I stopped watching American Idol after Vonzell didn't WIN SEASON 4 because Carrie was not the better singer on the show. Vonzell has the stage presence and the "VOICE"!!! This performance was GREAT and she constantly had GREAT PERFORMANCES!!!

Yep, Fantasia got enough album sales worldwide after releasing her I Believe but I think consumers now are wiser. Since Fantasia, Tamyra and Latoya have same genre - there are so many great voices, pretty looking and especially modern style in their voices like Beyonce, Rihanna, etc. which these female black AI alumni got common style in their voices. I did not like Carrie during season 4 because I don't like country music and vocally she was just fair although she got kinda high range but she's prettier than Vonzell. Now I realized that in the US country music is very marketable and AI really got big money during Carrie's very successful album sales. For me, in season 4, Simon's favorite was Nadia Turner because vocally she was good but I think her facial expression when she performs made her voted out.
I believe Simon is really fair is judging. Like in the case of Melinda, she really praised her in season 6 because she was really vocally sensational even though she looks like Shrek lol.
I don't think the white people don't buy black cds. I believe they were used to buy, jaded because most great singers in the US are black although the blacks are just only 10 percent of the population. The whites or other races are choosy, smart and already set a high standard of sense of musicality after Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, etc.
One more thing, Jennifer Hudson was voted off because her style in her voice was like broad way and kinda pitchy too during season 3 although she has bigger voice quality. She was a big star now after gotten best supporting actress in Dreamgirls. Lucky for her she gotten the role after the audition and did fairly in the movie.

@LifeintheformofSean she actually made that album before idol and put it on itunes after. Although I do think the first album wasn't even bad her music has still gotten A LOT better. Check out her song Dirtbag, for example. She's trying to get her new material out but management was was holding her back. Now she's finally trying to do her own thing. That's why it's taking a while for her to get out there. I have tons of faith in her though

Oh how I loved that little inflection (run) she did at 1:20 - 1:21. That was so Whitneyesque. Vonzell was easily may fav that season. It was a travesty she didn't at least make it to final two but I really thought she should have won.
