the chance for getting a plant depends on the density, if the density is set to low you will have trouble painting on stuff because the chance it will place an object is to low.
Just use 1 for the density and it will paint everywhere you click.
you can paint deco layers on a hill and still have them go straight up. You have to change properties of deco layers. You could do this in UT2004. Check the 3d buzz site.
Yea I remember when you could do that in UT2004 . But for some odd reason in the new editor all and i mean all the deco layers get highlighted at once when you highlight just one . Check it out . Thanks

its pretty simple, just go into the terrain properties, open up the decolayer and go down to the deco you want to match the slope:
go down to SLOPEROTATIONBLEND
Set it to 1 and the grass will allways match the rotation to the slope its on.
(set it between 0 and 1 and you'll get a blend between straight and completely sloped.
