For non-Africans: the Ndebele were called Matabeles (Mah Tah BEE Lees) by the English. They are the same ethnic group as the Zulus. The Shona, except for Mugabe and his thugs, are friendly people, known for being artistic and intelligent. They are like Greeks, while the Ndebeles are more like Germans or Vikings. Mugabes thugs killed the Ndebeles and threw them down mine shafts but the smell gave it away. The world doesn't care and "The White Man's Burden" is gone, assuming it ever existed.

I wrote how the ENGLISH pronounced the name of the Ndebele people. I didn't say it was the RIGHT way. In any case, mispronouncing their name seems less of an insult than killing them and throwing their bodies down mine shafts. Mugabe has killed more Africans than Smith ever dreamed of. Go ahead and write that Ian Douglas Smith was "Scotch" ancestry and let's call it even!

Of course, the proper word is "Scottish".

I agree! I wanted to point out that the war did get nasty near the end... but even if you add up all the Africans killed in that war, and even if you attribute those deaths to IDS, that number does not approach the number Mugabe and his thugs have killed!
