Thanks for the post. We tried driving along that highway in 2004 to get to Alpine but the road was closed due to a wildfire. We had to turn back before Hannigan's Meadow and take the road round to the east. That was a long day's driving but beautiful all the same.
We started on the Devils Highway and right away got stuck behind a Mine Truck! The Video is jumpy because I was using a camcorder that has Optical Image Stabilization. Normally a good thing.. but not when you're riding a motorcycle. Next time I'll use the other Panny 3CCD with EIS

It used to be Hwy 666. Why did they change it?
I was born in Old Morenci now part of the mine. I'd like to take a hike up Monster Road see whats left of Grandma's house.
The clip ends at the top of Stargo...ah the good old days.
