I so disagree ... Gladys stripped this song to its pure emotional rawness. She set the stage with the quiet verses, and then poured her beautiful soul into the chorus. I know overcooked when I see it, but this is done just right -- seared on the outside and all juicy and tender on the inside.

This is a wee bit overcooked. She should have kept it simple. Some very good singers, especially Black ones, over - embellish.
