@AnnieSweetieOakley : Glad to see someone noticed the ridiculous editing error. This was a student work that was created in a single night with a bit of coffee some years ago. I didn't have much time for editing and the credits were an afterthought. Still, that is no excuse to butcher a master artist's name. I formally apologize for the editing error. I would replace the video, but sadly You Tube does not support that functionality as of yet. Again, I do apologize for the error.
I agree with the poster you should put some MUSIC with this. You work three whole days on this 52 sec vid and can't be bothered to upload some apposite music with it?!
You may open another window with youtube and play the music you want to go with it simultaneously. Some dodecaphonic staff for example or whatever you want.
Quite a playful vid of Kandinsky's linear artwork. Noted...a bit of repetitive aggression in your animation. His style was excitedly nonconformist. A delightfully-creative vid! Thanks for posting!
I'm an artist too. At first I took art on a fluke just to meet my electives. My instructor kept saying I painted like Kandinsky but I didn't know who he was. After I looked him up I totally fell in love with his style. And I know I can't come close to his genius. When I see someone like you being playful with his work it makes me think he would have really liked it.
I've loved Kandinsky's work since I first saw it, about 11 years ago. The first time I saw it, I saw it in motion, so I was fascinated to later learn that he was also a musician, as music takes place across time, as does animation (as opposed to a still painting).
You've animated his visions beautifully, an differently than I would; you're interested in a different period of his work than I am. Very interesting. Hope to have some work to share with you sometime.
very nice stuff... your class had their projects due before my class.. so you are part of the reason i felt the need to actually try and make my project worth a damn.. ha.. if i hadnt already chosen kandinsky.. i might have been okay with turning in crap.. but you made me feel the need to make an actual attempt at something hopefully worthwhile (though the version i have on youtube isnt the final one i turned in)
Honestly, I would have to recompose (which may happen) the entire animation. Music has to match the rhythm of the animation and vice versa. To answer your question, I would say yes, I think the piece could benefit from some audio.
I primarily focused on Kandinsky's early 1920s style of painting. The two pieces that I feel most influenced my animation are: "Composition VIII (1923)" and "On White (1923)". Both paintings have stark backgrounds and contain very active fore & middle grounds. Honestly, this is my favorite Kandinsky period. Thank you for the kind comment and I hope I have been of some help to you in reference to your question.
I referenced 2 particular works of Kandinsky: Composition VIII and Black & Violet. I used forms from both, but generally found my compositions leaning to Composition VIII.
The figures are most deffinately influenced by kandinsky's work, but one of the most important aspects is the composition of the colors, which is what his work was all about, the emotional reactions to colors. I admire your intentions of creating this video, but please work on the color choices a bit more.
Eu amo Artes e amo abstracão. Kandinsky é o melhor.

that's pretty cool. did you just use one painting as a reference or was it just his style in general?
