  • I'm out...

  • now i want to get this show cause' I stumbled upon this opening

  • @Pokelucelop its a great short series. it may seem plain at first, but its awesome

  • I feel like I'm sitting in a bar listening to someone strummin his beats and getting out his thoughts through his drunken state, with a few smokes burning beside him in an ashtray. This song and his voice is so full of honesty, I absolutely love it (:

  • Jesus Christ, I finally found this song. The very song I keep remembering with a freaky bulldog voice at the very first seconds of the song lawl

shiiiiiiiiiit Niea_7 I remember watching this on AXN long long ago

  • dat voice

  • This is the most nostalgic sounding song ever.

  • One of the best opening sequence i've ever seen

  • sounds like he has a sore throat..

  • the dude is high as fuck

  • I lost so hard.

  • Japanese Bob Dylan?

  • Someone give that motherfucker some halls.

  • 0:59 WTF is wrong with this guy?

  • freakin' awesome

  • 0:20 the same bird from serial experiments lain op!

  • anyone know what songs they use for when niea uses the radio?

  • lol this show is funny i loved it i love all his work , Experiment lain, Haibane Renmei they r all awesome! just thinking about it in every show this directer makes he always has to have crows in it.......i totaly forgat his name lol

  • @Ushionai The director's name is Tomokazu Tokoro. He also directed Haibane Renmei and did the key animation for Lain. And yes, you are completely right about the crows. It seems like the people behind this animes like this birds a lot. It is like Chrono Trigger creators, who seem to love cats.

  • @TheTalespramos cool im not the only one who thinks that, good to know =D

  • aww listening to this song brings back my youthful highschool days how nostalgic

  • whats this anime about?

  • omg this is anime is too old. Vivan los 2000's

  • The animation looks good I might check this out.

  • This cartoon is so awesome. I loved the feel of it. My father used always joke around and call me a freeloader- just like how mayuko would tell niea in stressful situations.

  • Ah, meager living :) I love this anime because it's about finding happiness even when your so down in the dumps poor. Definatly relatable for the college grad ^.^;

  • Kind of souns like the japanese version of Tom Waits, cool xD

  • Throat cancer is bad, mmkay?

  • Is this guy smoking weed, or is 200 something years old?

Either way, this is a bizzare change from all the typical openings usually involving some J-pop teen singer.

  • Interesting fact: this opening was sung by a 21 year old japanese girl.

  • Okay, whos idea was it to get the guy with throat cancer to sing the theme song?

  • anyone who attempts to sing this song using his voice would die less than a min...

so don't try to laugh or mimic one's unique talents...

  • what the hell is the about? i do not need anymore Lain type animes i am ok with paranoia agent types

  • @rei612 It's about as far from Lain as you can get. It's more like a very quirky District 9. NieA is one of a group of aliens who crash landed on earth and are trying to integrate with Japanese society. She's also a freeloader and junk scavenger, living with a very poor student named Mayuri.

She causes Mayuri no end of trouble, and they both have trouble enough as it is. It's a very hard anime to describe, quirky, funny, but melancholy, about people dealing with poverty and hardship.

  • así o mas ronca la voz XDDDD // omg someone give some medicine to the person is singing lol

  • dioss ME ENCANTA LA SERIE Y LA CANCION

  • funny xD

  • His voice scares me

  • buen opening!!!1

  • lovely

  • sion's brilliant uhhh his originality ohh yeah if ya know this anime then ur a real otaku~!!

  • omg no way I'm an otaku?! Noooo (=.=)!!!!

  • I love Sion! Sion is a great singer and song writer! Some people will just not get his greatness.

  • This was an anime really hard to find.

  • i love this anime not many otakus where i live know this anime they only watch wats on tv.

  • Right next to where you are crying Right next to where Im blue Dry wind is lying- In the city with gloomy people Come here! Its dangling a bright abandon And a strength to be so-what I cant be close to sadness Because Im not surrounded by people Like a person in happy mode I cant change anything So I can at least manage this Like a person in happy mode

  • Is this Patty or Selma from the Simpsons?

  • hah WOW

    vietpridewoldwide i agree

i've always thought that it's the theme of this anime

which really makes sense through out

    hah

but anyway the indian dude rocks

  • Meaning of this anime is about alienating, discrimination, poverty and be strong in life. The voice is intendedly made to be scratchy and sad to fit the meaning of the anime. It's totally art although It's quite bad to make fun of Indian in the movie. What if Japanese go to foreign country and is make fun of.

  • Well, he still can't sing. It may have meaning and all, but honestly he can't sing. The singer doesn't have a singing voice, so whats wrong with a laugh or two in that direction?

  • Umm...he can sing, that's kinda why he's singing here, if I'm not mistaken he also does the ending to Serial Experiments Lain, which shows his better side but really if you understand it's art then appreciate it, don't laugh at it.

  • Why can't I laugh at it? I'm not allowed to laugh at a few squares on the wall next to the Mona Lisa either?

  • Well if Rapping is considered a genre then he's a magnificent singer, but still I love his singing cause it's different and sets him apart, have you taken the time to listen to any of his other songs? Regardless I'm with Tetsu if you can't understand and appreciate it then don't laugh at it.

  • @Ellisonism

To each their own? I mean, I should be able to laugh at it right? I don't have to like every genre and type of music, symbolic or otherwise, and I laughed at a rap song with the lyrics "my money taller than a hall of midgets". Though while symbolic and meaningful, true and serious, it is still funny. And if it sounds like someone is about to keel over from lung cancer and is singing, well, I think some weeaboos are taking offense at some lightheartedness a bit too much.

  • To each there own yeah, you can laugh at it which I know contradicts what I said but I should have said don't post that you laughed at it. Idk, this has been so long ago I'm not too enthused about what I said from before so I'm not going to comment in detail =x

  • I didn't really like the opening at first too, but I think it just needs a while before you start liking it. And, as haibane13 and some other people here already mentioned, It's not like it was completely "out of place".

  • I have no idea why,

But I love the beginning song.

    The voice is scratchy,

    but I still love it.

    Weird, huh?

  • horrendous voice

  • SERIEOUSLY this is a singer Singing!!! omg smoking to much *faint* LOL

  • The major topic in this anime is poverty . A good opening song would not have fit with the rest of the anime that´s why the OP song is a down beat , scratchy voice , and meloncholic lyrics fit better .

  • Not to mention it's kinda nice to hear something different from the regular, up-beat, campy anime openings.

  • Exactly my thoughts on this song. I think its great song and fits perfectly for the Niea opening.

  • thats what you get from smoking 3 and a half packs a day since your were 15.

  • lol I haven't snickered like that in a while... that voice is a killer

  • im glad i have the box set

  • it would be a good song if the singer wasnt 100 years old.

  • Someone has been smoking a bit too much. :D

  • 00:22; what is the symbolism of a black crow taking flight in Japan? (I have seen it elsewhere; for example, in the anime OP of "Lain", a black crow takes flight and the shadow passes over the character Lain before time stops.)

  • I'm not sure, but it's no surprise that Yoshitoshi ABe is involved in this series as he was also involved with Lain and also with Haibane Renmei, where the crows play a major role in the story. Seems to be something he uses often.

  • I miss this anime..

  • Her voice is pretty odd, not to mention her appearance. She also did the closing song for Serial Expirements Lain which is also one of ABe's works.

  • wiii, q bueno!!^^

    Love niea_7!!

  • O.o

    Laryingitis?

  • lol. i was thinking the same thing actually.

  • Thanks for uploading. I love this song. What's the Name of it and whats the Artist.

    NieA_7 is cool

  • It is "Koko Made Oide (Come On Over Here)" by SION

  • Thank you!
