anyone else find that the Mahratta campaign is really easy? Even on hard and very hard I can clear out the Mughal's by bout 1710-20 depending on difficulty, and once you dominate all of India the wealth you generate means you can advance way faster than the European factions. By 1766 on hard, my prestige is 4900 and 2nd place is 800

My favorite country to play is Prussia, just because they are cool and have one of the best armies in the game:)

My favorite country to play as is Austria, because at the beginning of the game if you build up your economy for about 15-20 turns then unleash your massive army, you can quickly overwhelm Prussia, Poland-Lithuania, All of Italy and the Ottoman Empire with relative ease, as long as you have plenty of money saved up prior to declaring war.

although, as far as an all-around empire, Great Britain is the most versatile, seeing as most of the income generated in the game is overseas. It's easy to patrol waterways and keep a monopoly on sea trade, especially in the Americas and India. I started a new game as GB couple days ago, and I'm cranking out 100,000 gold (or whatever the currency is called) per turn, and that's with ships in all trade theatres and owning all the territories in America and India.

A new trick i just found, playing as Prussia: Know how like EVERY stinking german nation has allies with either france, great britain, poland, austria, or some big country? here's a solution to all of that. But first, we start with poland-lithuania by taking west prussia and poland itself, then making peace+alliance+trade agreement with them, whilst giving them back poland (worth it in the long run). invade saxony the same turn.

send your massive army of about 25 line infantry to the far west corner of saxony, but leave about 10 line infantry in magdeburg. wait one turn. declare war on westphalia. notice they are allied to every other german state and no big countries. wurttemburg, bavaria, and hanover now declare war on you and you get to conquer all of them in one turn. yay! next, turn your attention to Austria and hope they attack poland so you can go to war with them. if not, invade anyway. happy hunting :)

also, i made a screw up. invade saxony, not poland, first, so that courland doesnt declare war on you. in fact, in my game i made an alliance with them (they're quite belligerent for such a small country and will invade you. stupid? yes. annoying? even more so). Eventually, i went on to make allies with the ottomans and conquered sweden and great britain and the united provinces (never could get peace with them after going to war with Austria. anyway, hope this helps :D

This battle was the French version of Cannae where you surround the enemy and just kill them all... Perfect dude....:D

Actually, Cannae was fought way differently. Yes, Hannibal surrounded the Romans. But not nearly in the same way as Attila does - which shows Attila's own genius. However, at Cannae, Hannibal was outnumbered, so he spread his forces out real thin, and put his weakest troops in the middle, enticing the Romans to strike there, which they did. As soon as the Romans attacked, the middle line retreated as the outer lines curved around, and Carthaginian cavalry came around the sides and into the rear.

If you have better ground or better soldiers, winning battles where your outnumbered 2 to 1 isnt that hard. In one battle on mideval i had 2 huscarl regiments and 1 other regiment i cant remember. I fought off 15 regiments. I was in a castle though. I cant wait till i get a computer that can play this and ill acually test my strategys vs attila.

Another thing that is making me doubt that this is in very hard, is the way to computer take over forts. Instead of realizing that there is a trap at the center of the fort, with all the Troops surrounding the center area. The computer takes its chances places all their troops at the center and exterminate their entire army. It's so obvious. Either he is making up crap that this is in very hard, or he is taking advantage of the mishaps from the AI and cheaply winning this game from it.

Its understandable why he won. First of all, the computer was so stupid to realize he could have surrounded Attila's army through firepower. Instead the computer just charged all his troops, thinking he could win through massing his troops to overpopulate. Cramming his troops into a ball, making atilla surround his army, causing panic. Then the computer was stupid enough to allow Attila to charge his calvary from behind, when he could have avoided. I'm starting to doubt that this isin Very Hard.

it will be interesting what you do with this victory. you have taken Britian where do u go from here. you can finish them off in the Americas or finish your mainland enemy's such as the netherlands that are blockading your port or spain for pirating your trade routes in the medetterain
