Thanks for sharing this footage. That HAD to be Tommy Bond sitting beside Carl Switzer in the back of the car. How great to see video clips such as this. Thanks again for sharing this with everyone.
@sierria64 Yes I know what you mean, but I don't think think he minded it as much as the media said. After all, he always remanded being called "Alfie" by all of his friends & family, even himself. He'd always sign "Alfalfa" along with his letters and signatures. He certainly was proud of it, and it wasn't like he wanted to hide it away completely, but I imagine it may have been frustrating auditioning for more serious roles. I truly believe he could have done so much more had he not been killed
The Little Rascals were the most precious and truly American.....and Carl...was always one of my favourites.....and I just think what a horrible way to pass away over a dog and fifty dollars...his talent was much more than that...he was priceless...Thank you for all the smiles you brought all of us...
Alfalfa Is my favorite rascal...really sucks that he died over ...50 dollars...i wish i can go back in time n give him 100..rip alfalfa..one day ill visit you budy
@dindints I totally agree. I hope to see Alfie in heaven one day. For now I like remember him by pencil sketching him and some of you know I'm writing him kind of a cheesy fanfiction about what might have been.
harold got in to a fight will a customer and killed him then he didnt know what to do then he killed/ himself i cryed when i read this and carls death to :'( im the biggest fan of carls and harolds and the our gang shorts i have almost all the our gang shorts on dvd and i have the book the life and times of our gang i love the book
does anyone know about harold carls bro i no he committed suicide but like after our gang what happed to him and was carl real close to harold they had the same smile they almost look like twins and super cute and when they got older they were sexy both hotties
@HarleyQuinn81290 In later years Harold worked for a service that installed Washer & Dryers. Carl & Harold were really close. Harold always looked out for his baby brother, he was very protective...the family was never the same when Carl was killed....I think the mixture between losing his father, and his brother lead to such an early death for him. Lots of sadness and pain. Carl's mother had to live to see it all....all of her children go before her.
MandyRascal, nice tattoo...I've always been kinda undecided if I want to scar my body for life, but if I were to get one I would get a dedication to Alfie too! But I would get his own little symbol on my ankle or maybe his name somewhere too, I'm doing it someday for sure though!:)
You seem to know alot about Carl, but did you know that a very long distance relative of his is alive today?! He's my favorite pitcher in baseball, Carl Pavolo!:)
@crazy4fray His grandparents taught him all of the songs he would have to sing for Our Gang, and according to carl's niece, Judiann, his brother Harold kept him in line, and made sure that he knew what to sing. He was always looking out for him.
@spareaxe He was shot to death on the evening of January, 1959, over a disagreement on a 50 dollar debt over a hunting dog that ran away. A man found and returned the dog to Carl, and he bought the man a round of drinks at the bar he worked at using the reward money. He went to his friend/hunting partners house 'demanding' the 50 dollars he thought was owed to him. Stiltz, the man who shot him, didn't agree...things went bad...stiltz brought out a gun...Carl fought for control...got shot. :\
@MandyRascal He and Jack Piott were out drinking when they decided to go out to Stiltz place, which was actually Crash Corrigan's place, Corrigan's wife still lived there and was shacking up with Stiltz. According to Tommy Corrigan, the son of the stuntman Crash Corrigan, who was there that night, Switzer and Piott show up at the door rather jovial for being drunk . Young Tommy let them in. Switzer tells Stiltz that he wants the $50, and argument starts.
Stiltz goes into the bedroom and Switzer follows him. Stiltz gets a gun out from the drawer and they struggle with it, the gun goes off a couple times, into the ceiling and one grazed young Tommy in the arm. Switzer get's possession of the gun and places it on top of the dresser and say's he's had enough because of what happened to Tommy. Arguing started up again and fist were flying. Piott grabbed a dome clock sitting on a table and broke it over Stiltz head.
Stiltz gets up and goes back into the bedroom to retrieve the gun. He comes out and shoots Switzer in the lower abdomen, Carl slinks to the floor. The ambulance arrives and he dies on the way to the hospital. During the following weeks after murder and arrest of Stiltz, the judge tells Piott to leave town and Stiltz get's off for justifiable homicide. He claimed Switzer threw a knife. A pen knife was found beside Switzers body.
Some questions remain and this case needs to be reopened. Tommy Bond went to Switzers funeral and Fred Switzer, Carl's father, told Tommy that it was Stiltz who tried to kill him the year before when Carl got shot while in the parking lot of his job. Mr. Switzer and Tommy Bond believed that Carl was unarmed at the time Stiltz killed him. Newspaper reports from the time contradict each other with the events of that night. Sorry if I took up a lot of space, I just wanted to add what I knew.
@PinkprincessPOP LOL. Nooo. Alfie was always my crush. :P When I look at him I don't think he looks like anyone, but I was *reminded of Kramer just once. xD
No gee... I thought you were the only one viewing YouTube nowadays. If you didn't want comments just turn that function off. I'm sorry to have made the comment now. I just thought some readers might like that little tidbit.
@dogface325 OH, come on! I was just playing with you..Should i have added a smiley face or something? Sorry if you took it the wrong way, no need to throw sarcasm in the mix.
@crazy4fray Hmmm. I would definitely have to say The Gas House Kids series. Not so much the first one, but Gas House Kids Go West, and Hollywood he's in throughout the whole movie. Some other ones that he's in a fair amount is The Great Mike (1944) Redwood Forest Trail (1950) & Henry & Dizzy (1942) --Hope this helps!
@crazy4fray It has never been released officially on DVD, since it's so rare and hard to find... This 1 copy that took me a few years to track down. D:
