  • Cake turned out very well. Will this freeze alright?

  • @1rencel Yes you can freeze it. Once the cake is completely cool, wrap it in a layer of plastic kitchen wrap (cling film) and then a layer of foil. The cake can be frozen for up to 6 months ;)

  • I really appreciate how you offer alternatives for the ingredients which we may not have. Very thoughtful and helpful. Thanks a lot! <3 from the West Indies

  • I enjoyed the video. What would it be like if u added a little cocoa powder? :)

  • I was hungry before I watched this video and now I´m starving xD

    It really looks delicious!

    (Greetings from sweden)

  • I tried the cake. I turned out yummy according to my mummy!!! thanks

  • Just had my first slice! Yummy (it wasnt as chocolaty l as I thought it would be, but I think that's because of the cheap weak choc milk I used) still delicious and simple!!! Thanks!

  • mines in the oven, fingers crossed

  • By chance can you give the amounts in cups for the fruit and chocolate milk. I'm gonna make this 2morrow btw. and what would happen if the fruits didn't soak for the 8 hours???

  • @Zuukarimoto I can't give a cup measurement, as the measurement specified is a weight. Depending on what type of dried fruits you use, the cup measurements would be different. You need to soak the fruit for the time specified, otherwise the cake won't bake correctly ;)

  • looks beautiful!

  • After 8 hours of soaking the fruit in the refrigerator, does one need to wait till the fruit comes to room temp before mixing in the flour?

  • @auntylulubulu No, no need to wait ;)

  • 248 Degrees Fahrenheit? Will 250 do?

  • @OTCDF Yeah that's fine ;)

  • What is Christmas like in Australia with it being really hot?

  • @nilelg5 In my family, we have our turkey, ham etc cold with salads and seafood ;)

  • i made a slight boo boo when making this ..erm i kinda added the flour when i was supoost to add the fruit and choc milk i only just realised now after and hour ...LOL do you think it be ok ?

  • AMAZING RECIPE! i ended up eating some of the fruit and chocolate mix so i had to cut down on the flour and baking powder! Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks a lot for the recipe. Am from India and was just looking for something easy, but not this easy! You made my day. Have a great Xmas

  • Thanks its so ammazinngg ! I tried it thanks alot!

  • This cake looks so tasty!!! I'll give it a try today. Could I add in some cherry brandy (like 3 to 4 tablespoons) or will it disturb the dough to set in the fridge? Sorry for my bad english I come from Germany :) Keep it up, your recipes are great.

  • @CheatsyKoopaFreak Yes, you could add some cherry brandy to the fruit mixture ;)

  • Could you please give the oven temperature in Fahrenheit? Thanks!

  • @gobin56 There is a link on my channel page to a Conversion Chart that will help you out ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow Thanks!

  • @OnePotChefShow Or you could just ask Google "120 C in F" and it will tell you "120 Grad Celsius = 248 Fahrenheit"

(It's "Grad", because I'm German, you'll probably see degrees ;)

  • Hey David, I haven't tuned into your videos for a long time and I have to say this made my day.

  • @Souljaboy66sVideos Welcome Back :)

  • @OnePotChefShow Glad to be back.

  • Hi David can I use raisin only?

  • @Noi610 If you wish ;)

  • think a dash of rum would help it taste more xmasy , but i did make it and the recipe worked fine

  • go the chocolate oak milk...oi oi oi nice cake 1pc

  • may i suggest something go to masterchef and win it

  • david can i substitute dried fruits to chocolates chips?? cuz i really don't like dried fruits.... =/ and if so, do i still have to pop it into the fridge or....??

  • @alwy963 Not really - Christmas Cake is Fruit Cake. I'd recommend making a different cake if you don't like fruit cake ;)

  • That looks super easy.

  • aww you didnt cut it open, i wanted to see what it looked like inside, bet its nice with a load of wipped cream :)

  • The one question I have, are the oven temps give for fan forced oven or will i need to adjust? Love your videos by the way.

  • @Justamum1000 Reduce the temperature by 10-20 degrees Celsius if using a fan forced oven ;)

  • This is the food you hate.

  • I'd eat the batter like that :p

  • how do people dislike your vids?

  • Can you make chocolate Christmas cookies PWWEEAASE??? :3

Thumbs up so he can see.

  • @wiwa116 Have you been reading my mind?!?! Keep an eye out for next week's video ;)

  • Ummmm.....why didn't you taste it? U always taste it. U allergic, or something? Everytime u go "mmm that's......", I drool all over like a St Bernard =P

  • @179178 I was giving this cake to a friend as a gift - It wouldn't be much of a gift I ate part of it LOL

  • i thought that was the cake from portal for a sec XD

  • @khrulez1 The cake is a lie ;)

  • you didn't try it???!!! how do we know it tastes okay??? but - raisins marinated in chocolate milk is a culinary adventure I would like to take...

  • SHUT UP there is no way this cake is only 3 ingredients! :O

Could you use chocolate soy milk and make a vegan cake!?

  • @decafeine I've never tried it with chocolate soy milk, but it should work just as well ;)

  • Can I add Brandy, and set it on fire?

  • @RichyJam2011 You can if you wish ;)

  • Nooooo I stopped watching at "dried mixed fruit"....it's not for me, lol!

  • looks fanbloomingtastic

  • looks good man, when can i live with you? ;)

  • David I just knew you would make something close to a Christmas Pudding. I will have to try this recipe. It sounds just divine.

  • This rocks man!!

  • Does this taste like normal Christmas cake?

  • @kezzymodo Yes - it's more or less the same as a standard Christmas Cake, just easier to put together ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow do u have to use dried fruits? I HATE DRIED FRUITS :(

  • @bskulldragon100 Christmas Cake = Fruit Cake - if you don't add the dried fruits, it's not Christmas Cake ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow

...my bad, srry for bieng so ingnorent D:

  • @bskulldragon100 No problem - I hope you give the cake a go, you might like it :)

  • You sir, are a bloody genius!! What an amazing and simple recipe, I am going to email Youtube and ask them to roll out a 10 star rating system just so I can apply it to this video!!! Thanks for sharing, Christmas greetings from the West of Ireland...

  • look's great love gonna give this 1 a go. how's the new flat ?? or are you still in the transition phase, Have A GREAT AND SAFE SUMMER.

  • @jbc19621 Still in the process of moving - should be settled in soon :)

  • YOU DID NOT TASTE IT :(

  • Sorry, what fruits are there in a standard mixed dried fruits? Raisins and... others? We only have individuals fruits here, not mixed, so I can mix them together but I have no idea what fruits are there. :D Thanks!

  • @annetta82 Generally, mixed fruit contains raisins, sultanas, currants, mixed dried citrus peel etc - but any combination of dried fruit will work. Ensure larger pieces are chopped up to avoid large lumps in the cake ;)

  • Wow, this is the first recipe of yours i've seen where my first thought was "Wow... gross"

  • @blackbirdxo Fruit Cake isn't for everyone, but give it a go - you might like it ;)

  • I want to know where you got this recipe from? I mean, it's so out there that it's not from mainstream cooking! No eggs??

    Bernie in Sydney ❤

  • @Bernster2011 I found it in one of my old cookbooks, and adapted it slightly by adding the jam glaze and decorations :)

  • wow you dont need no eggs ? also can i cover this in royal icing if i want to ? will the cake hold it :/

    great btw :)

  • @chilliconcarnie1 This is a dense cake, so it will support royal icing. Use the jam glaze as shown, as this will help the royal icing to grip onto the cake nicely ;)

  • i have a question about that slef rising flour, i cant find it in shops so ill have to add baking powder, but 2 spoons for 1 cup or 2kilos of flour?

  • @faumas Add 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder for every Cup of Plain Flour used. So for this recipe, add 2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder and 2 Cups of Plain Flour ;)

  • hi! i found another "cheater recipe"

    9gag.com/gag/900274

i'm not sure if it would work though (a fren of mine said it will explode in the microwave ><)

    Advice? thanks!

  • @ravniac It won't explode but the texture you get is usually a bit of a risk. Might be good, might be chewy. You have to be very exact with the ingredients for a microwave cake.

  • why are you so awesome

  • @1235516 My parents were made of epic ;)

  • I'm waiting for the first one who asks if you can use something else than dried fruits ^_^

  • @EndzeitkindLP LOL we've already been there hahahaha :P

  • can i add a couple of tablespoons of rum to the chocolate milk mixture when its soaking?

  • @manonmoon12 Absolutely - that would be fine ;)

  • Reminds me of this video from 2 years ago:

    watch?v=SSDHsnni8FM

  • 120 degrees celsius for a fan-forced oven or no fan?

  • @yocomeatmebro All my temperatures are for a conventional oven. Reduce temperature by 10-20 degrees for a fan forced oven ;)

  • what mascara do you use?

  • @Elinnaxoxo LOL I'm too pretty for makeup :)

  • I've made this each Chrismas for the last few years. Alot of people who I've told about it find it hard to believe that you can make a Christmas Cake with only 3 ingrerdients.

Also another suggestion. For a diabetic friendly version replace the chocolate milk with fruit juice.

  • @IanGorton You can also replace the milk with freshly brewed espresso coffee - works just as well ;)

  • I *love* the cheater aspect ;-) ... but doesn't it end up with a chocolate flavour? (Really would like to know 'cause, honestly, I'm about as far as away from 'chocoholic' status as one can be.

    Thanks.

  • @NewbieCamper Actually, there isn't much of a chocolate flavour in the cake. The fruit is the primary flavour so the chocolate gets sort of pushed aside!

  • @OnePotChefShow Glad to hear, so now I can give it a try ;-). Thanks.

  • WHA??? That was so quick on 3 ingredients

  • How on earth did you come up with that !!!!

  • Awww you didn't cut it to show us inside.. D-:

Is it a gift for someone? :-)

  • @Sorrrow1984 Yes it was a gift. The cake is dense but reasonably moist on the inside ;)

  • where's the alcohol! ;)

  • @mallybo0o Feel free to add a splash of rum or brandy to the fruit mixture if you wish ;)

  • Hi, It would be real nice if you next time tell how big you baking tin is in diameter. It's difficult to see just by looking at the video. :-D Thank you for sharing. :-D

  • @agneshenriette I used a 25cm springform cake tin for this recipe ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow Thank you so much for your quick answer :-D

  • wow that was incredibly simple! but i would'e liked to see how the texture turned out and how moist it is. can't wait to try it (:

  • @egad88 It's a dense cake that is reasonably moist. The sticky glaze helps to lock in all the flavours and moisture ;)

  • OMG this is a amazing recipe !

No use eggs ! Not use oil and butter !

This is only 3 easy ingredientes and looks very delicious !

I think this can be a gift for Xmas !!! Just apply a clear plastic, a big bow and..voilá!

    Thank you so much !!!

    Xoxo from Brazil

  • Aww i wanted to see inside it ;(

  • @ihave7sacks I was going to cut into it, but it looked so gorgeous I didn't want to spoil it. Besides, it was a gift for someone - they wouldn't have liked it with a big chunk missing!!! :P

  • @ihave7sacks I wanted to see inside texture as well.

  • i saw a very small article with ur name mentioned i the sunday paper that sounds really yummy and a good one with no alcohol PLUMP LUMPS AND STICKY GOO nigella eat ur heart out it looks really good i bet it tastes even better i am going to try this

  • @LemonDemon08 cool what does it taste like?

  • WOW

    Must make one!

  • do you have a piercing on the left side of your head? at about 0:09, it looks like there's something there...

  • @farflungfloyd why were you observing him XD lol

  • @farflungfloyd Um, no - no piercings ;)

  • cheaters never win

  • @sean19996 except for david :P

  • veryyyy nice :D

  • This was seriously so easy! I'm definitely going to make this!

  • that is easy!... I never attempt cakes, but this ridiculously simple recipe might tempt me to try it out... However, I feel that the cake should be boozy... so some brandy or rum might find its way into it...

  • @Greengate777 Feel free to add a splash of rum or brandy to the fruit mixture is you wish ;)

  • Had my christmas cake in the cupboard for 2 weeks now :D This recipe looks alot easier than the one I use, which has many ingredients :P Great recipe if you dont have a whole weekend to prepare your cake.

  • Comment removed

  • I am absolutely floored at the simplicity of this recipe! David, you never fail to deliver! Thanks! :) I'm torn between this and your Christmas Marshmallow Puddings from last year!

  • Oh that looks great you had me at the Chocolate Milk thanks.

  • Yummy

  • wow i will be making this with my mum yum thanks so much :D

  • @becsta457639 Does it taste alot like chcolate?

  • doesnt look very tasty -__-

  • @lambokun no it doesnt look very tasty it loks EPICALLY TASTY :D LOL YUUM

  • Is there someone there to eat that cake with you? lol

  • I love your christmas episodes! :D can normal milk work as well? Do you think it will still taste good?

  • @MissPonderosa I recommend using chocolate milk or freshly brewed black coffee for best results. I've never done this with plain milk, so I can't be certain if it would work ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow wow coffee!? I love coffee! That sounds awesome :) thanks onepot!

  • @MissPonderosa If you use plain milk you'd probably need to add some sort of sweet tasting spice. I'd recommend cinnamon and mixed spice. Chocolate milk also has a LOT of sugar in it.

  • @MissPonderosa Whoops, after I wrote "Chocolate milk also has a LOT of sugar in it." I meant to say "so you'd probably want to add some sugar". Probably brown sugar, I think.

  • @Knittingand haha no worries, thanks for taking the time to reply :)

  • Can i do this with sorts of candy besides dryed fruit?

  • I'm gonna leave out the fruit and add chocolate chips instead, because like you used to say :"Healthy sucks..."

  • @theadorjespert A kilo of chocolate chips? Nigella would be proud of you :)

  • Damn not first

  • First! Also good job david

  • @jdogger5 Actually your second

  • @ClovisKoo haha yeah i know. as i pressed enter the first comment came up.

  • FIRST COMMENT!!!! YUMMY I cant wait to eat it
