he merely stated that that it would be reason for a higher rating is not a probable reason for not including this content into the officially available game, since it would most probably not be seen as reason for a higher rating; this seems reasonable to me
I believe what is written about the "Slough of Dispair" may be mistake. I think about it this way: its a slough(damp soggy pit), of separation... Let's see, what sort of separation would make the ground wet and soggy? I don't know, DISMEMBERMENT? Yeah, creepy huh? I would put the last room at the top of the creepy shit list
rofl woah woah wait. THIS underwater place with people hanging is gonna push WoW to M for Mature? You guys who say this are not only seriously mistaken, but must have never been to Trisfal Glades or Silverpine Forest. You should check it out, I'm pretty sure there are people hanging everywhere. And don't even get me started on the Ogre encampments with their human heads on poles guarding the entrance, or that abomination factory in the Undercity.
@willmaster93 that only the first modle for the crypt, they wanted to make it more, well, MORE , in the way that it will remaind very much the more horrific and gorey parts of diablo 2. Two of us know Blizzard got the ability to make things creepy.
ive played WoW for over 7 years now and i never knew about this area... no over ever spoke about it and then i heard about it on another website i stumbledupon. its creepy knowing a game i always played and loved had something like this in it and i never knew
I'm glad this didn't turn into one of those, "Its in the program files and we didn't show it to the ESRB but inaccessible to the public under normal use of our products" things like nudity or the infamous Hot Coffee mod...
Of course, its violence and not nudity. Because its more scarring for me to see an argonian woman topless than it is for me to see bloated corpses with their eyes gouged out and their hands chopped off, hanging on a meat hook.
Even if this sounds crazy, or dumb...or sadistic or something, this place is very interesting, and well thought. If WoW Would be for 16 years old, and if they detailed everything a bit, this place would make an AWESOME Dungeon....Or just a great place for a machinima! Comeon, i know you all agree with me...This place is damn scary and i want to play/see it an other way than "Its there and here are speculations." I know we cant do anything else but i´d like to see it used somewhere ;)
In my training class for Blizz, we actually discussed this area. It was originally made to be a part of the instance itself, but apparently the devs decided that it was too morbid to include after all. This is why it is closed off and it is considered exploiting the game to go in there. (Which you can be banned for) just putting that out there!
@txngurl25 And yet there exists a boss in the game made from the bodies of countless women and children. -THAT- isn't "too morbid"? Blizz has some skewed idea of what's too grimdark and what isn't.
The name Doodad is what's given to an interactable game object (go-object) that had a display ID (it's looks) the same as a non clickable object in the enivroment, doodad basically means and scenery object so nice 1 thinking they name shit randomly :/
Oh my GOD! This is so amazingly creepy that I know I won't sleep tonight. I just wish you would have looked down in the pool of "The Upside-down Sinners", to see if was bottomless or not. If it was I'd die of fright. And that's high praise coming from me.
... imagine swimming around there, you go close to a body to have a look, and it opens its eyes and attacks. *Clutches chest* Nightmares for weeks that. And not just the kids, I'm 21 xD
@4BeastBoy If you want really dark and creepy wait for D3, As much as i would like to see this zone opened and used for something I can understand why they didn't and probably never will, its much scarier than anything ever put in WoW, and would probably raise the rating to M. Which is something blizzard does not want for this game.
Fascinating. I spent most of tbc raiding kara and I had no idea these crypts existed, I wonder if that guy from the violet eye who the npc at the gate talks about toured these areas before going mad.
If you turn up the ambience there and mute everything else, you can hear faint heartbeat, which usually gets louder as you get closer to to those two tombs in one chamber, (most likely) Medivh's and his mother, Aegwynn's tombs.. That really freaks me out as the heartbeat alone is VERY creepy in that crypt.
I just did that, freaked the SHIT out of me! You can hear it when your at the gate blocking it off too though. Im gonna go see if it happens in Tirisfal, as thats the same music
In a way, I hope that Blizzard doesn't release this as an instance. The fact that you aren't supposed to be in there or see the place is chilling, and it gives it a mystery and a dark feeling to it. I did, however, laugh at the doors names as it tells me a Blizzard employee just randomly thought up "Doodad_wroughtirondoor02" etc.
The fact that this is a closed-in zone only accessable via glitching makes it verrry creepy, and also because it is so solitary with nothing else in there. The names of the zones really interest me because they are so depressing and dark, I can see why Blizzard never originally opened up this area. Things like this really keep me thinking though.
i been here in sprit mode... back when karazan was the place to be... i ran through the front door and fell through the floor somehow.. it took me forever to get out, the place is massive and takes a realy long time to explore... i never been there after the first time and could not recall on exactly how to get out of it... i think i had to get a rez from guildy.
@Ultizer They won't ever finish it, they'll either change it, or remove it, since the games rating is 12 they won't allow this kind of stuff, yet it looks really awesome
Recently on Moon Guard there was a massive role-play event held here primarily for warlocks. The location of the event was not revealed ahead of time, so everyone who was summoned got this cool, creepy surprise. :)
I was there yesterday and it was SOOOOO fucking funny like 20 ppl,
Now, if you ask how did you get 20 people in: I (mage) went in with blink, normal cheat.. then a friend of me summoned a summoning stone at the part of the crypt you can enter.. i summoned everyone in.
just a thought but isent kara like all magical could it have teal-ported their from some were easel because it looks like it was from the GM play ground(that stuff) ( i had a privet sever exploited whole game know a lot about it)
LMAO, I know. Two years ago, a few of my friends and I went into the Lower Karazhan by accident...
And I literally started gasping for breath. Everyone in our guild thought I was being attacked... the silence of the place is... disconcerting. That's all I can tell you...
Actually a whole raid or something as messed up as the upsidedown Sinners would be cool imo. Through in a darker tone to the endgame like Kara did. Naxx was like "oh shit this place looks pretty cool" but later gets like "meh this is pretty cheesy, what happened to the creepy?"
Definetly feels like a Diablo dungeon, damn I would love this as an instance, or even an area! But no, all we have is cute little Old Gods and silly little tournaments and Lich Kings. :I
i'm saying this quoting Peter Venkman from ghostbusters
"Kitten, what I think I'm saying is, sometimes, shit happens, somebody's gotta deal with it, and who're you gonna call?!" So this is the creepiest area i have ever seen looks like something out of a horror movie, they need the ghostbusters
YumixPanda332: Nothing is inside it. It drops down to an area as a kind of short cut.
The Upside down sinners is a direct reference to Big Trouble in Little China.
All the doors work and have sounds and names. There are black skeletons, more like shadows of them on the ground. I can only assume this is where mobs that pop up will be.
The actual name of this place is the Crypt. You get to it from the graveyard beside Kara. You have to be sheeped or feared into via dual/pvp.
they could take out the sinners and release it but then it wouldnt have such an eerie taste to it. When i was a kid i saw movies that were worse than that and they didnt disturb me
Blizzard while i love their game is THE most hypocritical company imo. This game is VIOLENT. With demons , sorcerers and blood renting pvp combat. I wrote them one time after a GM got on to me about using the word "penis" in chat cause someone was saying dick, cock, etc.
I was warned for "harassment". Dont want kids to see this kind of stuff? I TOTALLY agree with that. Keep them OFF the game. Great video man.
can someone explain me a bit why this video exist its not mean what i say im really trying to understand and would like to know if what u guys are saying is sarcasm or on a actual living story??? plz help me i wanna know more
i think it may be offensive to some, they may have stoped working on it fully, and said it never existed. may have to do with lore, may have been an insance to be opened. but i dont think the cripts will ever be opened. but its sorta dark. i enjoy dark, but still. its semi offensive to some. i would like to see more lore based spots of intrest that do NOT have a quest to do with them. maybe a quest to find it. but thats all. not to be public is the best thing for a lore based zone.
I heard they closed it because the upside-down sinners would disturb kids...Apparently they didn't pay attention what's on some of the gnoll tents in westfall.
....wow.... Kara is rather...uh...freaky? scary? disturbing?... ya disturbing is the word but otherwise good vid despite the feeling that something was going to jump on the screen and give me a heart attack which thank fully there wasn't I some what enjoyed watching it... even though I'm not into scares or stuff like that... Good vid ^^ sad that wowikki didn't put it on their sight Happy Halloween folks... even though its a month away... ^^
Actually, I think this place was made by Sargeras, aka he was a rude bastard, corrupted-titan etc. So when he posessed MEdivh he made this place/turned into a torturing kind of chamber. That's why the Upside-down Sinners etc.
I don't think so . The Medivh you are talking about isn't alive anymore . He was killed by Lothar and Khadgar . ( Actually it wasn't because off Lothar being such a good swordsman or Khadgar's powerfull magic. It was because the good Medivh stood up against his evil side .After "Medivh" was killed the part of wich was containing Sargeras was thrown into the Nether and the good part had survived)
So finally, looking at the title again, it is saying "the despair of being separated". Perhaps married couples were killed here, or something major in lore occurred at this very spot. Either way, the empty room will impress lore-fans everywhere.
I heard that lower Kara is where Medivh and Sargeras parted ways, maybe this is a refrance to that?
This is possibly the scariest place I've ever seen (in a game ofcourse, but still real-life and WoW are divided by a very thin line in situations like this - I had goosebumps!)
Good job, the music, everything about this video did the place justice. I really do hope this becomes a raid/instance or something. Karazhan will have nothing on this place - A true horror area.
i just been there tho... pity they out ur film on the website :(

All u have to do to get in is duel a class with a fear, or a rogue's blind right but the locked gate and u'll most likely get through.

Yeah, it's a creepy place. Wanted to do it justice with this video, and I think I did! :)
