7 years just like Goku did. However, because he realized (during all his time with him, and then during Goku's "battle" with Yakon) that Goku had a much greater talent/potential than him, he knew that even if both of them used used the SSJ2, Goku would still be stronger.

Vegeta CAN go to SSJ2 without babidis help, the only thing that babidi helped him with, was the fact that he unleashed his EVIL side to a greater level, therefor increasing his strenght, because if you even watched DBZ with any dedication, you would know that he transformed into SSJ just because of his evil lusts and frustrations, this form "Majin Vegeta" is simply "Vegeta SSJ2-Evil Potential".

There is no evidence to suggest Goku is stronger than Vegeta at their respected forms, at best they were probably equal in power in their forms, don't even mention super saiyan three, Goku would have to destroy Vegeta quickly to win the battle, but if Vegeta could withstand Kid Buu for a considerable time, a Kid Buu who was in fact stronger than Gokus super Saiyan form, then he could definitely fight Goku for a considerable time, Goku would then return to base form while Vegeta is still super.
