Mr. Coleman, your work is absolutely superb and what a knowledge base! All we can say is, "How!" Thank you for many hours of entertainment from those of us who adore this sort of thing. Kind regards.
"Your Uncle Frank" ought to be "your Uncle Keith" - Keith Martin worked as a continuity announcer for more ITV franchises than I care to remember, although ABC, Anglia, Southern, TVS and LWT are the ones that spring to mind.
In those days, Bernard Manning was probably thought of as "irreverent" rather than a "racist, sexist, chauvinist pig", therefore Southern saw nothing wrong in showing his act. Besides, he was Northern, and any criticism could be rebuffed with that argument.
You have got Southern TV to a T! The home of the middle-classes. My posh brother lives down there and I hated going to see them and having to watch boring old Southern TV!
The middle class comments amused me

Southern was still stuck in 1950s Britain - no wonder they lost the franchise.

I thought I'd always imaginated, 'Under Manning', as a TV programme, but obviously it did exist!!

I thought DC Thompson also owned shares in Scottish, but I could be wrong.

It's interesting how bitter Southern was about losing their contract, because surely ATV was a much greater loss?

They could have done, but hey, lets be frank, who cares about the IOW?

I reckon you should do Anglia in the face next or BBC childrens programming in the 80's?

He was only the Cyberleader that one time. Search for "You Belong To Us. You Will Absorb Our Spillages." for the guy who did it in the eighties.

I always wondered what the Cyber leader looked like outside of the costume...and so that's Worzel Gummidge. I always wondered...

Ooh! My region!
I'm old enough to remember TVS. And I can just about remember in-vision continuity.
And yes, I'm firmly middle-class.
