can you be too old to learn how to be competent on a piano?

i am 19 now and everywhere i read claims that you have to start at a very young age as your brain retains more memory of how to play.

As long as you have the need to play the piano and commitment to try, you will be able to play the piano. This can be said for any skills, hobbies, and talents. you just need the time and the effort, and you will learn.
