5:23 is my favorite jumper any player all time i remember watching this game and losing my shit over that shot. dont try that at home kids.only kobe can do that
This game might thave been the most representative of his career, at least without context taken into account. This was a dig days of February game, second of back to backs (50 plus points and 2 OT's 24 hours earlier) and despite his knee being like "a log" when he woke up, he has it tended for ten hours and he gets on the court, temporarily robbed of his explosiveness and he gets 40 plus almost entirely on the strength of his shooting stroke and footwork. He showed us that his game had matured.
this is by far the most skilled basketball player that has ever played the game. best tought shot maker ever, best footwork ever, best fundamentals ever. hes not the flashiest dribbler ever, but is as good at creating space as anyone ever besides MJ i guess. but Kobe's skill is far and away the best.
kobe has never scored 37 or more in 10 straght games, michael jordan did. for the jackasses that brag michael never did 13 straght 35 or more. and michael avg 37.1 that year for 82 games. 37 beats 35
thing about Kobe is that u can't really say for sure if #8 Raw Kobe was better then todays Kobe..yes he was more raw, more confident at times..with complete game..but todays Kobe even know he has lost a step is still better then anyone. it's a tossup hard to tell..both Kobes are deadly and unstoppable, but today he is tired and needs rest..we will see next season when he is rested.
But to Kobes point he is done scoring a lotta points..maybe sometimes, but he does not have to he paces himself
i wanta mention that kobe was 24 at this time just as lebron is right now...and put p 40 plus for the entire month with shaq missing half the season and the lakers having to rally back from countless injury to eventually make the playoffs...before shaq came back again for the last twenty games bryant was avg. 32 8 8 but then deferred to shaq more when he returned
Flames you're an idiot. He's barely any less athletic, but now, twice as cerebral. If you actually watch some games you'll see he scores more effectively than ever through post play. His role has changed from playmaker to scorer, so his rebounding and assists numbers have fallen, it's not strictly a correlation to athleticism. Look to any prior season to 2002 and you'll find, statistically, to be 2002 an outlier... meaning it was one of his most statistically stellar years, along with 2005/2006.
kobe is better now. Its not about athleticism and so much speed. Kobe is still one of the quicker guards in the nba and his jumper, handle, passing and IQ are all better now tthan they were in 02-03. The Last time kobe was forced to score because of teammates lack of skill was 05-06 and he averaged 35 a game. He still has that capability.
its how he played, it matter, when he was athletic he was better. If you watched him in 02-03 you would know that he was better then. He averaged 30/7/6 in 02-03
if only kobe jumper was still this good.....its still good but it seems as if its getting toupher for hm to make the shots he made back in 02-03...i miss those good old days
r u serious kobe is way better than the 02-03 season the only reason u say that is because he is not trying to score all the time now he's getting his teammates involved and that's y they r in the finals i can't believe u said that
9 straight 3 ptrs is all jumpshooting..11 straight feild goals is a mix with layups dunks..mid range...but whatever..were both kobe fans..no need to argue
are you kidding me? back then he got chips with shaq which was good, but now hes getting to the finals with little help. And which year did he get MVP?
That doesn't make any sense. I don't think Jordan was better in '87 than he was in '93 or '96 just because he was more athletic and had better stats. Same applies to any great player who gets smarter and better over time.
thats true... but i think the reason mj didnt use the j as much is because he knew he wasnt that much of a shooter early on i think kobe developed the jumpshot earlier than jordan did thats why
@fcpclaudiomoreira Kobe is the greatest outside shooter in nba history? that is probably one of the stupidest things ive ever heard. maybe you mean SCORER but not shooter. Have you ever heard of ray allen or reggie miller
@LAKERFAN141 yeap i agree he is definitely not the best shooter in terms of shooting % . but i think he is one of the best at getting shots off the dribble.
Jordan was far more consistent with his perimeter game than Kobe. I would say they are equal in a pure shooting sense, but Jordan knew how to get more quality looks than Kobe. I swear Kobe takes tough shots on purpose to test himself.
These guys that think MJ is a better outside shooeter than Kobe...dont know what the hell they are talking about...They need to watch more than the occasional ABC Lakers game. Kobe is EASILy a better outside scorer than Jordan.. ar eyou kidding me?
the best shooter of all time? WTH? and that comment was pretty correct in terms of mj has kobe 18 feet and in. But futher back, you could say kobe was better. Also, this was in fact kobe's peak year imo because of the balance he had shooting 3's and getting to the rack.
Maybe I'm not the Kobe expert like some of you guys are but wouldn't you say Kobe was at his peak physically in 02-03? His first step was more explosive than ever, his baseline-to-baseline speed terrific and his hops + overall finishing at the basket was great too. From 00-02 he was probably more agile but as an OVERALL athlete(speed, quickness, explosiveness, strength etc) I'd say he peaked in 02-03.
if you peak physically.. that doesnt mean you are your peak.... Basketball isnt just about your athleticism.... the most athletic players are rarely th ebest players..
I'd say MJ's a better shooter than Kobe from abt 12-18 feet, 18-21 is a tossup, and Kobe's definitely got the edge outside of 21 feet. Calling him the greatest shooter ever is probably a stretch(I'd say he's Top 10). He's a very streaky 3pt shooter and his career % from there is very mediocre. I must say though I've never seen a player nail those 20-22 footers with the ease Kobe has the last few seasons.
micahel jordan isn't close to the greatest shooter of all time. Not sure kobe is, but he definitely has a better shot than michael. jordan probably has the edge on the drive
Wow, he single-handedly carried LA this game. The shot at 5:20 is ridiculous, his jumper is on lock during this game. Kobe is so talented, it's not even fair. Looking forward to the rest of the streak!
