That's why when you street race you go to the planned derbies such as the ones they hold yearly in San Diego. Illegal street racing IS stupid... Totally know how this feels. I wasnt street racing, but i use to street race alot. I was driving bymyself and some asshole pulled out from a stop sign when he couldnt see shit and I was speeding and smoked him just like that. Changed my life to.. I am so cautious when i drive now, just because there are so many fuckin stupid and bad drivers out there that it becomes unpredictable. Street racing should be done way outside the city though.. where there are no turn offs for other cars.

Guy in the mustang had plenty of time to slow down. If you wouldn't have been recording this you probably wouldn't have had evidence against you. The accident didn't happen because you were racing, it happened because the dip shit in the Mustang didn't attempt to stop and you didn't see the other car until it was too late.

Can anyone tell me why someone was in the middle of the intersection when the people filming had a green light? This does not make the race legal but I'm just saying.... I bet it was an old person that should of had their license taken from them years before this happen. Every time I almost get clipped or cut off its most of the time an old person!
@dakoffran The racers had a lot of traffic and trees to their left, so it looks like the Vic already started a left turn before it was even possible to see them. Speed limits mostly exist to control the flow of traffic to lower the odds of this very thing from happening, so I'm hardly surprised the racers got hammered for this while the people in the Vic didn't get charged with anything. Quite frankly, the authorities that most people on here seem to hate got it 100% right.

Really the only time i do street race is on County Highways, or streets with no traffic and no pedestrians.. Like on the weekends, i wont run if people are standing on the side of the road, the need to get atleast 20 if not more feet away from the street.

I was in a simular accident years ago. and i wasnt racing, traveling no more than say 40 mph. and like the guy (i wont call him an idiot) in the crown vic, an elderly couple traveling the opposited direction attempting to make a left turn pass my lane didnt 'yeld' to the oncoming traffic - ME- which resulted in a front end grazed collision like these vehicle. The problem is people forget to Yield to oncoming traffic as the oncoming traffic has the rite of way. i had a green light to boot

@Olemwrongway Actually, if you look at one of the recent Motortrend magazines, it puts the 2010 Porsche 911 turbo AWD against the ZR1, and the ZR1 outhandles it everywhere. On the Nürburgring track in Germany, there are only 11 production vehicles that have performed better than the ZR1. I'm not saying that Euro cars aren't good, just that you are underestimating the ZR1 and American potential.
@sk8rax350 Correct... The ZR1, or "Project Blue Devil" as I knew it before it made production, is an absolute beast and people don't realize that it's been in development and testing for years... There's virtually nothing in existence that can match its performance for the pricetag on it.

First Off vid starts saying street racing; Second clue is the speed on a 3 lanes hwy; Third is the Crown Vic was following the car that turned R and prob never saw the 'Stang or (losing) Camero. I used to be a stree racer just like many of you. I T boned a car and totaled my brand new car when I was 16 because I did not pay attention and missed a stop sign. I learned the proper way of racing and driving fast with racing schools and books. I competed in SOLO and various Kart events. I was a avid street racer before too. I know what you guys are saying, but once you mature up you'll see my point of view.
Ok, I may have given the Camaro too much credit for the stopping distance. But c'com....5 seconds worth of time to react and there was zero from the video. one one thousan, two one thousand, three one thousand, four one thousand, five one thousand.....that was eternity. The point is if you are aware of your surroundings when racing like moreach13 said, then the damage or accident WILL be minimised or avoided.
That was not street racing... if you actually did time for that I'd be in search of a better attorney... Some of these comments are just ignorant, street racing in a residential is dumb sure... but this was just some horrible luck.
When street racing OR any racing, you have to develop total, panoramic, hyper-awareness of your surroundings. Really. Also use ALL your senses. No headphones, nothing to distract. Always keep an eye out for an escape route or at least a softer landing. I think, like the camera, you were too focused on the Mustang.
Ok, for all of you who feel is can't be avoided just follow me here. I see the Crown Vic at about 0:17 and the collision at about 0:22. That is about 5 seconds worth of time to react to that car coming into traffic. I did not see any attemp to steer or brake during this period of time. Even doing 100 mph, the Camaro is more then capable of stopping within 130 feet or so. I see a lot of immaturity in e responses. Why depend on an "idiot" to avoid hitting you. Take the initiative to avoid the "
@itsmekheyko Better research your stopping distances. Google "ratio of speed to stopping distance". Reaction time alone is 132 feet of travel @ 60 mph, never mind the 171 foot average stopping distance for a vehicle at that speed.
The brown car's fault, he shouldn't have gone. I cross a 6 lane road everyday. I haven't crashed because I wait til it's clear. I don't hope and hit the gas. The impatient get in accidents. The brown car should've waited, regardless of the other car's speed. Always expect the traffic you're crossing is speeding, it'll save you from being in an accident. The guy in front should've waited, he barely missed being hit, also. Be patient, the risk isn't worth it, just to get home earlier by 30 seconds

The accident didn't happen because you were racing, it happened because the dip shit in the Mustang didn't attempt to stop and you didn't see the other car until it was too late.

@dakoffran The racers had a lot of traffic and trees to their left, so it looks like the Vic already started a left turn before it was even possible to see them. Speed limits mostly exist to control the flow of traffic to lower the odds of this very thing from happening, so I'm hardly surprised the racers got hammered for this while the people in the Vic didn't get charged with anything. Quite frankly, the authorities that most people on here seem to hate got it 100% right.

Really the only time i do street race is on County Highways, or streets with no traffic and no pedestrians.. Like on the weekends, i wont run if people are standing on the side of the road, the need to get atleast 20 if not more feet away from the street.

I was in a simular accident years ago. and i wasnt racing, traveling no more than say 40 mph. and like the guy (i wont call him an idiot) in the crown vic, an elderly couple traveling the opposited direction attempting to make a left turn pass my lane didnt 'yeld' to the oncoming traffic - ME- which resulted in a front end grazed collision like these vehicle. The problem is people forget to Yield to oncoming traffic as the oncoming traffic has the rite of way. i had a green light to boot

@Olemwrongway Actually, if you look at one of the recent Motortrend magazines, it puts the 2010 Porsche 911 turbo AWD against the ZR1, and the ZR1 outhandles it everywhere. On the Nürburgring track in Germany, there are only 11 production vehicles that have performed better than the ZR1. I'm not saying that Euro cars aren't good, just that you are underestimating the ZR1 and American potential.

@sk8rax350 Correct... The ZR1, or "Project Blue Devil" as I knew it before it made production, is an absolute beast and people don't realize that it's been in development and testing for years... There's virtually nothing in existence that can match its performance for the pricetag on it.
And I've got no problem with Porsche, though I do think that even the high-end 911's are slightly underpowered for their category, but I agree with Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear..."laziest design studio ever"

Granted, I probably wouldn't have kicked it on a busy street like that one, but the coffin dodger in crown Vic shouldn't have been where he was. End of story. Doesn't matter if you were doing 150mph racing, or 55mph cruising the speed limit, if papaw pulled out in to on coming traffic like that, the accident was in avoidable.

First Off vid starts saying street racing; Second clue is the speed on a 3 lanes hwy; Third is the Crown Vic was following the car that turned R and prob never saw the 'Stang or (losing) Camero. I used to be a stree racer just like many of you. I T boned a car and totaled my brand new car when I was 16 because I did not pay attention and missed a stop sign. I learned the proper way of racing and driving fast with racing schools and books. I competed in SOLO and various Kart events. I was a avid street racer before too. But c'com....5 seconds worth of time to react and there was zero from the video. one one thousan, two one thousand, three one thousand, four one thousand, five one thousand.....that was eternity. When street racing OR any racing, you have to develop total, panoramic, hyper-awareness of your surroundings. Really. Also use ALL your senses. No headphones, nothing to distract. Always keep an eye out for an escape route or at least a softer landing. I think, like the camera, you were too focused on the Mustang.

Ok, for all of you who feel is can't be avoided just follow me here. I see the Crown Vic at about 0:17 and the collision at about 0:22. That is about 5 seconds worth of time to react to that car coming into traffic. I did not see any attemp to steer or brake during this period of time. Even doing 100 mph, the Camaro is more then capable of stopping within 130 feet or so. I see a lot of immaturity in e responses. Why depend on an "idiot" to avoid hitting you. The brown car's fault, he shouldn't have gone. I cross a 6 lane road everyday. I haven't crashed because I wait til it's clear. I don't hope and hit the gas. The impatient get in accidents. The brown car should've waited, regardless of the other car's speed. Always expect the traffic you're crossing is speeding, it'll save you from being in an accident. The guy in front should've waited, he barely missed being hit, also. Be patient, the risk isn't worth it, just to get home earlier by 30 seconds
