  • MTV FTW

  • apparently Matt didnt believe in acoustic basses....

  • 0:13 God damn those half Japanese girls..

  • Man I forgot how much I hate Matt Sharp

  • i see why they got rid of matt sharp.

  • The bass player is so hung over looking I love it.

  • dumb gook

  • Six people stayed in their hotel rooms...

  • The only reason I wear glasses today is because Weezer showed me it was cool

  • in life have no meaning the money only the feel it inside love you that's the good life for me!

  • @cablejimmy Well, you nailed it - the desperation dried up. All his dreams came true. What is there to be desperate about when you get to fall asleep on piles of money and everywhere you go everyone wants to be your friend and girls are all throwing themselves at you. Not the state he was in when this all began and the music was written accordingly.

  • @memoryhero ....solid point.

  • @memoryhero but this was written after the blue album came out. i'd say they weren't doing too badly (money wise) at the time

  • Is the kid in the hat crying at 4:01? This song almost makes me cry too, I can understand..

  • TORONTO HAS HAD IT

  • I noticed the sad little stool across from Matt. Which leads me to believe Pat was supposed to be there and got caught up in his crazy shenanigans and is probably tied up in Ms. Piggy's basement

  • love how matt just sits there and waits to sing his little part. lol What did he say ?

  • The Best album Pinkerton ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Worst host evaaa

  • The highlight of this video is Matt looking so bored.

  • 4:34, a teardrop in rivers' eyes

  • Really really really like this!! <3 <3 <3

  • It's funny/weird how at the end of the song, Rivers stares at Brian.

  • I'll say this about matt sharp. Back in the old days, he was the outspoken, zany personality that Rivers was too shy to be, so he was in a lot of interviews. Also, he did more writing than (literally) he was given credit for. He did do a lot for the band, especially behind the scenes. That all being said, him leaving and their sound changing were unrelated. Blame all the people in the 90s who dragged Pinkerton through the mud.

  • lol they are so young!

  • Thus spake the Toronto recession.

Today, every kid in that audience is either on welfare, collecting employment insurance, on drugs in their parents' basement or dead.

But the music's cool, that's all that matters.

  • lol wtf does matt say?

  • @Thelespablo No idea but I'm pretty sure that it was his only reason for being there.

  • @Thelespablo "Toronto has had it" asopposed to "I've had it" from the actual song

  • try to count how many pairs of chuck taylors you see in this video, ah the 90s

  • Im sorry but Matts bass lines on this album were great. I spent a couple of hours transcribing them. Its not the chords in the song that are hard to figure out, its the transitional notes he uses between each chord

  • @Pinkertonist, look at the YouTube video when weezer played David letterman, when Rivers had the cast, they played Say it ain't so, agreed.. Matt wasn't gods gift to bass, and I'm not even a fan of his solo stuff, but c'mon tell me Matt ain't contributing in the video!!

  • His guitar sounds flat. Either way, I just jizzed.

  • lol 1:58

  • I met rivers in 2009, he's such a great person, I'm not his biggest fan but he is the biggest influence in all my music I write

  • I love how the hostess didn't know what song they were about to play in the begining

  • I don't think that it was Matt that made the band. I think that he just kinda symbolizes the "downfall" of Weezer: after Pinkerton was smashed to pieces both critically and commercially, Rivers got depressed, isolated himself and came back with a different direction.

  • @Decemberchan well, mikey sucked, so... that kinda ruined the green album, also with scott you have at least some of the spunk that matt brought. also, really? i mean Weezer will always be weezer so, who cares who plays bass also long as rivers is singing and pats playing drums, its weezer in my book

  • Not trying to pop that statement, but we all know how much Pat's been rocking guitar recently. Josh Freese: TO HELL WITH YOU. D:

  • Comment removed

  • lol fuck matt. yeah i said it. guy gets way too much credit from the bitchy snarks. omg make believe iz da worstzestr album evaz... stfu.

  • Stop bitching and enjoy the music little bitches! =W=

  • y was pat at the hotel

  • Dude, Matt is an okay bassists, and he had some good lines, but he's so obnoxious! Even with his Vanilla Ice past, Scott is a way better fit, and he doesn't show off constantly.

  • vlozon2 is a dick

scott wasn't in thefuckin band then

    weezer never stopped being amazing

  • scott didnt change either

  • Great back vocals. I love the high pitched vocals by Matt. Also, Weezer didn't change because Matt left, Rivers changed and went pop shit on his ass.

  • that reporter is so lucky to be in front of them!

  • LOL at the blond haired dude who's like: 0_0

4:07 XD I like how Matt says "Thank you." because, yeah Matt, they are praising you for everything you contributed.

  • Matt Sharp is either wasted or hungover..

    and its hilarious

  • Is Rivers' guitar tuned differently? It definitely sounds so.

  • Yes. Every string is in drop E, I believe.

  • whats with the fake john lennon singing? lmfao

  • I love weezer so much

  • hhahahahhahahaha

  • What happened to Weezer? You could hear the desperation in his voice back then. Now his songs have no emotion. It's not even Weezer anymore.

  • @cablejimmy what album would you say they lost that, i like most songs until raditude, i only like i want you to from that album

  • @yuki97thomas Nothing compares to Blue and Pinkerton, but in my opinion, The Green Album was the last great Weezer album. Maladroit was decent, but some of the songs really shouldn't be on the album. Make Believe was good if you like extremely simple music and half-assed, meaningless lyrics. I think the Red Album was better than Make Believe, but still most of the songs are just terrible. Red and MB have a few stand-out songs. Raditude sounds like it could have been a Miley Cyrus album.

  • @Pankakke i agree with you, and speaking of miley cyrus, i heard a song from her on the radio, she can't sing for shit

  • @cablejimmy Well, one band can only churn out so many hits. Now they're just trying to make more songs to pay the bills, which is understandable.

  • @CorruptCop01 pay what bills? Pretty sure they've made enough money. The reason they don't sound like this is because Rivers isn't depressed any more.

  • @freddiegibbs101 Not exactly. He's just not a 17 year-old hopeless romantic anymore.

  • @CorruptCop01 Yes, understanding, albeit disappointing.

  • @cablejimmy As a long-time weezah fan, I still believe they are the best band. I do agree with you with the desperation in the voice back in the 90's...that was prolly my favorite part of every song! :D ...and as of today...I think the band just developed new emotions towards their songs, nothing to be disappointed about. :)

  • @cablejimmy Money and fame, Money and fame

  • @cablejimmy what the fuck are you talking about?? You dickhead. Give Coumo a break. Hes brought so many good albums out for us to enjoy and love. And all you can say is how bad he has gotten. Do you expect him to write songs a good as pinkerton when hes nearly touchiong 40. Get a fucking grip asshole. And the other guy saying money and fame. Yous really dont have a fucking clue

  • @Noeladishi Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @cablejimmy no just a devout weezer fan

  • @Noeladishi Weezer's music quality has declined. Rivers still has the skills to make good music, he just doesn't use them.

  • @cablejimmy take your head out of your ass, get off youtube, and go to one of their concerts. tell me there's no emotion there dumbfuck

  • Comment removed

  • @jakehaze3 Are you this passionate about things that actually matter?

  • @cablejimmy Yeah, Rivers got married and so now he's happy.

  • @cablejimmy what a stupid comment...

he was depressed in that time, he wont gonna be depressed all his life to make this kind of music...after all i love make believe and red album, i havent buy the other albums yet, but im pretty sure i'll love them too.

  • @cablejimmy I agree entirely. I was watching the performances from their Memories tour. Whenever he sang anything from Pinkerton, he seemed totally disconnected from the lyrics he was singing. The audience had more emotion than he did.

  • @cablejimmy He wrote Pinkerton when he was in college and much more emotional. Now Rivers is married and a father, so he probably won't be making any more emotional songs, not to say that they're bad now, just not as good as they were originally.

  • @cablejimmy btw you can tell this is from when this album came out cause matt sharp is still in the band

  • haha poor Matt, there aren't any falsetto's in this song.

  • ofbestfit1 - Have you listened to the rest of their albums? Besides matt aint shit it's Rivers that makes the band. He's like Fogerty for CCR. Writes all the songs and the band joins in. Your crazy.

  • the dude at 4:09 rocks my sox

  • Is Rivers crying at the end???

  • i loved mikey.

    matt looked like a dick

  • matt was so much better and they made the only good weezer records when he was in the band. the rest sucked.

  • Who's the snobby guy just hanging on to the micrphone?

  • Matt sharp, the original bass player for weezer

  • personaly ive never really liked matt

hes always struck me as a guy who thinks hes too good for weezer

  • @kurtcbain95 haha yea i get that vibe too

  • lol she fails hard in a couple vids

  • HAHA "No, it's the good life."

    [x

    Gotta love Rivers.

  • its funny how its a new song and people in the crowd so desperately wanna sing along but dont know how

  • I wonder why Pat was in the hotel.

  • Because it was acoustic?

  • PAT CAN PLAY GUITAR DAMMIT!

  • "I wonder why Pat was in the hotel."

he was probably makin sweet love all the night

and if weezer is touring with blink, that pisses me off, cause that means if I wanna see my favorite band, I'm gonna have to see a band I really don't like...

  • sucks to be you, because i LOVE both weezer and blink.

  • Im sure blink will grow on me by the time weezer gets to texas

  • haha, give "dude ranch" or "enema of the state" a try. I'm sure you'll find something to like.

  • matt looks a bit like john lennon in this video

  • one word..... beautiful

  • fucking amazing

  • matt sharp looks like a dick

  • Matt Sharp, the celebrated band jester, departed to leave Weezer a glib shell of its former self. This is painfully evident to any decade plus fan who tried sticking it out before the epiphany that, with the nineties, Weezer died.

  • It's very true that when Matt left, Weezer was never the same (with Rivers having the biggest change obviously), but Matt was a jerk to Rivers too. You should check out some interviews with him and Rivers and you'll see that Matt, though a great bassist, was a real asshole to Rivers and possibly the rest of the band.

  • Totally. Matt was real cocky.

Even tried to sue Weezer in 02.

  • Nah, that's just Matt. He was the zany personality, nay, the only personality in that band. This can be supported by the fact that every album post-Sharp departure is rubbish. Once a band that identified me as a person in my youth is now a band I try to forget still exists.

  • where are they now?

  • they released the red album and are touring the country!

  • well the red album is released a while ago, they are more like working on the new album now

  • new album??????????

  • about to tour in the summer with Blink 182

  • yes, check out the news, the seventh album is in work, rumors says it might be out in summer or later this year, it'll sound different but rivers will be on every song this time.

  • this is fuckin beautiful.

  • thx

  • I love this song and matt is either very tired or drunk lol

  • he was actually really bored because i heard that for some reason they wouldnt let him bring an acoustic bass onto the set...

  • drunk matt sharp equals lol

  • anyone knows that Kevin Smith and The Weezer band members are hanging out because nothing completes a Good Kevin Smith movie without Weezer. Look at Mallrats! Fucking awesome movie along with a FUCKING AWESOME BAND.

  • matt sharp looks evil

  • oh my god isn't she from Shortbus?

  • She is, yes. Saw that on an IFC documentary about 'sex in movies'.

  • i wanta stap that hoe in the heart with a wire hanger

  • O how I miss when Much Music was good and didn't sell out and become MTV Canada unofficially.

O when good music could make it on the air.. :'(

  • "No it's THe Good Life." Lol SHE SAID WRONG! KILL HEEEEEER!

  • great video, except the solo sounds like something from mario......

  • I can't think of a better compliment really..

  • look how quite everyone else is in a trance almost i love it

  • that was when weezer were the best. this is pink triangle haha. what a band.

  • rivers plays with such a passion.

  • Awesome performance! I love "NO. It's The Good Life." Frickin classic. And Matt just chillin cracks me up.

  • HA.

    "They're playing a... song. It's Pink Triangle."

    "No, it's The Good Life..."

    Biiitch.

  • what does sharp say instead of "ive had it"? i cant understand him

  • "toronto has had it"

  • I love how there's no such thig as a bad weezer song

  • I totally agree with you!

  • @martinmartin55 I know you posted that 2 years ago, but there are 10 bad songs on Raditude.

  • i love how matt is just sitting there sipping a coffee, and occasionally singing something into the mic

  • dang Rivers wipes a possible tear from his eye in this vid too! right after they end the song. he does the same in the end of the pink triangle toronto vid. true emotion in all his performances. thats a kickass rockstar for you

  • matt sharpe is just chilin hard

  • where did you get this stash of live weezer?

  • "NO, it's the good life."

Rivers I would be gay for you.

  • I know the feeling...

  • Yeah ditto O-o.

  • It's on forever up here in Canada but they are slowly but surely turning into MTV...at least they still play videos. And I am forever thankful for The Wedge.

  • wow! never realized how similar some of Rivers writing is similar to Kurt Cobain ..the verse sounds like 'do re me' ..Kurts last demo

  • haha this is hilarious, he is CHILLIN...all that's missing is someone offering Matt a neck massage, or perhaps a cold beverage!...but i like how despite these shenanigans, it still kicks ass

  • Why didn't Matt ever play an acoustic bass or something???????????

He looks like a teenager who was forced to sit through a church sermon that he didn't want to be a part of. This would have been equally as good if he wasn't there. Yeah I said it, I can't believe I said, but I did.

    ;)

  • He looks really pissed off

  • i disagree, matt's little addition and just being there is great,

just as if pat were there sittin, itd be great too

  • how come this isnt more popular then that little tramp hannah montanna what the fuck!

  • because it's far too artistic and creative for the dumb fucks of the world. music like her's is proof that kids are dumber than ever to listen and go to her concerts.

  • I fear for the future :-/

  • Its fucking pop music man. Its for those people who dont really feel music.

  • yeah... freakin hannah montanna is crap. her lyrics dont even make sense. i love weezer! =]

  • sometimes i miss how good shit like this still got paid attention to back then ...

  • this is an awesome acoustic set...

    pinkerton is the best.

    =w=

  • matt looks awfully wasted. great vid tho.

  • Yikes, the solo got away from a bit.

  • rivers corumu(sry) has an awesome valseto in this song.

  • matt is to cool for school

  • This chick is hot. I miss muchmusic.

  • you have pinkerton

  • Yes I do. MuchMusic was an awesome music channel. Its not still around is it?

  • ha! the bass player is obviously drunk and disinterested!

    haha

  • "This is 'Pink Triangle.'"

    "No, it's 'The Good Life.'"

    LOL. Tell her Rivers.

I kind of want to learn this song acoustically now, it sounds good.

  • dude matt is like a fuckin beast now

  • Matt was such a dickhead around this time. If you read the River's Edge book, there's a quote from Fat Mike (NOFX) how at a show he said "Hey those guys in Weezer are cool as shit, except that asshole bass player" hahaha.

  • that "No It's The Good Life" line is a classic.

  • hahahahah Matt Sharp ...a little boring hahaha

  • I like how even though he didn't do jack shit, Matt is the first one to say "Thank youuu!"

  • No, its the good life. LOL

  • It doesn't look like Matt had to do much, but he showed up, which is more than Pat can say.
