Bonny (the original) is not simply a song that I like; it's something special, it's part of me; touches something deep down in my soul; needless to say, it's somehow "untouchable" to me; but music is too big, you just can't stop it; as far as I'm concerned this cover is nice; it.s nice because is different yet respectful and surely in no way scoffing; I don't like comparisons; they don't let you see things as they are. So, without prejudice, thumbs up.
Heel mooi, rustgevend gevoelig, bijzondere opbouw. Dat hebben de Editors toch goed gedaan. En aan het filmpje stoor ik mij niet, als je de film kent dan geeft dat geen conflicten met het nummer.
@toomuchwhiskey WTF are u saying, u idiot!? Editors are almost an exact copy of the Joy Division sound, even their singer has that deep baritone Ian Curtis-like voice. If u don't hear that, u are an ignorant fool!
@Bexorcist how about getting some music knowledge before throwing around that I am an idiot? So do all baritone people sound like Ian Curtis there are plenty of bands who aren't influenced by Joy Division who have vocals similar to his and he was not the first person to do it. Editors did not get influenced by Joy Division as they have stated many times and if you don't think that they you are the ignorant fool who cannot appreciate music.
@toomuchwhiskey It does not matter if they 'state' that they are not influenced by them. They just sound exactly the same! & BTW, where is my spelling mistake?
@Bexorcist 'u' is spelt you.... I suggest you listen to EVERY Joy Division track and Editors track, then state they sound the same. Also its by the way.
@toomuchwhiskey Oh my God, are u serious? Have you ever understood the concept of abbreviations or lyrical freedom? The point being that u understand what I mean. Dzjeezes, if u try to win a discussion that way, pretty pathetic. By the way, u spelled your commentary wrong aswell! Fucking idiot! And oh, I don't NEED to listen to every editors song because they all sound EXACTLY the same! It is just a mere fact that Editors sound IDENTICALLY the same as JD. Just like Customs!
@toomuchwhiskey BTW, it's 'don't', 'are you', 'weren't', 'as you look' and last but not least 'their' . Friggin' mongoloid! BTW, define 'influenced'? The Editors probably never heared of JD before they began playing together so obviously u can't state that they were 'influenced' by it, but the fact remains: They could be TWIN BROTHERS! (Editors being the smaller one with lactose intolerance & down-syndrome, like yourself;) )
Seriously this is much better than the original version.. I know that Prefab Sprout created the song, but the original isn't always the best. Oh and grats 'toomuchwhiskey', the vid makes perfect sense in this cover, specially on 2:45. 5*
@audioedge Agreed. For me, what makes the original is the outstanding vocal, and guitar tracks by Paddy, which the Editors omitted in favor of the predictable indie flourishes and hand claps.
Ironically, I only discovered who Joy Division were because people kept comparing Editors to them. Otherwise, I probably would have never heard of JD. Now both bands have changed my life.
i heard of JD before Editors ;) i was into munich and listened to the back room, and found out i saw Editors when they were supporting franz and liked em then but now i am a huge fan XD
Ok i am not doing this because of the Editors sounding like joy division bull s**t.
Besides i like both Editors and JD. And i think Ian C is a legend who cannot be compared to anyone and plus Tom sounds nothing i repeat NOTHING like him! So steven read the description before hand cheers

Joy Division bullshit??
Quite ironic that they sound nearly the exact same..
The editors have obviously been influenced by the sound of Joy Division..
Pity they dont have a better lyricist
