  • Dam that's fast..my n95 takes like a minuite or so

Can't wait to get my hand on this 2mrw

  • Now all we need is:

Maemo 5+Android+Nokia N9 specs and appearance and BOOM, WE CAN SAY:

    SUCK MY PRICK !!! IPHONE 5 !!!! :))

  • YOU ARE NOOB THIS IS AIM !!! low....

  • quake with no mouse? fuck this who wanna play like that

  • quake with mouse? fuck this who wanna play like that

  • @juodaj you can play it with mouse if you want. must be bluetooth one tough

  • Where can I download it please?

  • aim hack?

  • @REVOLTAR53 Auto-aim, its not a hack :)

  • Gameplay on that seems really awesome... NOT :D Why even try something like this on a phone? Its not meant to be played like that.

  • cheater!!:D

  • "Don't hurt me" mode ;)

  • IPhone !!!

  • Was the n900 overclocked? Also is openarea related to this game? cuz they look similar..

  • Look, and people still saying that Iphone is better. This machine is the best thing ever made... well, Nokia is King!!!

  • @Maurody I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! n900 and galaxy s2 are tha best devices EVER! between n900 and galaxy s2, I prefere n900 cuz you can more things than galaxy, so n900 makes tha rules, bro!!! \m/

  • @aruxandeicosmin yes! I have N900 and i love it!! is beautiful as my girlfriend hahah. no seriously, after n900 Nokia n9 is really good. and obvviously Samsung galaxy II is impressing. Remember the nokia lumia 800 with 1.4 ghz processor wow! hehe Nokia is King and Father!

  • So at this rate, in 8 years, we will be able to run Crysis on phones.

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker u can do it on the iphone lol

    search crysis on the iphone

  • @zawette what your leaving out is the fact that the game will be played over the net and not directly using the phones capabilities. Besides that the iphone is garbage. always has been always will be. you should have read a bit farther in that search you did.

  • Looks preety kickass and smooth. I can't wait for my N900.

  • My old n95 8gb runs it verry well

  • i wud like to see starcraft on this device wud be so awesome!!!

  • @snuski BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG thumbs up on that one. starcraft's native resolution was like 600x480 or something, pretty close to the n900's 800x480. should look pretty damn cool. micro-management may suck juuuuuuust a little, and they'd have to work out a way to transfer the classic left-click select and right-click attack/move into a stylus tap ..hmm. and of course blizzard would probably deny any sort of maemo port; probably why it hasn't already happened :( we'll see.

  • @BrEnNo1023 it acctualy has been done in the name "stratagus" youtube it or google, i read on their homepage yesterday that they stoped uppdating it and are focusing on "bos wars" based on the stratagus engine.

  • @snuski hooooooooooooooly...i'm looking at a youtube video of it now... it's actually now called 'strategy gaming engine' now in the app manager...and i've downloaded it and NOW i need to figure out how to get (add? download? install?) starcraft ON my n900 RIGHT now!!!

    I'm...excited XD

but where does it go after you install it? 0.0 i'll check out the maemo site..

  • @snuski actually scratch that, it doesn't work. not only can i not get stratagus to work (i can't even find it in my n900 after i install it) but i have no way to launch stargus after i put it into my SD card. it's not worth the effort. maybe if there was a step-by step tutorial with the RIGHT instructions (some instructions that actually make sense and actually work when i follow them)...i'd give it another go, but until then... grrrr computers -..-

  • @BrEnNo1023 yeah dude ive been trying to find a step by step tutorial but dont seem to find any that works kinda disapointing :( but if u find anything hook me up will ya?

  • @snuski i was looking last night, the best one i could find was this w ww(.) nokian900applications (.)com / starcraft-for-nokia-n900 / (remove brackets and crap -.-)

but it failed for me, the link to the stratagus version 0.1-4 download the site provides is broken...and the instructions are completely out of date too because there's a new version (stratagus 2.2.2.5 or something) in the app manager. i dunno..give it a go i suppose, it didn't work for me so i gave up.

  • @snuski also the comments on that page say that there's bugs where units clip through each other and walk over water, dont recognise barriers and the enemy AI is a vegetable..it sounds crap compared to the PC version. meh.

  • +1 3gs better

  • @firesmoll N900/920 owes 3gs and 4gs. Smoke on that.

  • Is it possible to play this game on the n900 with a controller like a ps3 controller?

  • Hey, can I strafe using the touchscreen too? I want to see some action strafing, aiming and jumping with just the accelerometer and the touchscreen.

  • Naja, erinnert mich an alte C=64 Zeiten... ist ja nichtmal AMIGA QUalität... tztztz.. auf meinem N900 wird nur QUALITY installiert (worauf ich noch immer warte).. :(

  • Aim!

  • rly.

  • N900 is a computer with phone runs with Linux Iphone is a smartphone only works with apps which you can not customize or emulate anything no need to compare n900 and new HTC with Iphone they are clearly better in everyway 4g may be better but still it won't be a computer phone unless they change it's system

  • OMG i remember this game! I used to play it on PlayStation 2 like 6 years ago or something :P

  • on mp sux but 4 fun nice 5/5

  • one question, how do you quit the game?

  • @seasondyes1990 Ctrl+Backspace.

  • try mouseaccel in the console

  • Why are there so many trolls on youtube? This is cool, regardless if its better on a pc or not. Every video I read comments on has ppl arguing with each other over ridiculous inane points. :( Sad user is sad....

  • did he died?

  • why the hell the target just follows tht guy :-/

  • where can you download this ?

  • tv out is half way workin on my tv. its a samsung T240HD. it comes up really fussy and it black and white. and the sound is not workin either. my xbox works fine on the same connectors. is there somethimg wrong with my tv out cable or my n900????

    please help

  • maybe you have the cables wrong ?

  • i play q3 on e90 with bt mouse

  • It is using .qvm files or standard Linux shared library link files (.so) ?

  • i have quake on my n900 and its ace! one question tho, is there a way of getting to the main menu so i can exit propperly during game play because i have to force shut down if i cant be arsed finishing the game? i'm sure theres a way.

    Thanks

  • This needs a mouse and some keys. But otherwise: EPIC WIN! :D

I bet the N900 does support Bluetooth input devices.

    Imagine the possibilities!

  • generaly n900 is better than iphone

  • ummm . . . ya think????

  • iphone is just for gaming

    n900 is complete phone ;D

  • I don't say that iPhone is better than N900(Camera sucks, browser doesn't support flash, it hasn't keyboard, flash, VGA camera etc.)But as gaming device iPhone is much better

  • The nokia port is bette than the iphone's port. Currently the iphone's port is incomplete, but yes, the current fastest iphone 3GS/iPod Touch 3G does run it better.

I have both the iPod touch 3G and Nokia N82 running quake 3. I still prefer my n82.

If only they could make the controls for hte iphone quake 3 similar to the game Sandstorm or Nova (with a virtual joystick to move and using your finger to look around)

  • The N900 port is also incomplete.

    .

However, porting linux games (or ports) to N900 should be much simpler and straight forward than porting to iPhone.

The NES, SNES, GB, GBA emulator are working quite well on N900. The MAME emulator is also working on about half of the games I've tried.

And there is NDS emulator is being made. That would make it a very good portable gaming device.

All without any kind of jailbreaking required.

  • are the iphone games just like the ipod games if yes u could buy nokia n9oo as ur phone and ipod touch as ur gaming device

  • @kaje675 iPod Touch 3G has same hardware as iPhone 3GS

  • Ahahahah please stop comparing far less powerful phones like the iPhone (even the 3G) or the HD2 with the N900, it just makes people with a little more knowledge than you laughing

  • @torpedo4890 I just said that iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch3G runs it much faster.

  • Read twaelti comment.

The Iphone 3GS GPU is underclocked compared to the one of the Nokia N900, so I think it would be difficult for it to run something faster than a N900... Like all the Apple hardware: great to see, bad to run.

  • iPhone 3GS and N900 have the same Processor! And they both have 600Mhz, not less not more.

  • @aliancemd We were talking about GPU, not CPU. Same CPU, but iPhone has a less powerful (downclocked) GPU, and the N900 got much more virtual memory (1GB of the N900 VS. 256MB of the iPhone). These things make the N900 far more powerful than the Apple thing.

C'mon guys you can't even try to compare the iPhone with the N900

  • Nope, N900 has 256MB Physical Memory like iPhone and 768 Virtual Memory(Virtual is a lot more slower than physical). By the way iPhone's GPU is the same as the N900 GPU but iPhone has VGX that N900 don't have. I'm not an iPhone fan but u have to admit that they have the same specs. Here it's all about software, Apple are very good at that.

  • @aliancemd Please read carefully, I wrote Virtual Memory in my post, and yes, it is slower but still helps a lot (try to disable your PC's virtual memory and use only RAM, it will become just unusable).

I'll never admit a wrong thing: iPhone has slower Wifi (7Mb/s VS 10Mb/s of the N900), less GPU frequencies, less battery power, a sucking camera, less recording power, less virtual memory and less useful software (yes, I don't look at number of apps, I want useful apps).

  • I don't use Virtual Memory on my PC :P. 2.5 GB it's enough to handle everything(not for server for sure). And the iPhone app store have awesome apps but Maemo is based on Linux so the ideea of Linux is all for free or open source so the awesome thing in Maemo is that all the apps are for free like in Linux.

  • @aliancemd and thats the problem!

we dont want free apps !

the itouch (the same os as the iphone) is best handheld , and the iphone

can run itouch games (unreal engine 3,street fighter 4, rage...) thats why the iphone is better

but i still like the n900 and im going to buy the n9

even if it dosen't have good games lol :D

  • @zawette And actually most of us DO want free apps. apposed to the useless apps for the iphone that cost. And no nothing that comes from apple is the best at anything. You are over hyping that garbage. It doesn't actually run any of those. they are ran through the net and just displayed on the phone. Any phone capable of surfing the net can do that.

  • @aliancemd Ops sorry I wrote Wifi, I mean HSDPA: iPhone has slower HSDPA and ABSOLUTELY NO HSUPA. By the way, iPhone browser has no Flash... No need to comment there. Just one last thing: no FM Radio and NO radio transmitter on the iPhone. Not informed about infrared, but I assume iPhone lacks of it.

  • @aliancemd I've forgotten the screen resolution (800x480 VS 480x320) and sensitivity (resistive is less funny and has no multitouch but FAR MORE sensible than capacitive). Little question for an iPhone: ehi you, have you ever heard about a thing called MULTI TASKING? I guess NOT. Maybe I'll let my N900 explain to you.

  • Yes, N900 have to process 384k pixels but iPhone just 153,6k that changes the things a lot and iPhone's noncapability to multitask(he actually can multitask, music+program running is multitasking) makes it faster than a multitask device. And no, Capacitive is A LOT more sensible than resistive.

  • @aliancemd You are making mistake. iPhone's GPU (PowerVR SGX535) is more powerful than N900's. It makes 28polygons/sec. What about N900's PowerVR SGX 530?

  • @proskaaa Wow, there is a lot of nescience here. Well, actually iPhone's GPU COULD do 28 Mpolys/s, but it's clocked by default to 7 Mpolys/s. Why? Because iPhone doesn't have a battery that could support such a powerful GPU... What about N900? It has a 14 Mpolys/s GPU, clocked to 14 Mpolys/s, which means that actually an N900 has double power respect to an iPhone 3GS.

Last thing: iPhone's "multitasking" is not real multitasking, even with ProSwitcher.

  • @torpedo4890 Why do you think it's overclocked?Just look at iPhone games. Quake 3 for example is much faster and looks better(~40FPS vs ~20FPS). Why Proswitcher isn't real multitasking?! There are ~5 apps(WebBrowser, ICQ, Vocabulary, iPod, BookReader, Proswitcher etc.) that are constantly opened on my iPhone and it isn't limit.

  • @gamingpro12 Ahahah, this demonstrates that you cannot even imagine what real multitasking is. You think that just leave an app in background is multitasking? With my N900 I can listen to music, track my GPS position, share images on Facebook, read music lyrics, be avaiable on Skype, be connected to Internet, be connected to bluetoth stereo headset. All together and in just one desktop (using widgets). THIS is multitasking, background is for iPhones.

  • Lol. I couldn't care less if you can do it all at once in one desktop (hmm?) on the tiny screen. Infact I can do everything you can as well.. and when the apps are backgrounded, they are still running (tracking GPS position with the navigon app, bt headset connected, ipod running, facebook, msn and skype alerts, etc). Be connected to the internet? I can download with safari download manager, minimize, do something else, come back and its finished. You really have a weak argument going on here.

  • @torpedo4890 Same on iPhone

  • @GamingPro12: yeah yeah.. you install proswitcher or whatever shit it is... it would be still a FAIL :) iphone is yet to include native support for file sending via BT, flash, etc. which is ancient technology for the most of the phones out there. LOL! nokia rocks! \m/ =P nothing personal :)

  • @aliancemd I used "sensible" instead of "precise", sorry. Just wanted to focus on the fact that iPhone is precise in an area of 1 cm^2, while an N900 far less (I think less than 1 mm^2). And, again, iPhone has not multitasking at all, because it would drain its battery a lot.

PS: I've 3 GB of DDR III running at 1333MHz actually, but my system uses Virtual Memory and works better. Virtual memory is needed for multitasking...

  • By the way, you said you had 3GB of RAM in your comp... LOL... I can tell you now that, that is not enough and it's no wonder why you need virtual memory. My windows already hogs up 1.5 GB (Windows 7) of ram, then when I load up an intensive game, thats another 1.5 - 2 GB of RAM gone. You computer doesn't have enough RAM, thats why it needs virtual memory on your harddrive to survive. Virtual memory does not make things better, it's there incase you run out of physical memory.

  • These are targeted @torpedo4890

  • @torpedo4890 My iPhone has multitasking. it's made by ProSwitcher(search on youtube).

  • @torpedo4890 1GB RAM will not make this game faster because it eats just ~70-100Mb on max graphic settings) And it's faster on iPhone because it's GPU makes 28mpolygons/sec (that is main GPU characteristic) vs N900's 14 mpolygons/sec

  • Of course - pretty much the same hardware, but only 154 kPixelsi the 3GS vs. 384 kPixel on the N900. So the N900 pushed 2.5x more pixels than the 3GS.

    That's like comparing VGA (640x480) to XGA (1024x768) :-)

  • @twaelti owned

  • @twaelti *Reply to 5 month old comment*

Its more like saying you run a game better because you run at 60fps on low while i get 30fps on max settings

    (On any game)

  • @proskaaa pretty sure you just got owned.

  • @proskaaa owned lol

  • @proskaaa ur comment make no sense. u cant compare 2 different screen resolutions.

  • @proskaaa Yeah Proskaaa. So shut the fuck up, in other words lol.

  • Where are shadows in the game?

  • za niedlugo w counter strike pogramy na telefonach heh

  • The HD2 only has 256 MB of usable RAM. The problem with the HD2 is that HTC have a habit of not giving out proper GPU drivers. And while the HD2 has a 1 GHz snapdragon, it doesn't use the ARM A8 architecture. ARM A8 is almost twice as fast as ARM7 clock for clock.

  • it actually has 448 mb RAM

  • In total yes. However, only 256 is available to any single application. This is because the rest is dedicated to background processes such as Sense UI.

  • Has better processor but n900 has 1gb of ram hd2 448

  • Dude, the HD2 has 448 RAM + 512 ROM which is close to 256 RAM + 768 ROM of the N900. But the HD2 has a 1Ghz Processor and it also has dedicated graphics. So it should definitely run on the HTC HD2

  • @Shark1995 rom isn ram rom is for files folders music ect ram is memory used for open applications

  • Alright, but still the HD2 has more RAM than the N900, but the N900 has 256 mb RAM and 768 Flash memory. And still, the HD has better processor

  • @Shark1995 aint flash its called virtual ram like ram but from hard drive overall hd2 has more actual ram 448 vs 256 but + 768 virtual used when its out of actual ram.

  • Well, the actual game doesn't require more than 256 on the PC. And the 1ghz processor should help a lot.

  • How does it havr more ram n900 has 1gb 256+753 of virtual ram also n900 has dedicated gpu

  • Is there a way to port this on the HTC HD2? SInce it has more RAM and better processor than the N900, I think it won't be a problem

  • the n900 is the best smart phone on earth!!!

  • were can i get this awesome game and how many does it cost??

  • how to launch it?

  • good tech demo but i think its too hard to play,

even without a tv, cause of the accelerometer controls the n900 seems more to be a controller (Wii, or a gamepad)

    does it support online multiplayer?

  • im gettin sore eyes watchin all this flickering, get a new cam dude! lol

still a nice video, wud be cool if u cud play counter strike on it lol

  • I think after 5 years we can play counter strike and other games for pc on mobile

  • @rawux1228

erm, it would be possible to play counter strike on n900 if someone ported it on n900.

  • best game ever

  • is it possible to assign a "classic" control scheme?

like you aim by sliding the stylus on the screen, as you do on those nintendo ds-shooters and control movement with the keyboard?

  • This Kicked iPhones Ass! At Least i Agree! And im a 4 Year iPhone User! iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS

  • how can you be a 4 year iphone user when the iphone(2g) was released something like 2 years ago;3G a year ago;3Gs about 5 months ago?

  • It must be 4 year old user :D

  • tutorial on how to put this game please?

  • an awsome phone with an awsome price :)

  • can i run in the game not by moving the entire phone because i'd like to press the keyboard buttons? cuz ist so freaking unusual to me)

  • nice job! haha

  • Holly Crap i want this "PC" ))

  • Oh snap,epic pwnage!

  • people just said "5800 will be iphone killer!" and ...meh people just forgot it. but i think this might be it if there are apps for "young people" but nokia has bit business reputation so "hip" people won't be first thinking this phone

  • Comment removed

  • Fett!!

    °|~Jo

  • where did you download it ?

  • Thing 1month from now. You'll even be able to connect keyboards and mouse to this phone :D WIN!

  • how? bluetooth? or you mean wire it together?

  • Bluetooth :)

  • I downloaded it and watched!Maan that's awesome!Nokia rulez the MOBILE WORLD

Iphone leaves much to be desired;)

  • why is video not working?

  • AWESOME!!!:)

  • and STILL faggot ass iphone fan will say "so!...its doesnt have multitouch!!!" lmfao fuck multitouch, who cares about pinching your pictures to zoom it...gay!

    **haters flame here**

  • res. screen is not outdated. just because its old u call it outdated? its only different and better for some people. can't use a stylus or gloves with a cap. screen. multitouch is overrated. say to each his own. ANDROID sucks in my opinion, it can't even display animated gif files, thats terrible. my old nokia (2001 model) can play those files. but like i said, to each his own. just wish iphone fanboys can open their eyes and pull away from the brain was. there are TONS of phones better...

  • yeah my bad about that screen thingy...i looked it up and youre right..i just figured that since its not being used much in new phones it would sucks :] about that animated gifs, well i think for example android 2.0 navigation sw makes up for that pretty well ;] but maemo is really nice aswell..id love to have 'real' linux in my pocket ;] and about iphone fans...i totally agree ;]

  • good to see mature ppl on youtube. mostly everyone on the internet are immature as hell. the android phone (g1) was OKAY. the battery was horrible. which is what worries me about THIS phone (n900). they say that its processor doesnt take alot of batt. power but still, its a huge screen. why couldn't they just use the same batt as n97? 1500mAh. but i guess they might be right on the money with the batt lfe, if not i'll just get one of those batt boosters from walgreens or w.e

  • Capacitive would make some apps impossible to use. You need to remember that many apps meant for N810/N800 are meant to be used with stulys and there will be apps ported from linux that need that pinpoint accuracy that fingers can't give.

That said i want capacitive too and multitouch/capacitive will be reality with Maemo 6 like already announced by Nokia. Will see if capacitive comes before that. Would prefer capacitive, but still definitely going for N900.

  • well i usually try to avoid stylus like rape by fatguy :( but than again it doenst seem like stylus is required for most of the apps on n900...what concerns me more is that a lot of apps avalible for wide spread and hyped out platforms wont be probably avalible for maemo...at least for some time

  • Remember, an app not being present on Maemo does not mean there is no OTHER app doing the same thing.

  • My N95 8Gb displays no flicker on TV out; again, its due to the TV being a CRT model. If it was TFT or Plasma, there would be no flicker.

  • I remember when I first got this game, my pc would only just run it. Now it plays on a fucking mobile phone!!

  • Give this to an obese person and make them strafejump, they will lose weight rapidly.

  • Maemo 5 is based on Linux.

  • linux rulz

  • i think its possible to play with a mouse because the n900 can usb-host!

    They should just program it...

  • playing on touchscreen SUCKS !, get a keyboard and a mouse, lol :D

  • Congratulations, you missed the point.

  • mate could you check out whether quakelive runs on this? it should since it has firefox inside

  • I know the screen doesnt have multitouch, but do the buttons support it touching in the same time?

  • the screen is only flickering because its a camera recording a monitor! Its not flickering in real life :D

  • The screeen of the N900 is perfect. Please read the comment to that Video: the screen flickering is my old TV! (not beeing in sync with my digital camera videomode...)

  • For one, there is no "being in sync" to be done with a digital camera and a cathode ray TV. If you carefully read my response you'd noticed I mentioned HDMI which meant an output for a digital TV. I'm aware of the reason for the flickr - it doesn't mean the reason makes it more pleasant. Glad you showed this off, and I'm not sure a few jumps where from the device or the TV. Non formated MicroSD cards having video on previous Nseries display the same issue on video playback on TV-out.

  • the flickrering is because of the "camera to tv" i bet this looks great looking straight to it

  • I'm curious what you mean by "camera to TV" vs straight to it? Camera is recording what is displayed on the TV. N900 is a smartphone connected to the TV duplicating its display on it. Why would the camera need to be directly connected to the TV? I may be misunderstanding what you meant ??

  • what i mean is that if you record with any camera from the tv you get flickering

  • Hey guys, we are making a community for "Maemo Nokia N900". And the best place to be a part of it is at "maemo-nokian900(.)com" .... Do sign up.. and lets make this thing big

    Great Video... Good insight...

  • hey could i install quake 1 on this phone

  • ROCKET JUMP!!!!!

  • You know what would be even more awesome? N900 running deus ex over wine. Think it's possible?

  • Sadly I think that may be pushing the envelope a little too much lol

Course, if it was an open source game then perhaps...there are loadsa games from around that era that could run...Wolfenstein, Halflife 1 (uses modified Quake engine), etc. etc.

Its just they ain't open source :( so are illegal to recompile.

  • Dude, google this: OpenArena. The quake engine is opensource.

  • nope, never. Wine is x86 only, because Windows is x86 only!

  • You can use the hardware keyboard, or soon a HID driver to use a Bluetooth Mouse too.

    Better than the iPhone on 2 counts;

    1) This is running at native 800x480, not 480x320

    2) IIRC you need a jailbroken iPhone for this, right? Nokia aren't going to stop your phone working for running this. Like Apple do.

Don't get me wrong, the 3GS is a GREAT bit of hardware (similar to N900), nice UI etc but you can't access the filesystem, install what you want etc. Plus Linux appeals to me.

  • maaaan, i need one of these!

I got n95 8g, and quake III runs veeery nice!

Just watin the realease to buy one.
