Times have changed - but not the Word of God! I remember going to church and seeking Christ the first time in '79. I heard "come to CHRIST for free love and forgiveness". "It's FREE!" Then when my problems weren't solved immediately ... like I was told, I was dismayed. Then I discovered the REAL Gospel. Christ wants your WHOLE life ... not to necessarily comfort you. It is war. Lastly do a word study on Call and Save - the truth is God will save those who Call upon Him because they believe. Calling in Romans 10:13 is not the sinners prayer that is barely 100 years old but a OT idea that stretches back to Genesis 4:26. Romans 10:9-13 as the basis for the sinners prayer notice some things about the text - 1. The Ot quotes - this one is from Joel 2. Do a study on the idea of Calling Upon the name of the Lord in both Old and New Testament. 3. Read verse 14 notice the order of progression. Ask yourself how is man justified? Read Romans 3 -4 do you honestly think this one verse will stand against the Hundred that clearly tell one how to be saved. Are you still Calling upon the Lord? It is a life not a 1 time act.
