RD is such a wonderful person. But I do wonder what Richard 'could' be ignorant about? Not that I am putting him down.

@Houdinitreehouse Richard Dawkins often speaks with physicists in public. (Brian Greene, Lawrence Krause, etc.) And is always quick to say that he doesn't understand physics beyond a certain point. (As do certain physicists.) I'm not a physicist, but pay a lot of attention to modern physics. And I always wonder if I'd be impressed or disappointed if I ever got to talk to him about physics. I suspect I'd be pretty impressed, and that he knows more than he lets on.

@sbergman27 Where I have heard Richard speak about physics he does seem 'attuned' - so to speak - to what's happening.

But to carry your point further about how 'he knows more than he lets on'. I have always thought that he knows a great deal about the many various disciplines because he seems to want to understand a lot about the world we live in. You can see him wanting to understand phenomenon.

@sbergman27 And that's sort of why I posed the 'ignorant' question, because I respect his understanding.

But still I have yet to pick fault with him...only because I am curious to know where he might be weak. And also partly because I can see his 'new atheist' followers just repeating what he says (and I can see them not properly critiquing his rhetoric) - while simultaneously lacking to understand the breadth and depth of Dawkins' understanding of the world.

@sbergman27 But to answer your reply.I don't think he is too learned about the discipline physics.I think(?) I heard him make some statement which seemed honest, + that's where I got that impression from. I'm probably wrong though. He probably has memorised some important physics concepts, +because he has access to top intellectuals, I'd say that yes, he would probably impress you if just from his genuine enthusiasm. You'd probably end up having an informed discussion, but one not too in depth.
