@fluffypigeonpony hahah oh cmon now, read the comment response below thats not all i came up with lol. ive watched the series 4 times through, best show of all time hands down
@nickmanning4prez lol xD too funny man! Season 1 is classic and definately has a different feel than the other seasons. My fav eps usually are the ones centered around Christopher, before hes made and after hes made.Just him trying to make his bones and then realizing when hes made, its not all thats its cracked up to be lol.I like the time hes playing pool with Paulie and wins but Paulie is being a dick about it then asks if hes wearing a wire lol.If looks could kill xD
Barese actually hates Richie's guts. All the way thru this scene he's mocking Richie, but he does it in a way that Richie is never sure and can't really take offense. Masterful!
@marc80s makes sense, but never thought of it like that, always thought Albert was just sort of quirky character sort of like Jimmy "two times" from Goodfellas
Not necessarily. The Albert Barese character was well known for having this strange, comical way of talking where he would always repeat things people say. This can also be seen in later episodes. Also in the episode where Silvio and Paulie have an argument about earnings, Silvio mentions Albert had been earning a lot, and Paulie says "F*** that f****** parakeet". LOL
The scene after this, when Richie tells Junior that Albert is "out" is one of the best Junior scenes in the show. After Richie leaves Junior makes a decision on the spot to side with Tony instead of Richie. Check it out on the side bar "Richie moves on Tony/Bobby in awe"
@tthomaselli2 it's a habit, one that's actually quite difficult to stop doing. I have a habit of repeating people. Everyone I know thought there was something wrong with me, but it turns out I had a photographic memory that I didn't know about lol. I found out that's actually fairly common in people who repeat word for word. It looks like Albert is taking the piss, but he really isn't. As Paulie said " He's a parrakeet ".
@relmmih6 it's called something like a verbatim slur, or something like that. I still do it to this day. The only time when i really had to try and stop was when i was in the foreign legion.
@cozstuart just to confirm...you think albert is doing that out of some habit stemming from a potential photographic memory...lol come on...he's being deliberately slippery...he can never get in trouble for his comments if he remains neutral and merely repeats shit...he is going out of his way to not take richie's side while also avoiding any conveyance of his own feelings...
@MurphGiovanni that's not what I said, pay attention. I'm drawing from my own experience of having a verbatim slur, which as it happens, was the result of my photographic memory.
@cozstuart LOL you directly stated that albert did this out of habit, not to "take the piss" out of rich...those are your words...you w/ me so far, moron? then you bring up your personal experience w/ repeating people b/c of a photographic memory...the inference is there...lol you got confused by your own line of reasoning b/c you were too focused on impressing people w/ your bullshit claim to have a photographic memory...lol yeah, right...your stupidity is overwhelming, buddy, WOW
Richie was too much of a sociopath to be a good negotiator. To motivate people you have to see what's in it for them. Richie could only see what he wanted.

@PremiumNetwork i dont think phil was a psychopath. psychopath makes me think raging lunatic. phil came across like more of an old fashioned hard man. a real tough breed. we never really seen him burst out into a crazy fit of rage or anything like we did with richie and to a lesser degree ralph.
@samdogmc12 Well, he did sort of lost it when his brother got killed...but I guess that's more or less expected. Plus, Phil was older. People tend to mellow as they age. Even sociopaths lol.
@PremiumNetwork yeah if ralph wasnt in the mob he still would have been a big time criminal. he was crazy enough to be a one man band. richie seemed more hardened from prison than anything.
Like Junior said, Ritchie isnt respected. The reason is his terrible temper and un-stableness. No way Albert could throw in with Ritchie, whereas Albert knew that Tony is a stable boss. Albert made the right choice.
And remember, Albert is just acting boss of "the largest crew" while his nephew Larry-boy is in the can. I'm not sure Albert would have the authority to pop Tony without Larrys permission.
@calimar28 Albert definatley didnt have the approval of poppin' Tony with Larrys blessing even. Thats not something Larry had the authority to ok. They were just gonna grab their balls and take out Tony w/o the proper permission. They would have had to get the ok from the other bosses of the other families, which would have never happened. Tony was the BOSS of a family.
Albert was very stupid to refuse Richie's proposal to move against Tony, because if he had supported Richie then Uncle Junior would have authorized Richie to have Tony whacked along with Christopher and Paulie, Silvio would be told to fall into line, but his way Richie and Uncle Junior would take over the family and run things with Larry and Albert backing them up, Ralph would probably come down from Miami and run Tony's old crew and Jackie Jr would be allowed to earn under Richie's protection.
@riddick7819 So you think that Junior(who is on the verge of losing whatever marbles he has), Richie(a freakin hothead nutcase who has been gone for 10yrs & clearly is just a goon, not a businessman), two-talkin parakeet albert, drug and whore addicted ralphie, would run the family better than tony, paulie, chrissy, sil?Interesting. everyone involved are all nutcases and have issues but i think jr, ralphie, richie etc. issues are a little worse. and not 2 mention that brain dead jackie jr lol!
There is a difference between being sociopathic and psychopathic. Psychopathy is genetic; a person has a natural inclination towards violence, sadism and is incapable of feelings love or empathy. Sociopathy is a result of nurture and environment; people become hardened or conditioned to accept violence (mobsters, military men etc). A sociopath can still feel to a certain extent, but a psychopath is genetically geared towards not feeling, and this is apparent from infancy and a young age.
@PremiumNetwork Like I said, Tony definitely has some psychopathic characteristics. He is paranoid, he kills, enjoys violence, lacks conscience, etc. Maybe Tony is a psychopath that's cursed with just enough self awareness to wish things were different.
@PremiumNetwork Not in my opinion. Carmela was just as manipulative and shallow as the rest. Remember how she acted like she had huge moral misgivings about Tony's business? Then, she falls for Tony's most brutal soldier. Plus, she tells Tony about it just to hurt him, knowing it's a death sentence for Furio. Carmela was happy to use Tony's position and money when it suited her whims.
@jksonny There are a lot more examples of Carmela being as bad as the rest. She begged Tony numerous times to "visit" the housing inspector for her house. She knew this meant beating or bribing the man. She was Tony's #1 accomplice. Besides, Tony never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
@jksonny fuckin a! im glad to hear someone else say it! how bout the building inspector? we can only imagine what happened to him or his family as per carmellas wishes. all the while she acts like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. not to mention she more or less pulled furio's card when she told tony about their thing. plus im sure theres a million other instances that i havnt picked up on
@samdogmc12 Carmela had a lot more in common with Tony and with Tony's mother than she would ever admit. Meadow was no angel either. She almost marries a completely non-mob guy, a dentist, and when that doesn't work out, she grabs a guy with a father in Tony's crew. The women in the show are as addicted to the life as the men, which I think is one of the show's themes.
@jksonny I think you are blowing that out of proportion though. Patsy's son (Meadow's new boy friend) wasn't into the mafia, he was studying law. He was going to be a legit guy.
@ntsshap4 He wasnt a mob guy, but his dad was and im sure he understood the life quite well, like Meadow did, and probably basically condoned and defended it to any outsider. Meadow certainly wasnt in the mafia neither but her father was also and her and Patsy's kid could relate on so many levels that that queer-bait dentist Finn could never understand.
@tonypanz Finn did understand though, it was Meadow who didn't understand. Finn freaked out after he saw little Paulie get the shit kicked out of him by whats his name? When he told Meadow about it, she defended her father's friends saying that they are nice guys. It also didn't help that Vito wanted to bang Finn. I feel that we have no real proof that they related to each other through what their fathers do. All we truly know is that Meadow was "inspired" by his views on law.
@ntsshap4 I know what you're saying, Finn understood logical, "normal" way of life lol. Meadow was def brainwashed to a degree, but she was loyal to her father and would defend who they were to the death, even if she knows its wrong. Im Italian, and alot of Italians, and non-Italians actually, are taught to side with your family no matter what, whether they are wrong or right. Finn was def shook-up when Gene beat lil Paulie. There was no proof that they related through their dads but its implied
@jksonny excellent comment, one I've actually made pretty much verbatim on another vid. These women all come from Italian families-they all know exactly where all the money comes from.
@pretorious700 Even Carmela's parents are in on the hypocrisy. Her father was happy to have Tony's help getting that spec house built. And the mother showed her true colors at the party where she was so embarrassed by Tony twirling sausages. What about being embarrassed that her son-in-law is a mob boss???? She never even mentioned that bothering her.
@jksonny Yep. they're all in on the hypocrisy. That's why my favorite scene featuring Carmela is when she went to see that Jewish shrink and he didn't sugarcoat anything. He was the first guy to truly tell her how it was without having any sort of agenda.
@Antrizzle2009 Yeah that was funny. He totally told it exactly like it was without pulling any punches lol. Carmela was offended by his honesty & tried to insinuate that because the guy was Jewish that he didnt view marriage as a holy union like she does bceause she is Catholic/Italian & the Jew shrink replies that hes been married over 30yrs & she totally flips it & says "well you understand then lol". she would justify any crime Tony commits as long as she gets her allowance lol
@tonypanz Ironic how it took a shrink to tell her what the real deal was, yet the two Catholic Priests she went (the dude that wanted to bone her, as well as that foreign black guy) both tried to justify her staying married to Tony. Her hands were covered in blood just like Tony's were.
@jksonny yeah and she intimidated her neighbor's sister regarding Meadow's letter of recommendation to Georgetown. She definitely used Tony's reputation and position to get what she wanted several times in the series.
@PremiumNetwork The show needed to have a member of Tony's crew that the audience hated/mistrusted but the Richie character was too one dimensional to keep around for long. They brought in Ralph to take Richie's place and fleshed out his character to make him more interesting.
I don't consider Phil a psychopath. His violence had a purpose. There were reasons for what he did, whether you agreed with those reasons or not.
@PremiumNetwork I don't see two ambitious psychopaths getting along. Plus, if I understand the way the Sopranos family was organized, Richie would have been the captain of Ralph's crew, which would have made him Ralph's boss. Ralph desperately wanted to be a captain and would have done anything to undermine Richie (just like he did with Gigi).
@PremiumNetwork Doubtful. I assume Jackie would have protected Richie. What would have been strange is if Jackie had lived, Richie and Tony would have been equals.
@PremiumNetwork I agree, especially since Tony B. getting busted was such a traumatic event for Tony. It seems like that would have come up in therapy with all the talks about Livia.
@PremiumNetwork The idea came from Chase seeing a report on a lot of mobsters being released that had been prosecuted under RICO in the 80's.
There were a few instances where characters appeared/disappeared without prior mention or explanation. Very early on, it was explained that the actual boss of the Sopranos crew was in prison but you never heard about that again.
@PremiumNetwork I think both were psychotic. In Richie's case, his years behind bars kept his violence under forced control and he was ready to explode once he was out (kind of like Ted Bundy when he escaped and went to FLA). Ralph had been free to mete out violence all along so his bursts were less violent and more purpose-driven (much of Richie's violence was violence-for-violence's sake).
Other psychotics on the show: Livia, Paulie, Janice, Feech.
Ralphie was a huge piece of shit. The reason ppl hate Ralpie is because he beat the girl to death, which def makes him a scumbag. He was a sick bastard, as were a lot of others. Ralphie was loud but janice was really sneaky. she stole the womans leg, she too was a murderer, scared the shit out of bobbys kids etc. There was never 1 thing she did that didnt have an agenda to benefit herself & like paulie said "a rat dont even abandon their kids" like she did. Far from delusional lil fella
Pansey_ Oh you're one of those lol. A computer tuffguy. Go ahead lil buddy get all ur frustrations out. All that talk about sucking cock and that gay shit ur saying, its obvious step-daddy may have "checked your oil" lol. Had his was with you? Im sorry that happened to you. Now you have to talk real gay & tuff over a computer 2guys like me that would put you in the dirt if you talked to us like that in person. Now come back with some gay ass comment, but im done. I dont play this game.
@tonypanz - Says the idiot who started the name calling first. (Strike one.) Then you go on about how tough you are while lambasting guys who talk about how tough they are. That's the very definition of hypocrite, numbnuts. (Strike two.) Yawn.
What else ya got, moron? You're about as intellectually challenging as a hair across my ass ...
@TheJamesAgony Get a "jobby"? lol. I have a job lil guy. I need to get a job because i leave a certain number of comments?, but your keeping tabs on me & the amount of comments I leave?! Thanks for all the interest in me lil fella but I like women. You should get a "jobby" instead of keeping track of me and my comments. I have some tasks or chores you could do if you're that bored...talk to you never "dude".
@TheJamesAgony Lol my pride is just fine. Do like the Jr reference, though i was thinkin same thing about you. "Hes not respected, he couldnt fuckin sell it" U die and i cant even wear your shoes lil fella. Plus, you never had the makings of a varsity athlete. Ive already gone farther with you on this stupid fuckin yt comment war bs than i care to do. I dont play this game, so im done fucko. Leave me the fuck alone with your queer bs. Forget about me kid, im nothin but trouble lol

jksonny 1 year ago 2
@PremiumNetwork I'm not sure about Tony. He certainly has psychopathic tendencies but I'm not sure he qualifies as a full blown psychopath.
jksonny 1 year ago
@jksonny that would Richie Aprile :)

Carmela was happy to use Tony's position and money when it suited her whims.
jksonny 1 year ago
@jksonny There are a lot more examples of Carmela being as bad as the rest. She begged Tony numerous times to "visit" the housing inspector for her house. She knew this meant beating or bribing the man. She was Tony's #1 accomplice. Besides, Tony never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
tonypanz 11 months ago 4
@jksonny fuckin a! im glad to hear someone else say it! how bout the building inspector? we can only imagine what happened to him or his family as per carmellas wishes. all the while she acts like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. not to mention she more or less pulled furio's card when she told tony about their thing. plus im sure theres a million other instances that i havnt picked up on
samdogmc12 11 months ago
@samdogmc12 Carmela had a lot more in common with Tony and with Tony's mother than she would ever admit. Meadow was no angel either. She almost marries a completely non-mob guy, a dentist, and when that doesn't work out, she grabs a guy with a father in Tony's crew. The women in the show are as addicted to the life as the men, which I think is one of the show's themes.
jksonny 11 months ago 37
@jksonny I think you are blowing that out of proportion though. Patsy's son (Meadow's new boy friend) wasn't into the mafia, he was studying law. He was going to be a legit guy.
ntsshap4 4 months ago
@ntsshap4 He wasnt a mob guy, but his dad was and im sure he understood the life quite well, like Meadow did, and probably basically condoned and defended it to any outsider. Meadow certainly wasnt in the mafia neither but her father was also and her and Patsy's kid could relate on so many levels that that queer-bait dentist Finn could never understand.
tonypanz 4 months ago
@tonypanz Finn did understand though, it was Meadow who didn't understand. Finn freaked out after he saw little Paulie get the shit kicked out of him by whats his name? When he told Meadow about it, she defended her father's friends saying that they are nice guys. It also didn't help that Vito wanted to bang Finn. I feel that we have no real proof that they related to each other through what their fathers do. All we truly know is that Meadow was "inspired" by his views on law.
ntsshap4 4 months ago
@ntsshap4 I know what you're saying, Finn understood logical, "normal" way of life lol. Meadow was def brainwashed to a degree, but she was loyal to her father and would defend who they were to the death, even if she knows its wrong. Im Italian, and alot of Italians, and non-Italians actually, are taught to side with your family no matter what, whether they are wrong or right. Finn was def shook-up when Gene beat lil Paulie. There was no proof that they related through their dads but its implied
tonypanz 4 months ago
@jksonny excellent comment, one I've actually made pretty much verbatim on another vid. These women all come from Italian families-they all know exactly where all the money comes from.
pretorious700 1 month ago
@pretorious700 Even Carmela's parents are in on the hypocrisy. Her father was happy to have Tony's help getting that spec house built. And the mother showed her true colors at the party where she was so embarrassed by Tony twirling sausages. What about being embarrassed that her son-in-law is a mob boss???? She never even mentioned that bothering her.
jksonny 1 month ago
@jksonny Yep. they're all in on the hypocrisy. That's why my favorite scene featuring Carmela is when she went to see that Jewish shrink and he didn't sugarcoat anything. He was the first guy to truly tell her how it was without having any sort of agenda.
Antrizzle2009 1 month ago
@Antrizzle2009 And, of course, Carmela never saw him again. Too much reality for her to handle.
jksonny 1 month ago
@Antrizzle2009 Yeah that was funny. He totally told it exactly like it was without pulling any punches lol. Carmela was offended by his honesty & tried to insinuate that because the guy was Jewish that he didnt view marriage as a holy union like she does bceause she is Catholic/Italian & the Jew shrink replies that hes been married over 30yrs & she totally flips it & says "well you understand then lol". she would justify any crime Tony commits as long as she gets her allowance lol
tonypanz 1 month ago
@tonypanz Ironic how it took a shrink to tell her what the real deal was, yet the two Catholic Priests she went (the dude that wanted to bone her, as well as that foreign black guy) both tried to justify her staying married to Tony. Her hands were covered in blood just like Tony's were.
Antrizzle2009 1 month ago
@jksonny yeah and she intimidated her neighbor's sister regarding Meadow's letter of recommendation to Georgetown. She definitely used Tony's reputation and position to get what she wanted several times in the series.

@PremiumNetwork None of them are good people. Even Bobby, in real life, would be a complete lowlife.
I don't think Christopher qualifies as a psychopath but he's still a slime.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork I doubt Chase planned the ending all along but I remember reading that he had had it in mind for a while.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork The show needed to have a member of Tony's crew that the audience hated/mistrusted but the Richie character was too one dimensional to keep around for long. They brought in Ralph to take Richie's place and fleshed out his character to make him more interesting.
I don't consider Phil a psychopath. His violence had a purpose. There were reasons for what he did, whether you agreed with those reasons or not.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork I don't see two ambitious psychopaths getting along. Plus, if I understand the way the Sopranos family was organized, Richie would have been the captain of Ralph's crew, which would have made him Ralph's boss. Ralph desperately wanted to be a captain and would have done anything to undermine Richie (just like he did with Gigi).
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork Doubtful. I assume Jackie would have protected Richie. What would have been strange is if Jackie had lived, Richie and Tony would have been equals.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork Richie was apparently known to be a complete psychopath. People knew he had no self control.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork I agree, especially since Tony B. getting busted was such a traumatic event for Tony. It seems like that would have come up in therapy with all the talks about Livia.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork The idea came from Chase seeing a report on a lot of mobsters being released that had been prosecuted under RICO in the 80's.
There were a few instances where characters appeared/disappeared without prior mention or explanation. Very early on, it was explained that the actual boss of the Sopranos crew was in prison but you never heard about that again.
jksonny 1 year ago
@PremiumNetwork I think both were psychotic. In Richie's case, his years behind bars kept his violence under forced control and he was ready to explode once he was out (kind of like Ted Bundy when he escaped and went to FLA). Ralph had been free to mete out violence all along so his bursts were less violent and more purpose-driven (much of Richie's violence was violence-for-violence's sake).
Other psychotics on the show: Livia, Paulie, Janice, Feech.
jksonny 1 year ago
Damn! That looks like a great bar!

Of all the scum that ran around in these series, Ritchie Aprile was the worst of 'em. Closely followed by Ralph Cifaretto. What do you guys think?
tylerdurden4495 1 year ago
@tylerdurden4495 Of all the scumbags in the series, the biggest piece of shit, hands down, was for sure...JANICE!
tonypanz 4 months ago 39
@tonypanz - More than say, Ralphie? You're delusional.
Tansey81 1 month ago
Ralphie was a huge piece of shit. The reason ppl hate Ralpie is because he beat the girl to death, which def makes him a scumbag. He was a sick bastard, as were a lot of others. Ralphie was loud but janice was really sneaky. she stole the womans leg, she too was a murderer, scared the shit out of bobbys kids etc. There was never 1 thing she did that didnt have an agenda to benefit herself & like paulie said "a rat dont even abandon their kids" like she did. Far from delusional lil fella
tonypanz 1 month ago
@tonypanz - No, fagboy, Ralphie was 1000 times worse than Janice. You're a fucking idiot -- end of story. Go suck a cock

tonypanz 1 month ago
@tonypanz - Says the idiot who started the name calling first. (Strike one.) Then you go on about how tough you are while lambasting guys who talk about how tough they are. That's the very definition of hypocrite, numbnuts. (Strike two.) Yawn.
What else ya got, moron? You're about as intellectually challenging as a hair across my ass ...
