@wishmolly Nevermind, I was trying to point out that our political spectrum is screwed up, vague, and misplaced and could be significantly simplified. And besides, why shouldn't people believe in fairytales (not that I am establishing that I do)? Under Socialism theoretically people are free, so shouldn't they have the freedom to dream?

The farther you head towards 0% the more restricted and the lesser the powerful of the government. That is what I believe, not the current system. Now we understand eachother, and that is that. @wishmolly Now, as to my views on the political spectrum, I do not accept it as it is today simply because its complex, vague, confusing, and sees things in terms more of morality and certain political aspects rather then the power grasp of the government as a whole. I see it as an inclined plane with governments holding 100% power on the left and no government (anarchy with 0%) on the right. Nazism, Communism, and any other totalitarian regime falls on the left, less powerful governments on the

@wishmolly So, this gives you two options of economic and political rule: A government that serves basic functions such as justice and the protection of citizen's rights (in other words functions necessary but not deemed profitable and explorable by the private sector) in which it governs best by governing least. Or you can place ALL power in the hands of the few, in the hands of men and women as imperfect and corruptible as yourself. Which one degrades man less? The minor or the total?

@wishmolly By doing so there now exists greater temptation to use that power (and since naturally humanity like many animals in nature contains some element of self interest or greed) which inevitably someone will take advantage of (like Stalin, Hitler, Mohamed Farrah Aidid, Castro, and so on). Now imagine that but on a complete national scale, you can culture and teach good will to man all you like, but imperfection and faults will always remain.

@wishmolly This creates a vicious cycle that with each rotation increases and elevates the reliance of citizens to the government. Now, by making them more reliant upon the government and less upon themselves you successfully condition them to be specialized and integrated into the State and without State support they now lack the motivation and the individual strength to survive (much like dog domestication), this makes those in authority immensely powerful.

@wishmolly Socialism has proven to fail time and time again, it simply leads to the justification and the rationalization of more socialistic measures until eventually you come to a point of complete collectivism. The Modern USA for example, by establishing welfare some are helped at the expense of others, higher taxes are needed to provide that welfare, by doing so that takes more money from your average citizen, causing them to be more reliant on the government and less self sustaining
