New distributions require less customization these days. For me though, I still find myself customizing all OSes I have installed. It took me almost two weeks to customize OSX to use at work and found that some things just couldn't be done. Unlike Linux, if there is a pain, you can't cure it because its locked down. I had to give the Mac back because I was just not going to use it. Maybe its just us sysadmins that feel constraint to be locked down like that.
You can say that. Although without the $120 every two years. Also, compiz fusion has 3 times the features in a 2 year development cycle and WAY MORE customizable.

Every Linux distribution is great -- but only if you understand how to customise it.
I once had Linux on my computer and it killed my partition scheme from top to bottom.
I like Linux very much, but I love OS X.

Errm, no. Linux is not a rip off of Apple.
They are both based on the stable UNIX system which dates back about 10 years before DOS (What windows is based on).
Neither is a rip off. They are just based on the same secure and stable system.
