yah their was a remake, but I'm not sure if it was ever made into a anime or if it just stayed a manga. The remake is slightly different but follows pretty closely to the original from what I understand. I haven't personally read/watched either other than their first ep/chapter of the original and the remake. But the remake was posted in Shonen Jump a few years back, their was a big fuss over it for fan of the original, or so I heard. Your best bet is to google if you want more info.

When I first saw this anime, I thought it was gonna suck because I thought it was pretty weird and it had very little to do with the manga.

But then I kept on watching beyond part one of episode 1 and watched some more episodes, and then all of a sudden I started loving it because it was so funny and cool. And now I think it's like the best thing ever. I strongly encourage anyone who doesn't like it to keep watching and watch at least up to the 3rd episode (I thought that one was hilarious).

uh i hate shin chan so i agree with u they could have dine a lot better in the character design but at least some of the dragons look awsome and if u like dragons then u got to check out the series dragon drive its awsome and some people have the episodes in english but if u really like dragon drive then buy the two dvd sets off ebay and then read the books its getting really good
