  • shouldn't the horses be in single file?..

  • Seriously, Riders and horses both have the rights to use the roads, as do bikes and cars. It's like saying to a driver you're not allowed down a country lane just because you drive a car.

    People should grow up and realise this is allowed, it's in the highway code for crying out loud!

    Drivers should realise this is only to keep them and the horse safe from harm, unless you want a dead rider and a ruined car. Then who's fault is it?

    GROW UP!!

  • tbh thought what where the riders thinking? riding doubles down a narrow, twisty country lane isnt the best thing to be doing? but then again the driver should have waited.

    please cars slow down whilst passing by horses, it always spooks mine!

  • it comes down to this! equestrians are NOT going to stop using the roads! whether you think we have a right to use it or not! You shouldnt be driving like a nob head anyway! especially on twisty sharp bends in the countryside, where horses are likely to be! so unless you want to have the cause of serious injury or even death on YOUR conscience! just have a little respect! Horses have RIGHT OF WAY WHEN EVER THEY ARE ON THE ROAD! its taught to all learner drivers! its in the highway code! end of!

  • @Ruth1988 im agreeing with you but then again the riders shouldnt have been riding doubles down a twisted narrow road

  • @horseylover006 its actually in the highway code that horses ride 2 abreast on any road! riding single file is up to the individual! i find that when you try to ride single file people get too close! i've been clipped by many wingmirrors before now, when trying to let people passed! so i dont anymore! its just not safe!

  • @horseylover006 and on this advert the rider on the inside is a young person! so its safer for them to be on the inside!

  • You have to be a dumb-ass to ride a horse on a road like that.....the cops should be locked up for animal abuse and being dumb-asses out of season!! The road should be for one or the other....of course we are talking about England, not the brightest crayons in the box are we?? LOL!!

  • What gets my goat is there does not seem to be any official guide to bridleways on the internet. Talk about "needle in a haystack"!

  • Also, i'm not keen on this advert, it doesn't show riders well -mostly if a car is attempting to pass the horses are put into single file and if there still isn't enough room we pull them into driveways to let the vehicles pass. None of which they did is this ad, which doesn't help our plight to be respected out on the road when adverts like this show us in a bad light, especially to people not fond of horses it would make things worse. I don't think that this advert helps.

  • With an attitude like that towards other road users you should be kept off the road! It doesn't matter what the other vehicle is, another car, motorbike, cycle, horse or pedestrian -you should always drive sensibly and use your common sense to prevent any accidents! And the other party will do the same.

  • sorry, but the roads were MADE FOR HORSES IN THE FIRST PLACE. sort your attitude out, horse riders have just as much a right if not more than anyone else to be on the road, and it's inconsiderate people like you who cause a problem.

  • I don't even think I should waste my time on you- you obviously have no sense, are totally ignorant and probably don't have two brain cells to rub together. I hope you die :)

  • I couldn't agree more with abisheridee, what do you think transport was in the form of before cars? Horses perhaps?!

    And as you don't even drive yet, with the intelligence and common sense you're displaying I don't think riders are going to have to worry about seeing you on the road anytime this life. I don't even know WHY you're sitting around watching horse related videos.

  • Searched road safety videos coz there fucking funny;

    especially this one. with the stupid females riding a horse lmao;

    Your probaly 1 of these horse riding idiots; And i can certainly say when you discover cock; youll be riding that instead of horses.

    L m aao

  • @abisheridee Ha Ha. Horse riders have NO RIGHT to be on the road! It is a HORSE. Roads are to commute from one point to another. Where would you possibly be traveling to on a horse? Only ROAD TAX PAYERS should use roads.

  • @meinnnit You are incorrect horse riders and cyclists both have a right to be on the road and horses are quite common on country lanes such as shown in the advert. You will note there is no pavement so pedestrians could also be on the road.

  • @wozziesgirl horse riders and cyclists have every right to be on the road - just not with an enormous and heavy beast with a mind of its own. If I take a motor vehicle out I have to first show that i am equipted to control it safely and possess a licence. The vehicle has to demonstrate it is roadworthy each year with an mot. I then also have to insure my vehicle incase either I lose control of it or it fails to cooperate with me and I lose control of it and damage something or someone.

  • @meinnnit oh... and pay a tax for the privilage. Or I could avoid all this hastle and get a horse. Not have to prove that I can use it properly. Not have to insure my actions or vehicle against damage to others. Or even have to maintain it to make it safe for me and other road users. Then I could pointlessly plod along a road holding up traffic and risking everyone else. What, are there no fields anymore?

  • @meinnnit What makes you think that someone riding a horse does not pay "road tax"? You're pointing out that horses aren't commonly used for transportation anymore. Therefore, your typical horse rider will have a licence, and, very likely, a car. So, following your understanding: if I own a car, pay all taxes, have a motorcycle and pay for it, too, I feel I have a full right to ride my bicycle and horse on all roads I want. Now, how do you recognize which rider doesn't pay "road tax"?

  • @jasquer so if I pay road tax on my motor bike, that would cover my car? Or for the sake of your awkward argument, my elephant, should I choose to ride it down the lane? A horse is capable of causing significant death or injury should it become uncontrollable (like a car, motorcycle, van, hgvy, bus,coach,etc) but avoids any of the measures that are in place and are required by law for other road users.
