Hope he can kick on this year, he's got the ability but would like to see him be more aggresive and show more desire. His first touch is pretty awfull at times but once he gets running with the ball he is a real powerhouse and can be unstoppable. This season surely has to be make or break for him.

Your don't have any arguments to support your opinion and those regarding Babel are very poor and perhaps biased too, as he is often employed as a winger and has different tasks as to when he would play in the striker position. And trying to beat one player too many? Babel barely gets in trouble when he is in possession!
Van Basten isn't a great coach at all, his position is undermined by the historic traditions of Dutch formations, none the less he is a good mentor and has helped many youngsters, but his tactical know how is lacking and he makes idiosyncratic decisions. & yes, Ryan Babel's main fault is the same as Lionell Messi's, occasionsly maintains possession to long when a simple pass or more effective form of distribtuion was on the cards.
I never called him a great coach, as only time can tell, though I probably might as he's done a great job so far. Suggesting Van Basten lacks tactical know-how undermines the fact you do not use your brains properly. And I have actually watched the Eredivisie and can confidently judge Babel to have performed reasonably well and seen he has certain outstanding skills.
Van Basten's approach to football is too old school for its own good, he is playing the same tactics with the national team which were implemented when he was playing. Babel's trequartista role suits him well enough, but his final product still lacks at times. Every player has faults, its a given, now that he plays for Liverpool doesn't mean he is without fault.
I don't know at which point you doozed off, but did I say Babel is a player without faults? And Van Basten obviously plays with those tactics for a very good reason. You don't really believe that he just wants people to stand in 4-3-3 formation and hopes he gets away with it? There's much more thought and dynamic involved.

Babel has featured in only two of Liverpool's pre-season games. He's obviously getting used to playing in his new squad, and ofcourse, he's still working on improving his play, as he's only twenty. There's absolutely no need to worry over these performances, which haven't even been bad.

Van Basten isn't a great coach at all, his position is undermined by the historic traditions of Dutch formations, none the less he is a good mentor and has helped many youngsters, but his tactical know how is lacking and he makes idiosyncratic decisions. & yes, Ryan Babel's main fault is the same as Lionell Messi's, occasionsly maintains possession to long when a simple pass or more effective form of distribtuion was on the cards.

I never called him a great coach, as only time can tell, though I probably might as he's done a great job so far. Suggesting Van Basten lacks tactical know-how undermines the fact you do not use your brains properly. And I have actually watched the Eredivisie and can confidently judge Babel to have performed reasonably well and seen he has certain outstanding skills.

Van Basten's approach to football is too old school for its own good, he is playing the same tactics with the national team which were implemented when he was playing. Babel's trequartista role suits him well enough, but his final product still lacks at times. Every player has faults, its a given, now that he plays for Liverpool doesn't mean he is without fault.

You don't really believe that he just wants people to stand in 4-3-3 formation and hopes he gets away with it? There's much more thought and dynamic involved.
