Nomatter what, there seems to be more freedom in the US system than any other system (particualrly when compared to the Arab countries). If power, influence and money are the result then so be it. It seems that you are comparing the US against Utopia. Compare them to France (and their foreign policies) and Russia et al and look at the results.
No offence but canada has quite a bit more freedom then the US (currently). Prior to ww2 the us had all the rights and freedom it currently doesn't enjoy, but yet it's foreign policy was not near as far reaching or abusive as it is now.
I think you are confusing two things. I am talking about democracy. Freedom is another thing. The Dutch have more freedom than anyone but I don't want to live there. Example: Illinois recently voted down (the people actually got to vote on this) affirmative action. When was the last time Canada or any other province allowed you to vote on any issue like that?
I think we both may be confused. Most people think that there foreign policy has something to do with their own freedom. If it was a referendum item it could be voted on. I have never seen it as an issue, or heard anyone ever say anything bad about it.
Because it also means freedom for the terrorists as well, which makes it easier for them to conduct their business. I think the US is looking for a balance here. If South Koreans were blowing up buildings and airplanes (we have the same arguments as the terrorists), I would expect to be looked upon suspiciously and/or checked at the airports.

First of all, there is no country called 'Holland'.
Second: The Netherlands were amongst the countries that wanted a sentence about their judeo-christian tradition in the EU-constitution, so O'Reilly is wrong.
Third: The Netherlands is becoming more like the US every year. We even have Valentine's Day now!
Fourth: O'Reilly is a pathetic moron.

Here are some things that made our country great: The Constitution, Equality, A secular government that didn't impose any one religious point of view on its citizens, no taxation without representation, a silver standard, ownership of our own labor, the ability for the government to print its own money without charging itself interest, and freedom from fascist blowhards with agendas that read like Orwell on a despair binge.

may i just ask why for o'reilly? i watch his show from time to time and i think he occasionally brings up a good point but always goes way overboard with everything, can u tell me why u support him? (i'm not trying to b offensive i just like seeing both sides to every story)

I would love to answer that question. I support him because I believe in his philosophy of America and the world. I think we are a nobel country, that has helped free MILLIONS of people in this world. I believe in the Judeo-Christian values that this country was founded on and think they are attacked every single day. I also like to hear both sides of each issue, however, I have choosen my side. I am an Irish canadian raised catholic. At heart I still believe in the judeo-christian values... however it should have nothing to do with politics. Mixing religion and politics is dangerous. America was founded on escaping religous persecution. I think choosing a side is wrong.

Hey good catch. I am a Korean Canadian living in Illinois. I agree that religion and politics should not mix but we must live in the real world. American was not founded on escaping religious persecution but it was founded on escaping economic persecution.

I agree completely... the US can be a shining star for democracy and trade. However the whole "industrial military complex", and it's corresponding foreign policy has to go. I on the other hand don't mind paying extra tax in canada, but I do care that it's squandered by inefficient govt

I also don't mind paying taxes as I feel it is needed. I would gladly pay a little more taxes for all children under 18 to get healthcare in the US. I just find it funny that Canada can be so righteous while living beside the guy with the larges house on the block. I also don't see anything wrong with a country looking out for their own best interest.

I agree, but it shoud be called out as that. US foreign policy is about power, and money...not freedom. Involvement in the middle east is just reducing security for the US, and for Canada. I don't think canada is being riteous...more like rational. We have some issues we have to take care of also.

Nomatter what, there seems to be more freedom in the US system than any other system (particualrly when compared to the Arab countries). If power, influence and money are the result then so be it. It seems that you are comparing the US against Utopia. Compare them to France (and their foreign policies) and Russia et al and look at the results.

No offence but canada has quite a bit more freedom then the US (currently). Prior to ww2 the us had all the rights and freedom it currently doesn't enjoy, but yet it's foreign policy was not near as far reaching or abusive as it is now.

I think you are confusing two things. I am talking about democracy. Freedom is another thing. The Dutch have more freedom than anyone but I don't want to live there. Example: Illinois recently voted down (the people actually got to vote on this) affirmative action. When was the last time Canada or any other province allowed you to vote on any issue like that?

I think we both may be confused. Most people think that there foreign policy has something to do with their own freedom. If it was a referendum item it could be voted on. I have never seen it as an issue, or heard anyone ever say anything bad about it.

Because it also means freedom for the terrorists as well, which makes it easier for them to conduct their business. I think the US is looking for a balance here. If South Koreans were blowing up buildings and airplanes (we have the same arguments as the terrorists), I would expect to be looked upon suspiciously and/or checked at the airports.
I am a Buddhist. I just wonder what would happen if South Korea blew up historic statues.

Giving up freedom is what the terrorists want. When did racial profiling stop a terrorist plot? I think passport profiling, and watchlists are just common sense. Racial profiling has led to some horrible injustice (like japanese internment). I use to have problems traveling. My parents are from Ireland, and my dad did the books for sinn fein in dublin during 50's. I didn't like it, but it I could understand it.

You know what the terrorists want. They don't give a sh#* about our freedom. Profiling just stopped a plot in London England. I don't have a problem with passport profiling. Unfortunately, passports can be forged and/or altered. It is more difficult to alter one's race.
