what a butcher job . wanna be decorators to funny i wouldnt let you upholster my dogs bed you wouldnt now a good upholstery job to save your life martha stewart what an ass . so fake
lol.. this is funny..first they are taking a common sofa with nothin exciting about it. its ugly color..then they change to even uglier and rough material.. then they change alll the design elements of the couch..! so what was a 50s couch that looks like 70s couch.. now looks like 1930s grandma couch.....why not just buy a couch..if your gonna be so boring and odd with redoing it..lol
I bet she paid a fortune for the couch, and then she is going to take it apart???? Get real. She should have just found someone to make her a new one. At the end, I bet she spent $25,000 for the couch, $15, 000 for the new fabric, and $20,000 to have it redone. $60,000. So basically pocket change.
I wonder what would have happened if the fabric was pushed to the back with a new yard stick bought at walmart, instead of an old-fashioned measuring stick? That would be a mega faux-pas.
And this solidifies my reason NOT to like Martha Stewart. The original couch was beautiful and had wonderful detailing. The end result looks like the crap they sell today. The designer (pardon the expression) just ruined it...it has NO personality now. And why are the pillows puckered? F.A.I.L.
@stradplayer614 i have that same fabric on my luv seat its 100 a yard. it beautiful an very lux. i luv the sofa and if u dont know furniture u wudnt no the dif
@stradplayer614 i am "the shopper"! I say that their are certain fabrics that are not availible at hancock, or jo anns. the fabric that you see in this clip is very pricey. now this is not to say that you may not run up on a great deal. I have run up on taff silk at 10.00 that had once been 100.00. it can happen but as a rule the good silk taff and silk velvet, btr grade is silk damask is usually always the btr part of 100.00 . the knit backing alone is 7 a yard plus the cost of the scotch guard
That's a decent upholstery job, but confusing. Why would anyone buy a historic piece of furniture and then strip away every historic detail? The mid-century modern aesthetic is definitely an acquired taste in this age of mass-produced, genericized furniture, but it would have been better to have that peice end up in the hands of a collector and let Alexis order a new piece in that fabric.
ffs if I took more than 3 hrs to do this basic piece I would be fired.max an hour to strip and 2 hrs from start to finish( not including sewing)4 weeks? how slow are you dude
I hate you Martha , Your just to good at what ever has your name on. Keep up with your quality , and thank you for the video. I need that information.
Wow. Basically we're taking an amazing mid-century sofa and turning into an ikea-looking bland piece. The cushion spacing, buttons, welting and mitering were all part of the original, beautiful design. I didn't like the orange color, but the design was beautiful.

yup i didn't like then new couch ... all the character of the old couch wasn't preserved and it lost its appeal
