nothing to do with pinafarina at all! its all in the name 'bertone' x1/9 i have owned 7 of these including 3 uno turbo conversions, right now i own a 1986 balck 1500 with subtle mods
these cars were actually built by ferrari at maranello and came off the same line as the 308 models, everything is the same and desgined by pinin for a fact too, every nut and bolt is real and makes this fiat ferrari special, due to it's light weight and being a v8 makes it much faster than its v12 counterpart, apparently there is a new model on the cards where ferrari will use the new rotax engine to cut doen engine space and pop out a whopping 300bhp+ at the wheels, i think its next year
we make 1600 cc engine for x 1/9.from 80 to 170 cv,carburettor or jenvey injection.2007-2008- italian cross championship winners.avalaible also for hillclimb races.
when my mother was pregnant with me, my father drove her to the hospital in his bertone x-1 when she went into labor. it's kinda funny b/c it was his way of telling her he wasn't going to sell the car even though I was coming along.
X1/9 was perfect right out of the box. Perfectly proportioned, balanced, all the lines work together. Adding to this car is tricky. But this car inspired a lot of creative thought.
Liked the video. I used to have a 1978 X-1/9 with a 1290cc engine and the crescent shaped wheel flares and rear spoiler from Bayless Racing.
I always remmer getting in because it felt like you put the car on. I also remember it sat so low to the ground that at 40mph it felt like 80 and at 100mph felt like it was supersonic.
The black one at 2.00 is bad ass. I owned 3 X1/9's at the same time. The 79 I drove as a daily car, the 78 I had as a parts car, and the 76 I had was to restore, but never did. I would own another if they werent so hard to get parts for.
One of Bertone's quiet masterpieces -- while I like a lot of the ideas, some of these are downright HIDEOUS. The absolute worst of the bunch is at 1:58. These people need to have their artistic license revoked.
I like the Orange with Red.

I like the red one at 1:45 the best.
When it comes to auto design no one in the world even comes close to the Italians and when they do it is because they have copied an Italian design.

Man, these fotos show how to mess up a beautiful classic... It`s an italien gentleman not a redneck car!

I agree. The best X1/9s were the original 1300s with their small bumpers.

I fell in love with the x1/9 at first sight, 30 years ago. This far, still my best sports car design. Ever.
