@bergaflickal trust me(or not) there's plenty of good drivers that hit mid 14's bones stock....launching the car is the hard part,the rest is just quick shifting.You also have to look at where these guys are testing the cars at...let them come to Ennis tx which is a fast track and you'll see the real potential.I believe one guy actually hit a 14.3 stock...on crappy all seasons with the grip of a plastic wheel.

Honda Civic si - ??? (not foundl) There were many threads about this on 8thcivic webiste, the Cobalt ss hands down beats the Si in every performance category stock vs stock. The only thing the SI has over the new cobalts is the resale value, and reliability perhaps

@oreopenis yes the cobalt does have a suercharger. at the time the civic si was also 5k more expensive than the cobalt WITH the supercharger...
and the engine is not smaller in the civic its a 2.0 like the cobalt. when it comes to mods
ajp turbo kit for the civic (most reliable) 5.5k = 380-420 whp.
zzp twincharge kit cobalt ss/sc 2.8k = 400-460 whp...
both motors are used in drag cars. they have alot of potential.
the cobalt is cheaper to make fast in the end

you can say the same thing about the 335i vs the g37, its only faster because of its twin turbos, but $ for $ it will still make more power, unless you want to put down some serious cash, but any car can be made fast with enough $. same goes with the ss/sc, all it needs is 1500-2000$ for 290-300 whp and 300+ wtq. the si has a great engine, but because of the high compression ratio it can't handle high boost, the cobalt's engine can

lol that doesn't change the shitty engineering of the cobalt ss/sc....it handles like a piece of shit....has a shitty ass 2.4L I4 which even with a supercharger barely makes 210 horses.....whereas the N/A K20 develops 197 hp and owns face...not to mention the Si outhandles the cobalt in any kind of track situation. The OPTIONAL LSD in the cobalt is the biggest fucking joke ever. It kicks in like halfway through a turn after the POS car already failed and understeered like a fuck.

cobalt has a 2.0 not 2.4, and dynos around 215hp and 200tq to the wheels stock where as the si dynos around 175 hp and 140trq stock

lol not to mention that whatever little performance the SS can dish out...it does with its supercharger...and the new one now with a turbo...the Si does very well with its 100 hp/L N/A K20....and even without forced induction, with just I/H/E and KPro, the Si owns the SS and at the base of it all..if you compare the N/A engines of the Si vs. the cobalt....that it absolutely no competition whatsoever.

I read a review a while back between a 2006 cobalt ss/sc and a civic si, here are what the reviewers had to say, stock for stock, they placed the Si 3rd the SS/SC 2nd
Dearth of power unless you flog it. Lots of racket, not much forward thrust. Tight little shifter. -Si
Engine has good power; builds strong and steady through the revs. Slick five-speed with short throws. SS

Any dumbass out there knows the cobalt has a 2.0 supercharged not a 2.4 litre i4, that would be the base model SS that employs a 2.4 litre.
Also most of the top notch ring times like the GTRs/ Viper ACRs are all manufacturer time. GM claim they achieve 8:22 with the new 08+ cobalt ss, tell me when honda gets to it w/ a si

My friend has an 09 Civic si and it grinds 3rd gear with just 14k on it. Thats just fail quality right there.
another user on 8thcivic also noted this which is quite common
"i have a 09 and it sometimes grinds going into 2nd, and sometimes in won't go into 6th... but no problem with popping out, but it seems notchy going into gears sometimes"
so dont tell me your Si's are perfect

to bring the cobalt upto the performance of a Si in all aspects will cost alot more money than it's base msrp which might be slightly lower than the Si, but the Si's value is so beyond that of the cobalt it's not even funny.

You're a fool, the civic and cobalt ss are in the same class and both cost about the same, therefore they are comparable. Just because a car is boosted means NOTHING. Especially if its a factory tune. How about turbo diesels, because they have a TURBO does that mean they are fast. you obviously have very limited knowledge of cars. fanboy.
