  • I remember *exactly* where I was and how struck I was when I heard the slow part beginning at 4:27 here - one of the few moments in life I'll never forget. A great tune I thought and then BAM! breathtaking beauty. Only Mozart can stop me dead in my tracks and make me use so much Kleenex!! If only he'd lived until even 60 instead of 35.

  • Wonderful performance. Only I'm not fond of the use of some sort of cross for the golden padlock on his mouth, which is a symbol of female masonry, and of some significance.

  • any time more than one character is singing in this opera, it's the most gorgeous, effervescent music! and then there's also a plethora of times when the arias r beyond reproach! the opera is tremendous!!!!!

  • This If from a performance at the Metropolitan opera I am not sure what year but i do know its available on DVD

  • Thata correct it is from the met 1991 with kathleen battle.

    papageno is kurt moll he is also on dvd as papageno in a german production from the mid eighties.
