I was introduced to Jean Luc Ponty almost twenty three years ago when a local station,WDVE had a late night fusion program the composition played was Cosmic Messager. I have enjoy his music on and off ever since. thanks for posting.
Ron Fricke cameraman for the koyaanisqatsi and anima mundi for Regio plus chronos and baraka he shot/directed Im sure parts of or all of this is from koyaanisqatsi?
this is also great Ponty- french violinist who had a sizeable jazz-fusion career as well as sideman to John Mclauglin- excellent to see again!
When I finally saw "Koyaanisqatsi" a few months ago, I knew immediately that it was the inspiration for this video. I used to watch "Night Flight" just because they would show it. I bought the album, and IMHO the rest of it is pretty lame.
The World Trade Center footage is heartrending. Who would have thought that would happen when this was filmed?
This is from the old USA Network show Radio 1990. This video was shown as Dan Ackroyd's Ghost Pick Video of the Day.
I became a HUGH JLP fan because of this single video.
The video still holds up rather well.
If my memory is correct, the same people who made this video also helped to make "Koyaanisqasti" as well. If you haven't seen that yet, I most highly recommend it.
Chicago is such a beautiful city. I love living in this area. I used to ride my bike to this.

I've seen Koyaanisqatsi probably 20 times, and none of these scenes are from that movie. Still, the style is remarkably similar.
