  • 0:41 Looks like Rose and Mickey...

  • Matt smith is so cute!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't care what any body else says, matt smith was a great doctor!

  • @thespacebat 'is' a great doctor some might say =)

  • Imagine how cramped it would be. Every scene where they leave and enter the TARDIS, and multiple takes.

  • That's sicckk. I loved this episode.

  • @XxFireDriverrxX That's completely untrue, get your facts straight please.

  • @deann21345 There's international copyright protecting Doctor Who (or any other BBC programme) allowing the BBC to remove it at will if they find it here.

  • Brilliant episode and been a fantastic series, pity bbc keep fucking round with the time schedules.

  • this is last week episode

  • I wonder if the writers have studied the so-far established time-lines of past Doctor Who episodes so if they do decided to change something they can at least have the common decency to acknowledge the change in the time-line. I'm talking about the possible time-line change of the Daleks invasion of Earth in 2165. That was episode that the Doctor locked Susan out of the Tardis so she could be with the man she loved. Will the Daleks still invade or are they going to change past shows?

  • I love matt smith hes the best dr yet

  • Rory!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rory died :( and Amy can't remember him :'(

  • Wait....

    Wheres Rory?

  • @EmtyThe1st dead

  • yay rory isn't there :P

  • did u get chauit taping this?

  • I'm not convinced with sum1 like Richard "Posh Boy" Curtis penning an episode.

  • This seems to imply that The Doctor and Amy bring Van Gogh to modern times?

  • OMG it is the DOCTOR AND THE TARDIS!

  • Its good already getting used to smith on board but he gets it and Amy Pond too ax

  • I'm going to have to move to Cardiff aren't I?

  • I bet anything, the Doctor brings Van Gogh forward in time to see his artwork in a museum. :)

  • No...the TARDIS didn't get damaged because the tenth doctor held in his regeneration too long, but because when he regenerated, his body released all that lethal nuclear radiation that was killing him. So, you had the effect of an atom bomb in the TARDIS.

  • With respect to the TARDIS' appearance, it *originally* had a similar look to this one, so this isn't anything they added, it's actually the "classic" look which they have brought back from the way it looked in the show up thru the very late 60s!

I have read that a "wood texture" is supposedly inaccurate, by the way: police boxes of this model were apparently made of concrete, so the TARDIS' chameleon circuit would have replicated that, and there is no call to expect a wood grain.

  • Matt looks really pissed off!!!

  • Ow! this is gonna take place in Holland then because Vincent Van Gogh was a really famous painter there, probably in the past... Not the future.

  • @Vakamatje Van gogh lived in france for a few decades, they are going to france..

It would've been fun to see the netherlands in doctor who. But it seems that is not interesting enough so they're going to france :P.

  • @noompie95 Damn you BBC! I wan't a advanture in holland!!

  • the tardis changed because the 10th doctor held in his regeneration to long it caused damage to the tardis

  • wtf happened to the tardis. i dont care if their changed the insides but the outside of it to... that sucks... i perfer the old tardis outsides

  • Im confused, how is this a spoiler?

  • Is that like a logo or something on the door?

My wee brother (9) thought it was a spyhole lol

  • i liked the outside of the old tardis better but the inside of the new one is much better

  • o right never mind lol.just read that it exploded! aw! :(

  • do they think no ones gonna notice the TARDIS is COMPLETELY different? I loved the old one! :(

  • Chameleon circuit.

  • Aww I like the old TARDIS. The vintage feel was nice but this one is too perfect. Getting blown up isn't a good excuse anyway, because the only reason it looks like it does is because of the faulty chameleon circuit, not because it's actually old. He could have made it look different anythime he wanted just by fixing it, but it was cool the way it was.

  • Well, they've actually put the St. John's Hospital sign back from the old series, and they've simply changed the 'desktop theme' as mention in Time Crash. So everything is plausible.

  • No, but it's lost it's old grainy wood texture and it's got that silly looking window shading for some of them.

  • is that the new tardis becuase if it is i dont under stand how can it change

  • the tardis exploded when the doctor regenerated so he changed the model, lol good excuse for a new tardis

  • it got destroyed when tennant regenerated.

  • The tardis was remade. got blown up in the regeneration. there's a trailer where you can see inside for just a sec or 2 seemed like they took some ideas from the Fifth Doctor's period.

  • she's well pretty

  • is that meant to be Van Gogh. if so coool

  • Swagger.

  • Looking forward to the new series, with Stephen Moffat at the helm I can't imagine they'll duff it up - only improve on the current format. Have to say though, I preferred the worn and weather-beaten Tardis to this weird cartoony new version.

  • same

  • my mom made the mistake of only giving david half a season before saying that dr. who has gone to the dogs, i had her watch "Doomsday" and she wished she hadn't stopped. I'm gonna give matt some time to get comfortable in his role before i decide that the series ain't worth it anymore. and who cares if they added a circle thing to the front of the tardis?! Wow! People can be so picky!

  • @Dynamicfaithfullove The Tardis used to always have the St John Ambulence sticker on it. But sadly around Troughton's time it had gone. Nice to see it back :)

  • @Dynamicfaithfullove thats true even though they attached that st johns ambulance sticker on the front there are no means to get picky after all its a new writer tardis and doctor so why not change it by the way im really looking forward to flesh and stone part 2 of the time of angels episodes 4 and 5

  • @Dynamicfaithfullove The circle thingy is a 'St John's Ambulance ' badge, which was on the original police boxes in England in the 50's/60's, so it's actually a better 'disguise' than in the original series - as long as he arrives in 1965 England of course!

  • @Dynamicfaithfullove I wish I'd only given David 1 season, the 1st & 2nd seasons (season 28/29) were fantastic but the show went downhill in season 3 especially with the awful finale, the show has failed to get anywhere near the heights of the first two seasons since and finales for 3,4, the specials and 5 were all awful they hit the reset button 3 times (3,4,5) in 4 years that's just lazy.

  • Is there a chunk missing out of the tardis? Look just as Matt walks out the door (on either shot) just to the right about waist level.

"A hole? How did a hole get in my tardis?"

  • @jruddock

... I don't see a hole. That's just part of the Carnivale posters that are on the TARDIS (you can see bits of poster on the side as well, burning)

  • Matt smith is an odd boy sometimes he looks very handsome and then other times he looks like hes been hatched from a pod

  • ooh the doctor has a hat, like all the odd doctors exept the 1st and 9th

  • the fuck happened to the tardis?

  • @Sunno94 I know right, wtf is with thecircle thing on it? very gay...

  • i know it looks like its made of cardboard or construction paper

  • I dont know man.... he looks like a dork. I will give him a chance becouse i said the same thing after David smiled after Saying "Barcilona."

  • The Doctor's supposed to look like a 'dork' though. Look at all the past doctors, none of them were terribly handsome or fashionable. Even David Tennant was all gangly and thin and kind of geeky.

  • Oh, come on, people. The exterior of the TARDIS doesn't look THAT different. Now, if they'd painted it red and put a Bell South sign on it, I could see freaking out, but...it doesn't look that different. Calm down.

  • *looks closely* Oh. Oh, now I see what they changed. They added a St. John's Ambulance emblem to the door.

    ...

Wooo. What a drastic change. I still don't get why fans are whining about it.

  • Is that a Blue Peter TARDIS? (here's one I made earlier lol) And how com is says on the TARDIS pull to open and they PUSH the door lol

  • i think it says that so that random people or kids try to get in and if it says pull door they will try to pull it donst work there think its lock and leave it

  • @Scottishgal78 omg i never noticed that.

  • Is that a Blue Peter TARDIS - (here's one I made earlier lol)

  • WTF is he wearing and WTF have they done to the tardis this sucks change it back !!!!!

  • They kinda had to make a new T.A.R.D.I.S. Number 10 kinda fucked it up, remember?

  • @AnonymousBro Doctor's 1thru 4 had to make do with the same console room set. At least I think they did. If I'm wrong then by all means tell me. The first time I can recall a change in the console room was with the 4th Doctor. The way they explained it then was that there were multiple console rooms. I'm guessing now, they just have the old console room change into a new room.

  • @sallyjosie

It was changed halfway through 2's time.

Then there was practically a new one every week when 3 was on :D

4 used 3's for a bit, then used a wooden one, then got the old one back, and then got it redesigned a few times.

    :D

  • isn't she cold o_O

  • WTF?? is that a new TARDIS?

  • he acts lik an old doctor and wow the tardis outside sucks

  • I just caught myself thinking that when they go into the TARDIS it must look the way it does on the show. Then I remembered with disappointment that it really doesn't; it's just a set and probably all card-boardy inside. Oh well. I'm too into this--after End of Time I didn't want to wait til April for more so I started watching the classic series.

  • I've been doing the exact same thing!

  • nothing better than this modern dr who online at justdoctorwho^dot^com

  • Sure, I'm going to watch Season Five - I've been watching Doctor Who since 1974 - but I'm not sure about this new Doctor. It looks like his catch phrase is going to be "Geronimo," and to have the Doctor yell "Geronimo" all the time seems just plain dumb (of course, it would be funny if, after he yells it, he meets the actual Geronimo).

  • haha I thought about that too. geronimo... must be funny for the first few times, but after that? hm... Alons-y was kind of classic ... I really will miss that...

  • Yeah i miss Alons-y as well but I've got the boxsets so i can watch over and over lol - missin DT already :(

  • yeah me too.... *sniffs* have to order the boxset, though^^ I've got the whole DW Specials Box (I'll just skip to the Alons-y parts till I get the whole boxset for my birthday... for christmas... my wedding.... *sighs*)

  • I think Matt Smith seems very Doctorish- it's always hard to get used to a new Doctor at first. Although casting the wrong guy can kill the show...

  • Most of the actors that the BEEB cast are fine superb Chaps. Collin Baker was a great persona but his Doctor was so whacked that it killed Colin's credibility. If Colin played himself not some JNT written lunacy. The 6th Doctor could have been in the league of the likes of the 2nd 3rd, 4th,7th,9th and 10th.

  • new doctor < David Tennant or doctor before him

  • I dont care what people think about MS I cant WAIT for series 5, its gonna be so awesome!

  • All the best to the new Dr. My fav will always be David, but that's just cause I fancy the pants off him! & also as far as my girls are concerned - he is the doctor. Good Luck Matt

  • I don't know about this new doctor, sure, we've got to give him a chance, but c'mon, I don't think he'll ever live up to David's standards!

Plus, even with the few lines he said in the last episode, he was trying to act far too much like David!

  • The few lines David said in his first episode he was trying to sound far too much like Eccleston. It's a transition period.

  • Well in the Spearhead from Space the 3rd Doctor said and did 2nd Doctor antics.

  • Here here! lol

  • im actually looking forward to series 5, the weeping angels and the daleks in the war, my fav dr who eps were the empty child, i cant wait to see the dalek eps (well i heard they were going to be in a war episode, i dont know?)

    =)

  • Tony Curran was awesome as Markus Corvinus and is a good casting choice as Vincent Van Gogh.

  • Series 1=(((

  • the new girl is hot

  • David was good... His actions just got a little repetitive ... Run then shout for a bit the complain about how lonely he is then run a bit more...

  • @banjoglory

Good summary, which is exactly one of the the reasons I didn't think David Tennant was very good.

I blame the writing from the likes of RTD than the actual actor though.

  • if eny one say that david tennant was bad they can go .......... emselfs couse he is the best there ever was so im with you pup2dog

season 2-4 was the best ones compared to season one and i think season 5 might be good but never ever as good as 2-4.

  • @daneruse

    Another one!

What's wrong, can people not have a difference of opinion or something or am I commenting amoungst a bunch of kids?

Seasons 13, 14 and 15 with Tom Baker are personal favourites of mine, is this ok with you, or do we all have to think David Tennant and NuWho is great because you do?

I'm not being critical nor rude towards you for liking NuWho seasons 2-4, am I? So show people the same respect back.

  • @6Man666666

I'm actually quite optimistic about Matt Smith being a good Doctor Who, had RTD still been the lead writer & executive producer I'd have been really dreading it! (and I'm not a Moffat fan either)

Just think, had RTD stayed on, it would probably have been Russell Tovey(Midshipman Alonso Frame) as the new Doctor instead of Matt Smith in the part.

Now, that would have been a nightmare!

  • would that be the artist vincent van gogh

  • Hmm the doctor bringing a famous historical figure into the present, interesting

  • Why is there still continual whinging and pining for David Tennant in these comments, he wasn't all that good and RTDs writing was awful!

I'm more optmistic about Matt Smith doing a good job as the Doctor, since Tennant was dire.

GIve me a life in the TARDIS back to the days of Tom Baker and Philip Hinchcliffe anytime!

  • That is just your opinion. Firstly, we haven't had a chance to really, truly see Matt Smith in action (And I'm hopeful he will be great), so people have nothing to really go on but what they know. And they know David Tennant. And it is only your opinion that he wasn't that good. Many people think he was brilliant. Don't be so arrogant as to think only your opinion matters.

  • @EverlasingEgypt - yes, people are entitled to have their own opinion, but it looks like you're very quick to snap and be critical towards people who don't agree with yours.

For the record I'm neither arrogant nor think only my opinion matters, that's basically your judgement and opinion of me based on little more than a youtube video comment.

Word of advice, take a good look at yourself before you judge others.

I've seen Matt Smiths' work, so perhaps some people have more to go on?

  • ok but i will just say your co co crazy to say that DT wasn't a good doctor

  • @balesy1974 DO NOT EVER SAY DT WAS A BAD DOCTOR! EVER!

  • @Matty09Magic

    Why not?

Am I not allowed to have my own opinion or something?

I don't like David Tennant as Doctror Who, it's not a crime to say it nor have my own opinion.

  • @balesy1974 why then, wats wrond with dt and il let u say it!

  • @Matty09Magic

You'll let me have my say, will you?

Hahaha how very kind of you to grant me permission to give my opinion! (not the sarcasm)

Look, I'm not fond of RTDs writing & I feel that David Tennant was let down by bad writing and bad stories, so I can't say I'm a fan of Doctor 10 nor Doctor 9 for that matter either.

Not everyone likes the same thing and I prefer Doctor Who from 1974 to 1981, it's as simple as that.

  • that's not true and you know it it was brilliant acting and writing and and and *cry cry cry cry* look what you've made me do now I'm all upset thanks allot

  • David Tennant WAS NOT A DIRE DOCTOR, HE WAS BRILLIANT!!! BEST SO FAR AS A LOT OF PEOPLE AND COMMENTS IN TV MAGS etc have been saying

  • @Scottishgal78

Obviously we have a difference of opinion.

My apologies, but other peoples' comments and comments printed in "TV mags" will not sway my personal opinion, is this ok with you?

I found David Tennant to be overated as Doctor Who and not a patch on my childhood Doctor, which was Tom Baker.

I've very glad you're a DT fan, each to our own.

  • TV Mags don't mean a thing...the mainstream are for the most part fickle and are mesmerised by tart-tv like Pop Idol and The X-Factor

  • he walks like a drubk giraffe

  • He sounds like a teenager acting for a school project, not a 900-ish year old timelord.

  • I still hate his attire. Actually, I don't mind the jacket, but I think if they were going for that look, they should have went all out Proffessor-Indiana-Jones look instead of giving him skinny trousers. 0:36 - they're too short. Haha. They look soft and will look even worse 5-10 years down the line when we look back retrospectively. That said, Smith looks like he could give a decent performance.

  • Man Im Gonna Miss DTs Heroes Jacket.

The One Thats All Long . :(

  • The Van Gogh story is set in Paris of the past. It's likely this scene is the Doctor taking Van Gogh on a little "teaser" visit to the future after the story has been resolved, making it one of the final scenes of the episode. This would also explain why the Doctor's TARDIS is covered in bits of burning debris at the start of the scene. The Doctor clearly identifies their location as Paris in this scene.

  • You've obviously never seen Tom Baker.

  • @chrisindapurplehouse actually the doctor had a lot of male companions in the old series so its not that new.

i really hope that matt smith will do a good job. i was nervous about david tennant and now i think he was one of the best doctors! so im going to give matt smith a chance.

  • male companion oo thats new

  • Well it's supposed to be Vincent Van Gogh so probably not a companion.

  • but this isnt his time he even says that this is 2010 so hes atleast take van gogh out of his time does that not make him a comanion

  • Hmm maybe. It's a grey area I suppose. People who can be counted as companions but never travelled in time with him are Astrid, Christina, Jackson Lake, Rosita. On the other hand that Adam fellow from "Dalek" travelled in time with him and is a "companion" but personally I wouldn't count him as one. Didn't make much of an impact.

  • Yeah, RTD admitted that "The Long game" script never really worked properly. But Adam was always going to disappoint Rose and the Doctor and get left behind.

  • I'm fed up of all these rubbish fans who keep slging of matt smith if u supposedly fans how come ur not willing to give him a chance do u realise that he is the 11th man to play the part? Change happens this is not new! Smith looks the part can't say much bout his charecter cause I don't no wot he's like but I'm sure he must be good cause they wouldn't have cast otherwise now everyone stop going on bout gaunt depresive 10th doctors rubbish last episode abs get over it!

  • I'm fed up of all these rubbish fans who keep slging of matt smith if u supposedly fans how come ur not willing to give him a chance do u realise that he is the 11th man to play the part? • they would not have picked him if they dident like his performance at the audition so give him a chance!!

  • Shame I wasnt there!!! lol

  • The finale is gonna be called

"The Pandorica opens" parts 1 and 2

  • i miss david tennat already

  • Don't we all? But I'm gonna give Matt Smith a chance

  • i thinks he's a monkey, but i thought that about David Tennant when i first saw him so..........

  • your right...i hope this guy does a good job

  • i haven't read all the posts but doctor who series 1? on the clapper board, that i find interesting.

  • that s obvioulsy the episode with Van Gogh..lol

  • omfg tony curran <3 <3

    gonna watch now

  • Haha snowy millennium centre :)

  • he has lol hair :P

  • I'm hoping that the TARDIS looks more like the origanal or like the 8th Doctor's (his is my favorite design) in the interior. The outside looks like the first Doctor's witch (sometimes) had the symbol on the front and white edged windows.

  • I like his costume, I know that some people have a problem with it, but all those people must keep this in mind, I read in Doctor Who magazine that the original costume was going to be a pirate-style one and it was Matt Smith who actually objected and insisted it get changed, thank goodness for Smith cause I dont think I could have believed (or liked) a pirate Doctor.

  • i'm liking the limp that he has, it's kinda like how i walk normally.

  • but to the tardis comment its cool though cause they added a saint johns ambulance emblem to it and i use to go saint johns ambulance lol xD

  • He looks better with the blue bow tie than the dark red one. Steven changed the the tardis and based it on the tardis in the dalek movie in the 60s.

  • When is the first episode on uk tv?

  • @6124slater March 13th.

  • The Doctor is immune to cold, I bet it's hard to do it in REAL cold. YEAAAAAH, David had it easy, all that snow was artificial :P

  • ya know i feel really sorry for matt

cause loads of ppl h8 him i mean

its not his fault david left is it so

any one who h8s him h8s

    dr who

    SO THERE

    matt smith will be awsome

  • Series 5 looks really cool! I can't wait to see it. And I'm going to miss the tenth doctor very much but I think it's nice to watch the series with a new doctor. The only thing I'm not sure about is the tardis.. I loved the old one, they shouldn't have changed it.

  • The TARDIS has been changed almost as many times as the Doctor - its part of what MAKES Doctor Who

Not to mention that the old model wouldn't have worked with the new HD equipment. All the shots with TEN were so close up or so far away during the last specials BECAUSE the set isn't designed around HD so they've got not choice but to change it

That and Moffat wants his own design lol

  • Will Matt pull it up? He looks like an Alien.

  • van gogh plus ear I notice :P

  • oh god... that was my first thought too XD

  • The tardis looks... newer?

  • It is. It has a new light blue colour and there is a st john ambulance sticker.

  • @corbinleach Newer? Or Older? I donno what to choose. Its based of the original with William Hartnell. Thats the St.John ambulance logo.

The lighter blue as well. **it looked better in black and white**

  • It'll also look better in HD - don't forget, that camera wasn't adjusted for HD. The TARDIS and shooting scheme has been designed around HD so the brighter colors and bolder sets are aimed around this

  • . . . im so worried. . . ps why does he look like he is limping?

  • There's no denying how cool that was

  • cant wait 2 C series 5!

  • lol so he brought van gogh to cardiff, cant wait to see what comes of that. Also blue bow tie and suspenders, awsome

  • I thought that Arthur Darvil's character Rory was supposed to be in this episode. So how have they come back to modern day without him.

  • For all you cosplayers out there, the blue version of the 'PS By Paul Smith' shirt worn by Matt Smith as Eleven is available on ww w.tobi. com (sorry for the wonky spacing but apparently youtube does not allow web addresses or links in the posted comments...)

  • matt smith looks like he should still be wearing his training pants

  • Continuing to troll as usual yeah Flyinghfaggotman?

  • Awesome! Can't wait for spring!
