And please could you tell us what pickups those are on the strat that sound so wonderfully fat...?

thank you for the great video...

  • I'm so sorry, I love you and this video, and that sound is amazing... But... IDEERS... XD

  • Nice sounding guitar.

  • Very nice Roy! Thank you.

My page has some Robin Trower video lessons.

They're not the best, but then again, I've never been the best instructor.

    Thanks again for your effort!.

    Cheers!

    Bob

  • cool...

  • Full Tab Book for Bridge of Sighs is available. Get a Vibe the OCD or an RTO via Fulltone. Robin uses all Fulltone.

  • @blindmellonchittlen Yeah, he should take a look at how well you play in all those videos of yourself you have uploaded - oh, thats right you haven't have you? Wonder why not. Actually, I can take a good guess......

  • @blindmellonchittlen LOL there's no better feeling than getting an angry, childlike reaction from desperately sad youtube trolls....

That d7 shape is very Trower-noticed your rig has a bit of hum going on-are they humbucker pups?

  • @mdo6262

    He said "4" years...

  • sounds a wee bit scottish dhere.

  • Hardly! Read the info.

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • It is a Vintage Advance Series AV6PLB - the pup's are a stacked humbucker with a rotary coil tap facility.

  • SIMPLY AWESOME!

  • Cool and very useful. thnx for sharing!!!!

  • Sweet lesson Roy! Thanks for the good work.

  • huge trower fan but that last statement is clearly said with sarcasm ...tongue in cheek or....complete lunacy.I just saw robin last nite@ the egg in albany ny...the genius was on his game...extraordinary.

  • Trower probably has had more fans than Elvis Hendrix and the Beatles combined !

  • If you really want to learn some RT, he has his own instructional vid out. Its been invaluable for me. Like one one one lessons. Alot more in depth than this .

  • Yeah, which you would have to buy, unlike this which is free.

  • @blindmellonchittlen Hey, 5 months to comeback with a such a pithy reply. Is that a record?

  • awesome lesson thanks for posting

  • great stuff. i really wanted to hear those pickups!

  • Nice vid man. Keep 'em coming!

  • Wow. Your playing is simply wonderful. Fiery and inspiring. Thank you for sharing this and helping everyone out...what talent.

  • Thanks for taking the time to share this.

One comment about the 'D7' technique à la 'Little Bit of Sympathy': try it without the 7th (B string). Trower is only using 5th (G string) and maj 3rd (E string) on that run, with the exception of when he gets to the 12th fret and inverts to a maj 3rd + 1st.

On the original album track, he starts out with 5th/maj 3rd, then 5th/min 3rd -- sounds wicked :-)

  • Are you sure about that, I think he only takes his finger off the B on the last note of that run. You can watch him on some of the vids on YT.

  • Just as important as your excellent playing, is the way you make it sound more achievable than it initially seems. Great job!

  • Robin Trar?

  • lol

  • Right, Robin Trar. Just as famous as Elvis Prelly.

  • I'd love to get some one-on-one lessons from mr. Fulton! This video really inspired me!

  • killer fretwork! great

  • Great playing and great vid. Thanks. I have a Boss Rotary Speaker Ensemble... but I think I need a one of them "wee" Boss Chorus'.

  • Yes! Finally a lesson on Trower's style! Thanks so much for taking the time to make and post this vid. Five stars!

  • Wild player, great

  • Very cool explanation of Robin's style.
