PTSD is a non visible injury. It has been called many things, like, shell shock. It was seen graphically in WW1 and WW2. If a soldier returns from war with a missing arm or leg, people tend to be more understanding, sympathetic. The medical establishment is still researching the most complex organ in the human body..the brain. There is much ignorance concerning PTSD..however, it is important that suffers know, many of us understand and hope you receive the treatment you deserve. God Bless

It's different symptoms caused by a different kind of trauma, they were exposed to constant shelling, the reflex that makes you twitch as something unexpectedly goes "boom" near you, it broke in them, they just have it all the time.
PTSD has a variety of symptoms, I wouldn't say it's more severe just because it's more visible.
PTSD is a physical change that happens in the brain. The guys in the trenches lived with the stress that changed their brains dramatically for four years sometimes. It was very similar to parkinson's disease the manifestation of it. PTSD today is just as tramatic in many aspects, just hopefully they get help before it gets to that severe a point.

Though it has been almost ten years since I've been out, I still have bad dreams every month about getting recalled to duty and fighting. Plus, so many of my friends who went off to fight in Iraq have come back completely different men and I can see the pain and anguish in their eyes. The one thing that I remember from the Marine Corps is this: "you are not a sensitive civilian."

I have also seen a clip on youtube where a doc. takea a picture of the brain of ppl that have ptsd and it shows that certain parts of the brain is working extra hard all the time making it automatic for ppl to keep having flashback, nightmares, etc.

It's different symptoms caused by a different kind of trauma, they were exposed to constant shelling, the reflex that makes you twitch as something unexpectedly goes "boom" near you, it broke in them, they just have it all the time.
PTSD has a variety of symptoms, I wouldn't say it's more severe just because it's more visible.

PTSD is a physical change that happens in the brain. The guys in the trenches lived with the stress that changed their brains dramatically for four years sometimes. It was very similar to parkinson's disease the manifestation of it. PTSD today is just as tramatic in many aspects, just hopefully they get help before it gets to that severe a point.

I served with 2nd Battalion 7th Marines and my enlistment ended just before the Iraq War started. Though it has been almost ten years since I've been out, I still have bad dreams every month about getting recalled to duty and fighting. Plus, so many of my friends who went off to fight in Iraq have come back completely different men and I can see the pain and anguish in their eyes. The one thing that I remember from the Marine Corps is this: "you are not a sensitive civilian."

i was injured in iraq. army give me a pentition and sent me on my why. i hate the army so much. i lost my wife and kids and some really good friends. im going to die b/c im addicted to pain meds from my injurys. im such a junky i got to canada to get tyelnol 1 pills. i live in my appt and live like a hermit.

I hate seeing my fellow soldiers, all over the world, have this affect on their minds. I had the same stress, and I onyl recovered it by hobbies, and slowly letting out all the guilt and anger out in tournaments. I speak for us veterans, so we can speak out to people, like you and all those who arent defiled by war. I am a moral speaker, and I hoep no one has to deal with the atrocities in war, which is sadly not the case. And dont join, unless you have a cause, a cause that you see fit to help

yes, originally and still being used to recruit at The Army Experience Center in the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia (cost tax payers $12 M), online via free download with recruiters trolling the chat rooms and with the traveling exhibit (costing $10 M a year to tax payers) the Virtual Army Experience, last seen down in Alabama last week.

this is so bullshit. it's so hard to get help. you go to the damn r&r center because you're depressed today or having anxiety atttacks and they don't make you an appointment for a month and a half because the resources aren't enough and there are too many soldiers for the small amount of healthcare they can provide. the waiting lists are ridiculous.

I went in for help starting 33 years ago, but nothing worked. What now? It is amazing how this guy has it and "snap" he is cured, yet after 33 years i still have it. Can I please have this easy form of PTSD too.

I have also seen a clip on youtube where a doc. takea a picture of the brain of ppl that have ptsd and it shows that certain parts of the brain is working extra hard all the time making it automatic for ppl to keep having flashback, nightmares, etc.
