@SupremeCommander. I just finished playing an intense 5v5 game just 10 minutes ago. The action is on the DIPLOMACY expansion, which is a separate server from the Regular/Entrenchment server. You won't see the Diplomacy players if you log on with Regular or Entrenchment.
If anyone has a Steam account and they're interested in Sins online multiplayer, please join the Sins group, "Sins Online". I'm hoping to get a Sins community going on Steam.
Online is pretty much dead for this game, you will be lucky to find 1 person to play with, nobody is ever online. You can find more people to play with over hamachi then in the actual multiplayer for this game, that's sad.
99% of all Sins players don't realize that Sins is even better in online multiplayer against human opponents ("the real Sins game"). The AI does some pretty silly and suicidal things, so isn't a very good opponent.
Team games, 4v4 and 5v5, with all human players are much more challenging, more intense, more suspenseful, more interesting, more strategically involved, more satisfying, and more fun.
So, if you have the Diplomacy expansion, definitely log onto Ironclad Online and check it out.
I would go online but sadly there is usually not more than 1 person to play with, sins online is a shadow of what it once was. I remember when the game first came out and there were like 200 people online, getting in a group of 8 people for a massive war was easy, now everything has gone to shit. Multiplayer is dead and I imagine when rebellion comes out it will fill up again, but inevitably 4 months later that to will die. There is no good support for these RTSs any more.
just bought it it's awesome. got annoyed by the constant pirate attacks though. maybe I'm gonna turn that off the next time. I was just reading through all those tech options and other stuff. It's very nice that your fleets acquire enemies themselves and the left-hand empire menu really helps managing many planets at the same time. I could not imagine playing like that on a huge scale like in MOO2 or GalCiv2 with hundreds of planets, though.
@Isengardelfo It doesn't need one. The game leaves everthing open to you as you play it doesn't hold your hand through a campaign. It's just you a massive galaxy and weeks of play to finish each map. Good times.
It is a great game but the review is right the game can last for several hours and this can be annoying if your losing that you have to continue a losing game for several hours. This game is pretty hardcore in terms of player commitment but you get mid game saves anyway.
Definitely in my top 5. I LOVED my epic battle against a pirate base. HUGE ass fleet against ANOTHER HUGE ass fleet, backed up by my allies HUGE ass fleet..enough said.
This game was perfect for me. I found my self going at a Turn based pace in RTS games. Yet turn based games were a bit to slow for me. So this game is a perfect blend for my tastes.
that was uncalled for, nobody has to use the proper grammar on the internet if they dont want to, its called freedom, just because its easier for you to unerstand does not mean they have to. and wat compared to what isnt that big of a deal, its people that incorperate letters and remove 4-5 letters from some words when it should piss you off... the guy was just asking a question
The thing is, saying "wat,, r, 4, u" and stuff like that just makes you look retarded and absolutley illegible. I don't expect people to have perfect typing, yours is fine for example, but still like that is just stupid.
I'm surprised that the fact the game being moddable hasn't been mentioned. i think it's a very good game as it stands but things like additional races, ships, planet types, gfx and sounds etc. have and are being added by the community.
Stardock are also supporting through patches and there is an expansion called Entrenchment in the offing.
I still rest on the idea that this game would be greatly improved by allowing unit creation and faction creation. The factions have minute differences.
dude you really suck balls you know that! this game rocks, the graphics are fine and you dont need a storyline for a game of this standerd. soase is revelutionary for what the game can do!

The graphics on this game suck. I bought this game because I loved Homeworld, and Imperium Galactica. No story, to long to learn, and repetitive. I got bored with it in the first half hour. I understand that play mode is the most important, but there is no excuse for the graphics that are on par with the games made 10 to 15 years ago. People giving this unpolished game 5 stars obviously have low expectations. Forget about multiplayer, nobody has the time to play a game that lasts all day.
The only problem with this game is that it is slow. For impatiant ppl that is a problem. I however have patience and don't mind playing 1h-2h online matches.
Heck on a lan with my friends i'm playing a map with over 100 planets. I've been playing for a week (about 1h-30m at a time) and its not over yet.
If you want to blame something, blame it for being slow.
Thank you for an excellent review. Years ago I picked up "Rebellion", which used the same concept as "Sins" but was set in the world of Star Wars. The learning curve was so steep (and the game's manual was so poorly written) that I finally gave up on it. "Sins" looks like an awesome game but it looks really complex. Does the game have a tutorial/learn mode? Thank for any info you can provide! :)
What this game needs is a story mode. It would be cool to see the forming of the TEC and the ear between the TEC and the Visari. It would ascend an almost flawless game to outright godliness.
your such an idiot! of corse there is no cover its space!you asshole the only cover yu will get is behind a astroid or planet. by the by this game is the best!xD:)

Fights seem boring, no valley or hills or anything else to use as cover, not the tactics based on whether you use land, air and water, it's all one open space and just blasting in my opinion.
i agree well i think halo and homeworld 2 got it slightly better but i reckon thats largely cause of the varietty of tracks,,,this game only has a few :( it gets boring after a lil
