this kid is good at piano for someone with asperger's. he should keep playing. in a few years, he'll be really good if he keeps playing the way he does, if he keeps playing. keep it up!
my brother has asbergers. When he was 17 one day my mother came home (he had never really played piano) and he was playing a full beethoven sonata. She said she walked in from shopping and thought, "I dont remember having that CD" before she saw that he was playing. He said, "Mom, its just math..." exasperatingly after she started bawling. LOL.
aspergers is mostly only bad at social issues. it can have its good side too. einstein, mozart, beethoven, tesla, edison, michael angelo, davinci, plato, archimedes, socrates, shakespeare, spielberg, bill gates, isaac newton, paul erdos and many others are said to have it. there are even political people who are said to have or have had it such as hitler, stalin, napoleon, lenin, lincoln, adams washington, jefferson, fidel castro, kim jong il, mao zedong etc
I thought it was going to be a ruse, that he would play slowly at first just to trick as all and that any second he was going to burst into full speed and flawless complex piano pieces.
Crippling? Are you kidding? I wouldn't trade Asperger's away, even though it has made it harder to live in a world full of NT hypocrites and uncritical thinkers. It has gifts to bestow too, and I for one wouldn't be any other person. Nor would my family.
It IS very crippling to many. I have a brother, now 48, who was recently diagnosed with AS. But he 'slipped thru the cracks', having grown up in the 70's and 80's, where docs didn't know anything about this, and put kids like him on drugs like Haldol. He has never been able to hold a job or have a relationship. Now my 4 year old daughter has this, but she is getting a ton of help. So we hope she grows up to be able to 'function' in society. Behavior/coping varies with AS.
Hey, George. You're very good at counting each second and each note in your head, aren't you? I have Asperger's, too, and that's how I did it when I used to take band class. Don't ever let the people around you bring you down. Cheerio.
