  • Alex played for a class in Steeples Elementary today. He rocked. The kids truly enjoyed him and his singing partner. Thanks Alex.

  • He [alex], is freaking AWESOME! He and his mom were at this fiddley music thing in my hometown [Bowsman, MB]. They're both good!

  • Great stuff!! That is Canadian Ole Tyme Fiddling!!

  • @cbfiddler1975 He's a big fan of André Brunet. (in addition to you, of course...=)

  • what is the name of the jig?

  • @williemikel It's called Boston Life. By Frank Ferrell.

  • Is Patti on piano?

  • @jimmbo13 yep that's Patti! :)

  • Thanks for the response. I sort of study the origin of fiddle tunes and this particular set sounded very different from American styles (Appalachian , Texas, Cajun) or Celtic/Scottish. So now I need to learn about Canadian old time tunes.

  • Who is this, where is this done and what style is this? Doesn't sound celtic. It is most incredible playing!!

  • @fiddlewatcher This is Alex Lamoureux at the 2009 fiddle contest in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. It's an Canadian Old Time contest. :)

  • Anyone know the names of the songs he's playing? :)

  • @fiddlingurl First one is "Memories of Eva," composed by Alex and me (his mom, also on piano =), second is Boston Life by Frank Ferrell. Reel is a French tune called Reel Bernachez, recorded by Quebecois accordionist Frank Sears, and the last tune is "La Belle Catherine," another Quebecois tune.

  • Way 2 play Alex. Nice job.

  • Sweet job Alex! I'm bouncing in my chair here!
