  • Thank you very much for this video and part 1, they are the most helpful 'learn to bow' videos i've come across, and ive been looking for a long time! Thank you x

  • How would you teach a horse how to bow when you are in the saddle. That is what I would likw to learn.

  • Heeyyy.. I was wondering if there's a way you can make a horse bow while riding it? C:

Nice video, and cute horse. I love his facial marking. Super cute. Cx

  • great vid

  • this is cool but what do you do if your horse just backs up to get the treat??

  • i have one more question, when you make him bow do you take the foot and push him down, do you applie pressure? I hope my question is clear ;)

  • OK, ill send a video but this will take time cause he's going away for a few weeks, ill tell you when im finished, thanks soo much =)

    Tena & Red

  • O oops, I asked a question on the bow 101 (the first video...) I really need youre help Red is really impatient and doesn't get it, im trying to teach him its been two months and is it ok to do it in a small box? and he doesn't understand

  • That is okay, I recieved both. :) Would you be able to video your efforts and send it to me? From what you describe he feels uncomfortable with what you are asking. If you train him in a small box this will make him feel more pressure. Giving up two legs and planting your face in the dirt is a big trust thing that our horses do when they bow. So I would try to establish more trust and video tape him so I can give you help custom to Red's behavior. :-)

  • Wow! This is so great. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I have an eight-years-old gelding Friesian and I would love to teach him this.

The only problem with him is that when I tried to teach him new tricks, he's being so impatient with me, like he will try to get my treat from my hand and his ears fall backward.

He knows how to do Spamish greeting now but I'll definitely try this trick! :)

  • thankyou so much for this :)

it helped so so so much!!

  • well, probably i could ask my mom (she has a video camera) i could do that part but i dont know how to send it to u or to pull it up on the computer... :(

  • hey um im tryig to to teach my horse to bow. hes puttng his head down but he dosent bend his back. what did i do wrong?

  • hmmm. Is there anyway you can have it recorded and send me the link to it? This way I can see exactly what is happening and offer better advice. :)

  • no, I would not have taught this to him if it were to cause him mental or physical harm.

  • does this hurt the poor horse

  • Thanks to you I am confident in trying the bow with my horse Hunter. You have answered all my questions, except one:

What stains or mucules are the horses using, it must not be that bad cause the horses that have never done it before don't seem to struggle to much. Just woundering if you have had any physical problems happen, to the back or knees of the horses/or pony? (People are starting to ask me when they see me doing it!)

I hope I have as much fun bowing as you do with Patch!

    :D

  • It all vairies depending on the horse. Some horses have issues getting full extention which means they must be stretched before expected to have a full bow. Other's can go right down with no issue. :) They use their back/neck muscles (stretching them), their legs for support and extension and finally their core to keep locked and still in that position. :) does that answer your question?

  • your too cool thanks kid

  • :D Anytime. :)

  • Once LILY's better (well she is but..) will u help me teach her??

  • Patchy eye ball! Hehehe

    Great video =]

  • I had to be random for just a lil bit. :)

  • yeah I'll have to just work on stretching his legs I guess, when I put the treat between his legs and just make him reach for it he bends his legs or backs up! lol

  • lol. yeah stretching is definately the key to bowing. Kinda like splits for us. We need to stretch before doing it. Not unless we are five years old and can roll ourselves up in a duffle bag and be shipped to peru. ;]
