  • how exactly do you have a jake on a two stroke?

  • Wow, a truck from '48 with air conditioning

  • where did you get the engine brake

  • @flippedmysled

Jacobs makes them. Check the Jake Brake website, listed under Detroit Diesel and 53 series.

  • That has a perfect body on it no dings or anything.

  • drove that thing right out from underneath the cab

  • Nice turn signal!

  • its only illegal if you get caught so go out and have some fun before your too old

  • Ding Ding Ding You Win.

Pick a prize from the top shelf.

    Care for double or nothing?

What is the c.i. displacement of the engine?

  • i love how the passenger puts his right hand out for the turn. LOL!!!

    over and.......

  • Thanks,

Glad you like it, it was fun.

Don't miss "4-53T drive by" that one puts a smile on my face,

    Grigg

  • that thing is friggin sssssiiiiiccckkkk kick ass job

  • @Grigg3 Wow. I just experienced a weird coincidence. I was searching Jacobs engine brakes for the Cummins 6bt, and was led to a forum where someone was asking if they make them for the 4bt. "Grigg", whom I can only assume was you, said that they don't make them for the b-series Cummins, but you had a pic of a Jake setup on a Detroit 4-53t. That must be this engine here. As big as the internet is, its still a small world. Funny thing is, I've seen this video a few times in the past.

  • Y'all are diesel heads after my own heart.

  • are you going to put a body on that thing? or is it your custom street rod i think it looks sweet without the cab but it would be cool with one as well

  • who would need drugs if you had one of those?? id be one of the worse addicts(to that sound and truck) if i owned it thanks

  • ohhhhhh nice!

  • cool truck

  • didn't even know that they made a jake break for the 53 series detroits.

  • hell yeah brother!!

    nice

  • Who needs a cab when you got a Screamin' Detroit!!!

  • @1pinchipendejo well said

  • Ya gota make a longer vid!

  • LMAO that is hilarious! Going to be an awesome truck when its done!

  • lmao

  • That's great ,you guy's are the best. That looked like too much fun.

  • Working on exhaust with muffler and a different turbo right now, should have it running again in a week or so.

  • c'mon grigg... more vids! Your public awaits! :D Can't wait to see it running with the body on :)

  • ahahahahahahahah thats fuckiiiiiig great danm you great video boys

  • LMFAO! A naked ass truck with a deathly Jake Brake!

  • it needs a body

  • your a nut great vid to

  • WOW!

thanks for posting this grigg, that sounds absolutely beautiful. sorry i missed you in PA! jeep's running great now, did you see that video of the cj7 with a 3-53? check my favourites...

  • That thing sounds awesome. Keep posting videos! I want to do something similar someday - maybe a mid-70s 4x4 crewcab dually with one of those powerplants. :)

  • I heard that the jakes on the 53 series really didn't do much as far as braking. I think it's because the displacement is too small to make a decent engine brake to slow you down on grades. 92 series had better working jake brakes due to the big displacement. But really they aren't as good compared to 4 stroke diesels such as cummins or cats.

  • BS! They work great on the 53 series. I have owned, driven and ridden in other Detroit53 series powered trucks with Jakes, and they really do work as expected. A 53 series is two cycle, the Jake brakes are about twice as effective on a two cycle engine compared to the same displacement 4 cycle with same number of cylinders.

  • oh really?

  • If they don't work then why did/does Jacobs make them??

  • True.

  • NICE , you must be having a ball runnin that around

  • Was this a fire truck at one time? Reason I ask is that the wheels are red.

  • No, it was a flat bed dump, and will be a flat bed again. I just wanted red wheels, and they'll eventually match the body.

  • now thats a jake big sound in a small package lol i love it 5/5

  • BODY..? what body! u dont need one!

  • How friggin' cool is that?! Keep the vids coming!

  • Makes me miss my driving days in the big rig. Nice`work and I'm looking forward to further progress.

  • sounds good looks good,I have a complete 48 chassis any one interested radidator to rear end,put the cab on a 79frame,453 engine, not finished bud getting there

  • where in the world did u find jakes for a 453 detroit at, i want in on it lol

  • Jacobs made them, but not very common. My Detroit parts supplier is pretty sure they are still available new from Jacobs. I just bought some replacement parts, so some stuff is available for sure.

  • Cool sounding. Love em jakes. Sounds almost like my 353 when I had the jakes on it.

Cant wait to see it finished with a load on it.

  • Same here! I love it!

  • those jakes are sounding awesome, grigg... can't wait to see the truck once it's finished!
