Shannon has an Olympic medal on bars and Tweddle does not. At the 92 games Miller won a bronze on bars. At the 2008 games Tweddle was not good enough to win a medal and only took 4th place. Nuff said.
but Beth has more world medals with her gold medal than Shannon ever had, so that counts for something...you're an over obsessed miller fan, go get your nose and face butchered like Shannon so you can look like a younger version of Joan Rivers and scare yourself to death when you look in the mirror, asshole!
Shannon and Beth both have 3 combined World and Olympic medals on bars but both have 1 World gold and 1 of Shannon's 3 combined World and Olympic medals is an Olympic one whereas Beth did not ever get that. Thus Shannon > Beth on bars.
I agree with NewMinako, you're talking about two different codes of points and difficulty. The fact that you are an overobsessed Shannon fan just makes you look like the idiot you are...
Difficulty always advances but you judge gymnasts by how they do in their own times. More difficulty doesnt mean the field is any tougher today, unless you are saying that the future fields will always be tougher than the present. The early to mid 90s gymnasts would be doing more difficulty if they were born 15 years later too.
The fact is vs atleast as tough a field on bars Miller had better medal haul overall in Worlds and Olympics than Beth as I explained. Thus she is better on bars.
Complete crap but you're entitled to your opinion. If you weren't an overobsessed Miller fan it might have some merit, but in your case it doesn't....
Well ok to bring some merit to this conversation. I AM not a particular Miller fan on Bars. She was never too inventive if you as me (I like Chow better tbh). I also think that Beth should have medelled and that ALOT of gymnasts in the shadow of the bigs like Nastia and Fei gt the short end of the stick. HOWEVER to compare a gymnast today with a gymnast of yesterday always runs into trouble. With that being said I think that Shannon as an AA gymnast is more precise and overall better than Beth.
I am only bringing in a more objective poster here to bring up the point that you don't have to be a Miller fan to know that overall Shannon pretty much trumps her.
Thanks for inviting outside conversation....I will remember not to interrupt sheesh :P
Anyone who knows gymnastic knows Shannon was a better AA gymnast than Beth, that's common knowledge, I wasn't uninviting you, I'm just saying it's a mute point because it's already known. WTFever...
Perhaps then if moot points are being made and the shannon freak is gone that you shoud leave the comments section too. Who cared in thefirst place......only wanted to continue the "obvious train" you guys were riding on. don't have to jump on the ONLY person NOT making an argument here....
Yang Yilin , they are all better than Shannon Miller on bars....Someone that is that obsessed with Miller is beyond rational disscusion.... Nastia Luikin is far better that Miller ever was as an all round gymnast too and Shawn Johnson has more character and flare.... Semenova didn't medal either but she is still a fab bar worker..
It sounds quite loud on the video, but the other girls on the British team and supporters from the clubs really get behind Beth and the girls its lovely to see it and be a part of it when you see it. I think it just sounds louder pitched with my not so great video recording lol x
I'm sorry but whenever I'm having a sly one off the wrist watching womens' gymnastics and the Tweddle comes on, I go soft almost immediately. Come on Beth, spend some money getting those gnashers sorted out.
she was world champion... thats what i call winning a decent competition .. and european champion .. world cup champion! .. basically she has won everything except olympics!
Tweedle was overlooked during Beijing even though her UB work has a high difficulty rating and I prefer it to some of the other gymnasts who medalled. It's a shame that she never got any media attention. Especially over here in the USA where NBC ignored her. She won World Champ in 06 and Euro and many other competitions. I hope she sticks around a little longer. As for the "she is too old", Khorkina was 24 and still performing at the Olympics (3 times).
The full-twisting Tkatchev is named after Mohini Bhardwaj, the Tkatchev with half turn is called an "Ejhova" and the Ricna-half turn-Ezhova is called the Tweddle. I don't know exactly which skill is named after Beth but I've heard that this was an original combination.
well beth has added a full turn in to increase her a score still more, the pak is still a likely addition which she not included as yet, oooooo Beths competitors are going to have to watch out
Beths A score here was 7.4 and I think we will see it increase. She isnt competing against Romania this weekend, but maybe we will see her against Italy next week, then championships the week after!! her execution is 2nd to none.
What are your thoughts on Nastias exercise. I thought her on bar work was superb but she is going to get absolutely hammered for that dismount in Beijing if its not performed any better
yeah, Nastia always seems to run out of gas when it comes to her dismount. I'd almost like to see her do an easier dismount, take the lower A score, and stick it to avoid landing so low.
I think we all know that if Beth would have hit her new combination at Europeans she would have won the mistake she made was costly and took her out of the medals!
you know i think that Beth may just be able to hit a good, clean routine at Beijing. I really hope she just get into teh finals though. One small error and i think she's out of it! I want her to make teh floor finals aswell...which i think she can if she hits! (: GOOD LUCK BETH !!
I think you are going to be so surprised with Beth she would have retained her 2006 world title if not for an extra swing before her pak likewise at europeans she would have won.
The audience at Euros loved her routine (its going to be an audience pleaser) Beth is continuing to add difficulty to her exercise her routine att the moment doesnt contain the Pak and she is working on adding back her ono if she competed this before the Markelov her difficulty rating would soar upwards.
Ususally her B score is only 2 tenths ahead at the MOST. Her A score is 3 thents behind so I still dont see her medalling. Not with 3 7.7's and a 7.8.
You are ignoring the fact that sense Nastia upgraded her set her form and mistakes have gotten worse. Beth's have not. Nastia's deductions will be huge if she completes this routine as badly as she did at scam cup.
Nastia may be loosing a little more in B score but if she can compete an 8.0 A score in Beijing there is no way Beth could make up the defeceit, she would have to get around a 9.9 in B score. NO WAY can beth surpass a 8.0, a 7.8 and two 7.7's one would have to fall in order for Beth to medal, but an 8.0 with a fall could still beat Beth. Also we dont know what other surprise upgrades on bars we will see form others.
Her A score on beam was not upto full difficulty for instance she only performed a double twist dismount. On floor Beth finished with a 2.5 straight front rather than her useful full twist and had to count n out of bounds on her opening tumble of 1.5 through to double arabian. I will upload today so you can see :-)
She only did a double twist dismoutn off beam, and I'm not sure if she would have got her acro series...just a little tentative! floor just had big steps and OOBs if I remmeber right, not as crisp as Euros by a long way!
not necessarily, he kexin, the other chinese (can't remember her name), and nastia liukin are all at 7.7 but that's it above her, so who knows, she can still do it...
I think you mean " Yang Yi-Lin", who is the other Chinese girl you mentioned. Besides, she is a AA athlete with high enough A points to grab a medal in OG.
Thats already 3 people with 7.7's not to Mention Semyonova who is working on a routine with 7.9, I also heard Nistor was upgrading, I dont think Beth can finish ahead of the Asians and Russians.
lol, you mean not EASTEERN european, well yes there is a big difference, the nice technique of girls like Nastia, Semyonova and Zgoba is higher than the animal like Movements of Tweddle.
i wouldn't count semenova as "nice" more "loose" technique (not that i don't like her bars), and tweddle just has way more power than the "eastern" europeans. haha. and zgoba is not going to place, i would love for her to, but not a hard enough routine and she hits it maybe once in a blue moon.
oh i don't see that happening at all. she wouldn't be able to hit a 7.6 routine, let alone the one she has now. i wish she could though, her german giants are amazing!
I'm not gonna even bother answering when it comes to Beth, because I really like and respect her for singlehandedly putting GB in the gymnastics map. Instead, I'd like to ask you about Ksenia's and Irina's upgrades: are they just rumours? What are they planning to do? I've seen Ksenia connect her Deltchev to the Pak but I don't know how that affects her A score. I'd love to see an upset in the finals, say Krasnyanska medalling. She's by far my favourite UB worker when she hits.
She won a world championship because Nastia was injured... not to mention she hasnt really won anything since, she didnt even get a bars medal at Euroes.
If she hadn't made that slight mistake between her new connection Beth would have been in the medals and that was the first competition where she competed it
Nistor won't get anywhere near 9.0 for execution, unless she gets seriously overscored like she did last year at Worlds. Liukina has no chance of scoring higher than a 9.0 either, unless she fixes that dismount and I seriously DON'T get a 7.9 routine out of Ksenia (though I'd LOVE her to win bars!) Beth is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
lovvvveee itttt!!!!BUTTTT.....i think she should do a toe on-blind healy into the markelvo-geinger combo(so one and a half twist instead of the blind)..scrap the regular toe on tkachev...and have toe on-full in to toe on tkackev...keep the rest...but do a double double dismount.
I think Beth got heavily deducted on her turns in the past, and with it been so important to get the turns within 10 degrees of handstand its a big risk for her B score if the skill is past handstand. The additional difficulty a turn would bring woould not be worth the risk!
thats kl! thanks for the reply! you mentioned earlier the potential for upgrades - where could she upgrade? and i also agree that she deserves a medal in beijing! i cannot wiat for ub final!
the most obvious upgrade i can see would be to add the pak back in. if i were her coach i'd have her do: jump to high mount (like shawn johnson); tweddle-ezhova; kchs 1/2 turn-toe shoot to high bar; toe blind- khorkina-gienger; ray-pak; maloney-bail hs-stalder shoot to high bar; toe-full-tucked full out dismount...i think that routine would be out of a 7.6
YAY!!! that was a great routine - at last some good upgrades so she can compete with the likes of liukin! :D she used to ahve lots of piruettes(sp?) in her routine - any one know if shes adding them back in to further increase her A score?
16.650!! I think the routine has much more it can offer in terms of potential upgrades. Beth doesnt perform the pak here and she is rumoured to be looking to add the Pak back to her routine. Go Beth she truly deserves every success
HOOOLY HELL FIRES!!!!!!

Liukina has no chance of scoring higher than a 9.0 either, unless she fixes that dismount and I seriously DON'T get a 7.9 routine out of Ksenia (though I'd LOVE her to win bars!) Beth is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Yes she is a forced to be reckoned with liek a cow is a force to be reckoned with in comparison to some gaselles and flamingos.

lovvvveee itttt!!!!BUTTTT.....i think she should do a toe on-blind healy into the markelvo-geinger combo(so one and a half twist instead of the blind)..scrap the regular toe on tkachev...and have toe on-full in to toe on tkackev...keep the rest...but do a double double dismount.

sicko Yezhova combo!

Woooo She deserves a medal in Beijing!!

16.650!! I think the routine has much more it can offer in terms of potential upgrades. Beth doesnt perform the pak here and she is rumoured to be looking to add the Pak back to her routine. Go Beth she truly deserves every success
