  • that is oen great swedish racing hero

  • @goodwilltubing

    Great vid, thanks for posting!!

    Keep on the good work!!

    Greetings from Germany

  • goodwilltubing your videos are so informative and respectful. All these deaths are awful but your tributes are tasteful and respectful. Let's hope fatal accidents in motor racing never happen again thanks to improving safety.

    Happy racing from England

  • Thx for the praise, dazcous!

It's my goal to make my tributes as much respectful and informative as possible.

May these heroes will never be forgotten.

Nowadays safety is much bigger than back in those days, but fatalities will happen everytime (see Henry Surtees or Carlos Pardo).

It's the risk of death these guys are willing to pay.

  • Its weird to look back on that driver swap that never happened. If Ronnie would have switched rides with Tom Pryce, would they both be with us today? This is another well made video. Very Respectful. 5/5.

  • THX zbc!

Maybe Tom would have lived on, cause the accident on Kyalami was a cause of milliseconds.

I think nobody would have reacted in time, cause the reactiontime was too short.

    Still heroes in our heart!

    RIP Tom & Ronnie

  • i just noticed that that is true! to be honest i never knew, but if Tom was given to Ronnie's seat, he would probaly became either 1-4th. if Ronnie was om Tom's car, he might have been able to dodge Van Vuuren. A truley life changing accident(s)

  • In 1974 the idea of the trade was out there. Peterson was more know, and would have brought sponsors to Shadow, and Pryce would have saved Lotus money, because he was a rising star who would have had a contract of less money than Ronnie. Lotus also believed that Pryce was as talented as Peterson. I am not sure why it never worked out, but its sad that both drivers would die of freakish causes in the years that followed.

  • I never knew that that was a questionable possibility!

Like I wrote above, i think that Ronnie's accident could have been avoided, but Pryce's never.

  • If Ronnie was in Tom's car, he would have raced and qualified differently from Tom, and maybe everyone would have missed Janson if Tom's car was at a different area. and Pryce might have qualified in a different spot at this race and might not have had the some problems Ronnie had... but again these are all what ifs? R.I.P. to Ronnie Peterson and R.I.P. to Tom Pryce.

  • Very great video!! i'm kinda proud you took Ronnie Peterson because i'm also from sweden and all I have to say is a very great video, I had a hard time to see what happened but thanks to you I can see a lot better how it happened so thanks goodwilltubing for another great video and keep up with the good work

  • THX!

It is so bad that Ronnie died under scuh bad circumstances.

He was one of the best drivers from his time.

At that time, safety and management was very bad.

Remeber Piers Courage and Roger Williamson, those marshals were only standing around doing nothing (Oh I hate those marshals back then, especially at the Williamson accident)

It is good, that safety is much better than then, but it will never get back those fights (like Villeneuve and Arnoux 1979)

However, Rest in Peace, Ronnie Peterson

  • I agree, the marshals were so bad when Williamson crashed they didn't do nothing it looked more that they wanted him to be burned to death instead of helping saving his life from the fire

but anyway Vila I Frid Ronnie Peterson (that's Rest in Peace in swedish)

  • @goodwilltubing apart from that, GWT, that terrible crash -Monza '78 for the F1WC- was caused -also- by a major power outage at the track, therfeore producing an unexpected scoring error at the very start of the race -look for Villenueve, Andretti and all other drivers running away @ :51-.:55.-.....

  • Ronnie Petersen is someone who should have never died in F1s. He survived his crash, he gets medical treatment and then an embolism, of all things, kills him.

I guess what it came down to back then was just sheer bad luck.

    Another excellent video.

  • You're right, Ronnie Peterson is a victim of bad circumstances:

First, the marshals had no plan handeling the situation, held all people back of getting onto the track, including the medicals.

So Ronnie lied about 12 minutes on the track till help approaches.

Then in the hospital, the doctors made a mistake in surgery, so fatty tissue came into his bloodstream, and so he suffered an embolism.

    RIP Ronnie Peterson

  • nice one. rip:(
