I have always been thinking how funny it would have been if Darcy had written the letter like "..and then the motherfucker tried to seduce my baby sister or fucking rape her or shit I mean how fucked up is that I'm so going to call my niggers to beat the hell outta that retarded motherfucker that bitch is so dead I mean SO. DEAD."
I think only the 1995 Colin Firth starring PBS film [which is the best so far even tho it s bit too lengthy] is available full length. Just type "Pride & Prejudice (1995)" and you'll get it
I agree that Wickham was a worm, but wondering why Darcy hated him when he gave him a check. Was it wrong for Wickham to want to follow his own path instead of Darcy's father's plans for him? I guess Darcy was mad b/c he felt W. was leading his father on with going into the church...
probably had something more to do with the issue with Georgiana more than anything. More offended that he paid off a guy who tried to take advantage of his 15 y/o sister.
Bretchops You ask why ? because Wickham was a true weakman , cold, vene, and He liked to live as a gentelman, wich he was not. He pretend to love Giorgiana because She was very naive , very rich and He hated Mr Darcy with passion because He could not have the same life. If you are a Jane austen lover , read the book it will pransport you back to the last centurie.
Isn't the book amazing , and did you feel the intensity , passion and love of Mr Darcy for Elizabeth????????? I did!!!!!!!!!!!. Have a nice weekend , ciao.
i dont like Matthew McFayden as Darcy, he is too cold and he isnt a good actor, i really dont like the 2005 version, it does not follow the story at all.
If you read the book you will see why he appears cold. He doesn't know how to show his feelings and has been brought up not to show them. He feels deeply but doesn't have the ability to share them with strangers.
I dont kow if anyone saw lost in Austin but I actually quite like Wickham in that, I know someone's going t say that's not how he's portrayed in the book but in context he was very likeable
that was the whole point... The book is mostly written from Elizabeth's perspective (focalisation) and she has a 'Prejudice' against Mr Darcy and for Mr Wickham and so we are led to believe that he is a good person until this turning point in the novel.
Since the very first moment that Wickham appered on the scene I sensed somenthing unconfotable, insincere , yes.... he made bealive everyone that He was a good person with integrity ect ...ect....so He was loved by everyone, but if you study His true caracter from the beginning you will realize that he was only un intruder and a very intelligent man like a true con.
i liked Mathhew McFayden as Darcy but he appeared quite blank too at times however, his getup was much better than Colin Firth's this version is much more true to the book than the 2005 one and i like Charles and Wickham better in this one.
and, in my opinion, Firth ruined the part for every other actor that came after. I mean, they can all play Darcy (sort of), but he WAS Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.
I have the dvd set of this wonderful series...awesome ..first time I see a movie that perfectly match with the original history from a book ...congratulations BBC you rules...
Mr Darcy ,you are so kind.

I have just discovered that there are many books written as follow ups to P & P.
I love them. I must have bought 6 already. They are more "racy" than the original version. Try them.

@funkymash so can you tell me how old Elizabeth is?
InsaneJul 9 months ago
Elizabeth responds to Lady Catherines question of her age by saying she is not yet one and twenty.

@InsaneJul She's 20 :)

how old is darcy supposed to be?
ErinSaysHerro 1 year ago 2
He said that Georgiana is more than ten years his senior, but the net says he is 28 years old.
TheUnwrittenWriter 1 year ago
doesn't it say "10 years my junior"?
GaruGreen 1 year ago
@ErinSaysHerro Well, Georgiana is 16 when he writes and he is more than 10 years older... then, he might be something like thirty...
feuille2niggle 1 year ago
@feuille2niggle Na He's 28. Jane Austen included that in the book - which still makes Georgiana over ten years his junior as that's twelve years :)

Oh. I was confused with the timeline. From watching, it looked like Wickham took the money, disappeared and returned to take advantage of Georgiana.

well marrying 15 year olds wasnt that weird back then.. and i LOVE Darcy!!! (when Colin Firth plays him)

in those days people didn't have the life span that we do now. they also thought that the younger females were better for having children.

@mrssyringa I have read the book. :) But with Finnish language. :) You are right. But still Colin Firth is the best Darcy. :) <3

I could not agree with you more. The 1995 version is the most elegant one and perfectly done by Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennett.
